14/5/24 This place…read morewas recommended to me by a couple I met in a local pub, well, I hope I got to the right place. The interior was quite basic, but there wee a good number of people inside. I decided to test with the fish dish on the menu for two reasons@ 1. I like fish, and I like monkfish. 2. Monkfish is a difficult fish to cook. When I complained at the end of the meal, I said: The fish was overcooked and rubbery. The rice was very dry and rice on top was hard, I left most of this. The sauce was nice and had a bit of heat. The meal arrived in less than 12 minutes from ordering. I also said that I didn't feel it was freshly cooked, but the manager assured me that it had been. My observations: The fish was cooked from frozen, as you cannot have it waiting defrosted on the off-chance it will be ordered. Ergo, it must have been frozen. Due to this it was overcooked. I'm still wondering if it was actually monkfish as the pieces were exceptionally thin. The manager admitted that they cannot cook sticky rice fresh and it had been put in a microwave to heat up. This is what caused the dryness and the crust of hard rice on top. I'd allege that the fish was put in the pan on a high heat and then the sauce added. The fish hadn't taken on any of the flavour of the sauce. In all I felt the main course was expensive give what I received. I did tell them that I would send them a link to my review. I will not be returning and if I bump into that couple I met, I'll tell them about my experience. I paid in full except for any service charge. Pint of Singha Beer - £6.00 Panang Monkfish - £19.50 Sticky Rice - £4.90

Our group decided to give this local Thai spot a shot while staying in Stevenage…read more Though the decor was inviting and made the place seem like it'd be a good choice, it was anything but. First, there were some positives. The cocktails were pretty good here, with an excellent espresso martini and mai tai, and I was disappointed not to try the specials. The food on the other hand was definitively not good. Our mains were the chicken pad Thai, and pad see yew, the chicken in both was incredibly bland and tasteless, with the pad Thai being over sweet and lacking any depth. We also ordered the mushroom Tom yum which was far too sour (though it was packed to the brim with mushrooms). Having been to Thai restaurants all over the world, this one firmly stands near the bottom of the list. Would not recommend.

After spending a couple of days at Ashridge university, I wanted to explore Berkhamsted town and…read moregrab a hot lunch before catching the train back to London. I avoid chain restaurants when I can and this one had a good rating on yelp. It was a fixed lunch offer only (no a la carte) with one soup or starter and one main course served with rice. I ordered the sticky pork ribs as a starter - they were very well cooked and were almost falling off the bone, but the sauce on them was sickly sweet. My main course was a beef stir fry (I asked for a spicy option and the server recommended this) Again the meat was well cooked, but it was so salty! While main courses are normally served with rice, I requested if I could substitute the rice for noodles. The egg noodles that were served with the beef was very tasty (and they weren't even on the menu) The place was quite full in the noon and most people in there were locals. The staff was really sweet and obliging. However the food was a disappointment. I just ate the noodles and picked at the beef and pork. Even mixed with the noodles the sweetness was cloying and the saltiness overwhelming. Next time I think I'll just eat at Ashridge before leaving, the buffets there were amazing.

I'll start off by saying that I don't generally give places a full five stars on my first visit…read morebecause they'll usually do something trivial to irritate me or their food won't knock my socks off. This place, however, had amazing food, the best Thai tea that I've ever had, and the woman who served us (I won't insult her by trying to spell her name) was extremely friendly and forthcoming despite the fact that they were closing in twenty minutes for the end of lunch. I'm from The States; so, perhaps I find British food a little bland and repetitive after a few months but their food had great flavor and was decently priced for the quality. After stumbling through the menu after a night of drinking, she kindly joked that I needed some sugar to clear my fuzzy head and recommended that I have a large Thai tea as we waited for our food. I agreed and Boy! Am I grateful I did. You won't find any of that orange, powdered pre-made stuff like you do in the states at this spot. It was so refreshing and definitely the pick-me-up that I needed. The Bangkok Pad Thai with prawns was also delicious. She let me spice it up and cautioned me against ordering the Thai Spicy until I came back haha. I stuck with a level three and it had some good heat to it. I also got eight giant prawns in a medium sized amount of Pad Thai. For me, that's pretty amazing considering that it was only 10 pounds and typically places either give you those tiny prawns or only one or two of them. So, I'll definitely be getting it again. My friends ordered the Drunken Noodles (with rice noodles) and the Panang Chicken Curry. They both let me try a bite of both and they were also amazing. The coconut milk in the curry is phenomenal and the drunken noddles had a nice savory taste. I would also order their meals another time. Other than the food being well worth it, the woman who took care of us and took our take out order was hilarious and I can't wait to go back and get to actually dine in. I'll be posting photos the next time!

Outside of Thailand this must be the best Thai cuisine that I have tasted. Not only the taste but…read morethe service and atmosphere as soon as you arrive. Thai greetings by genuine Thais. However, the main thing, the food. A wonderful, extensive menu at reasonable prices. Even drinks are reasonable for a restaurant. Prices that more resemble than a pub. Who is to complain? Service by very friendly staff, friendly but totally professional. A wonderful evening with a friend of my partner. We will be back. Only down, and not the fault of the restaurant, was an extremely noisy table of eight. Nobody could have a conversation until they left. There was a noticeable sigh from many tables at that point. Anyway, ladies may I say ' - kp-kun-kráp' (thank you) from the three of us.

Tom yum - absolutely fantastic with a good spice range and tender chicken Tamarind duck - a hit every time and less sweet than expected (good thing as can be sickly sweet) Red duck curry (Gaeng Ped Yang) - solid coconutty choice which doesn't skimp on the meat Have had their crispy chicken wontons (Kio Krob) and the Golden Treasures appetiser which was just okay. Didn't seem as freshly made.
