The "Golden Razor Barber Salon" was at Grand River & Washington Blvd. for many years. Owned by Dominic & Alphonse, they laid claim to some of the most famous "heads" in mid to late twentieth century Detroit. The salon moved to Stroh River Place in the late eighties/ early nineties, and was operated solely by Dominic after Alphonse retired. Dominic finally retired, and there was much wailing and growing of hair in desperation. What does a guy do when he loses a Barber that he's known longer than his wife?
NOT TO WORRY!
Ginny Epps has taken over and she is a Barber in the tradition established by Dominic & Alphonse. She is able to create all of the new styles, and she is able to create the "fresh air inspector" styles that Dominic was loved and cherished for.
This shop is old school, and men who gather there are friends, even if they have not previously met. The established vibe never left.
Men don't pamper themselves enough, and there aren't enough places where they can just be men.
