If we had read these reviews we could have saved ourselves two hours of headache! We placed Orders for three people last night close to closing (probably out second mistake) and had it delivered (via doordash) (perhaps our third mistake). We received just one of the orders. In a fra tic effort to make the restaurant personnel aware, we called (and called and called) until someone finally picked up (admittedly, after closing). We related our concern that only one-third of the order was delivered. Golden Krust offered ZERO in the way of support, compensation, or caring customer service. We also reached out to doordash. After more than an hour of going back and forth between DoorDash, Golden Krust, and the delivery driver (who maintains he asked twice to confirm he had the full order) we were able to get a DoorDash refund for a portion of our payment. After a visit today to Golden Krust, there was still little understanding and no attempt to provider any support to secure our FUTURE patronage. Perhaps Golden Krust does not need our business. They certainly will not, nor will they be recommendes by us as a place that values their paying customers. A shame, really. We were looking forward to patrinizing a local restaurant and enjoying what we hoped would be a delicious meal. We'll never know. read more

As a DoorDash driver, I can't stand this place most of the time the food's already done and they still take forever to make a delivery order. They are like my go to for some good oxtail... I was very upset I paid $25 for a small plate and didn't get what I expected. My go to location (old national) would have never. I LOVE Jamaican food!!! Hopden Krust is a chain but this is the only location I visit. Anytime I'm in town this spot is a must! The ox tails are cooked to perfection amd the gravy they marinate in are the perfect addition to the rice and beans! The restaurant itself is pretty small worh both indoor and outdoor seating. The food is displayed in a buffet style manner. Unfortunately the portions vary depending on who is serving you. I ordered a large oxtail that only had about 6 pieces. The cabbage is the best I've had at a restaurant. The prices are pretty high but for the quality I'll pay I just wish the portion sizes were consistent. read more

I walked in and wasn't even acknowledged, just looked at strangely by the 2 employees. The young lady walked over and still didn't say anything. Paid $15 for a small curry chicken and it was horrible. The rice is overcooked (soft & stuck together). The cabbage is not cooked enough, but hey it was seasoned well. I don't ever visit this place because I know the food is not good but visited because it was raining and it's in walking distance from the job. I hardly ever leave reviews but this deserved one, especially when they ask for a tip and charge a service fee (for what). It's all about perception. The male cashier was preparing my lunch of curried goat and the fixings. I noticed it was a nice sized helping of goat he put in the to-go box. As soon as I said that, I noticed he took a piece of meat out of my plate and placed it back into the pot where it originated from. I did make the statement that, DUDE it was already on the plate you could've left it there and just stopped. He then made the statement to me that there was a limit. So this is not about me being greedy and wanting more meat. Or about being upset that he put it back. I ordered a large rice and peas for $9.62 with oxtail gravy. Only a spoon full of oxtail gravy was placed on the top of a deep cup on 04-21-23. I said that, in the past it was layered and that, as is will not cover the rice. The clerk said that, "some people make it a certain way and others do it differently.". There was no attempt nor interest in adding more gravy. What horrible and disappointing service.  I will no longer give my business to that establishment. Although I decided to go on and order food and enjoyed it, the waitresses as well as the cook (supervisor) did not have on a mask. In this covid pandemic age, this is highly concerning. They've been consistent with the oxtails and the jerk chicken, the only two items that I normally get. My only complaint is the different servers are not consistent with the amount of food they put on the plate. Folks don't mind paying high prices if the amount of food is a decent portion. It was me and my moms first time and the lady that was getting our food act like she had an attitude when we were asking which foods were which. I was craving a beef patty and some good Jamaican food, so I stopped at Golden Krust. It is hard to rate this location because I am going back and forth between a 2 and 3 rating. The food was okay. It is not the worst Jamaican food, but it is not the best either. In fact, the service from the cashier, is probably the better thing about the experience. I came in after 5 on Friday because I wanted a beef patty, and ended up ordering two patties, two cocoa bread, and jerk chicken dinner plates for my fiance and me. They were done making fresh jerk chicken, so the cashier offered to mix the jerk plate with chicken legs, and jerk wings (because they were running out of chicken). I agreed to that, even though her manager was micromanaging and hovering over her as she was fixing the plates. The cashier ended up making two jerk plates because of her manager hovering, even though my intentions were to order one jerk plate and one oxtail plate. I did not want the jerk chicken plate, but I took it since the cashier was trying to make a compromise, since there would not be any fresh chicken made. When I got home and ate, I was disappointed. The beef patty was good. The cocoa bread was dry, the jerk chicken was dry, but the jerk wings were good. The cabbage was hit and miss because some parts were under cooked and too crunchy, while others were tender and delicious. I loved the plantains, and the rice and peas were just okay. I did not finish the food, and ended up discarding the left overs the next day. This is usually unheard of when it comes to Jamaican food. Overall, this was just not the best experience. You order a lunch size and she charge you for a small meal, or you order 2 sides i.e cabbage/plantains(old, greasy, black) and that's $7+. I was extremely excited to hear that a Golden Krust was opening in Douglasville. If I had a taste for it I would have to drive 20 min plus just to get to one so I started going to my local Jamaican restaurant. I decided to go today as my first visit since I was in the area and was craving some curried chicken. When I get there there was a pretty long line but the place was very clean and they had the lone running smoothly. I get up to the staff member and asked for curry chicken and she said they were out!!! It's two hours before they closed and you're not making anymore of it. I was so disappointed, and had to pick another option so I chose the oxtails. More expensive item but nothing else caught my eye there. The reason I gave it 3 stars is because they didn't close for another 2 hours and they weren't making anymore chicken. You are a new restaurant and should have food well in stock in my opinion. I can see if it was 30 minutes to closing but I seen no excuse for not having everything in stock. Food was decent but I think I will continue to go to my favorite Jamaican spot in lithia springs..
