This is a lovely buffet style chinese restaurant. It is good value, well laid out and clean. The drinks are also reasonably priced, as this is so often a problem with this sort of place. The only downside is that parking is a little limited. If you book a table and tell them in advance that it's your birthday, they give you a free cake and play happy birthday to you over the speakers - was mighty embarassing for the mother in law when it was her 60th, lol! read more

Now, everyone has a takeaway, near them in their teens particularly, with the cat rumour, namely the one where someone who knows someone's cousins wife got a microchip stuck in their teeth, and this one was ours. Now, as much as I thoroughly doubt this story, as I've heard it for about five different chineses around the country (I do actually know of a true cat story from the late seventies, but otherwise I think we're relatively safe) whenever I come here, it's been more about pretty much competitively eating with my best friends. Buffet style, fill your face, good range for meat eaters and veggies, it's very much your standard British Chinese food, it'll do, but you come here for the sake of managing to seat twenty of you to fill your faces, rather than to have a slap up meal. read more

Golden Orient is fantastic all you can eat chinese buffest restaurant. It has been open about a year, and brings something to Stafford that the town has always been lacking. Every time I have been the food has been hot and very tastey, with a huge range to choose from. More dishes are served in the evening including duck and hoi sin sauce in pancakes. The buffet is served at 5:30pm, and no more food is added after 10:15 pm. The staff are brilliant, very friendly and quick service. It is around £15 for all you can eat, which is great for such high quality food. Don't fill yourself up too quick, leave room for the chocolate fountain! read more

Scrummy food! There is a large selection of dishes to choose from - from starters, to mains, and puddings (including an ice-cream machine and a chocolate fountain). The food is always warm and tasty. We have been here a number of times. Sometimes they are a little slow to replenish the more popular dishes (sweet and sour, etc.) - but if you ask, or wait for a few minutes, it is soon topped up! i love this place. We have been here for family meals on many occasions. If you ask them on a birthday they can provide you with a complementory birthday cake. We also went here for new year last year, we were the only ones there at midnight but they left the TV on for us so we had the big ben and fireworks extravaganza, they found us some party poppers and we made hats out of napkins, it was fab!! the food selection is fatastic too. read more

Reliable buffet with decent range of different dishes. We go two or three times a year. Stand of food is generally good, and they try to change the dishes every six months or so and experiment with more unusual meals, so you don't have to stick to exactly the same menu as all buffets tend to serve. Special this time was sausage in black pepper: odd, but nice. Their version of tandoori chicken was more interesting. Also do the full range of everything you'd expect: sweetcorn soups, sweet n sour, black bean, crispy duck, lemon chicken, satay sticks, spring rolls, etc, plus some 'English' dishes including chips and even hash browns. Extensive range of desserts, including some hot ones (banana fritter, etc), although those tend to appear suddenly and get snaffled very quick so you have to keep an eye open for them. On the downside, it can get very busy at weekends. Huge queues when there's an event at Stafford showground and the nearby lodges are full. Can be a struggle to get the food you prefer on those nights, and booking a table is recommended. 8/10 read more
