Like it always has. But...not one item is the same. Not one is has flavor. Not even salt could help. Brown stew chicken watery no flavor. Fish not sweet or hot. The soup biggest disappointment. No dumplings. No meat. I ordered at 1230 so there was plenty of soup that it shouldn't have been picked over. The soup was so bad I actually thought there was a chemical in it. I threw it out. Over $50 plus a tip If I had the time and energy I would go there for a full refund and let them have all their food back. Cause in the trash it goes. read more

This was my very first experience with Golden krust and I'm excited to try more! I walked into a very small, very authentic shop. There is plenty of prepackaged food available to grab and go. There is also a hot bar of food to choose from. They explained they don't have a hard copy of a menu but that it is listed online on their website. On that menu I also found various bread and pastries. I was in a rush before work and ordered two patties, one jerk chicken and one mild beef. Both patties were very satisfying. The Jerk Chicken Patty was very nice and had a slight spice to it. The mild beef patty was super tasty but I would order the spicy one next time! The patties were hot and tasted very fresh! Super pleased with my experience and I'm very happy this place is so close to my work so I know I can grab something quick whenever I'm in a rush! read more

The family felt for Jamaican food and so we jumped on the highway from our hotel and drove about 12 minutes to here. It does close an hour earlier than which is stated on website. I was about to leave the Hollywood Mall when my eyes spotted Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill. HOLD UP, WAIT A MINUTE! There's a Golden Krust in Hollywood Mall?! Checked the clock on the dash...1:30pm...made U-turn and found a parking space. Lord have mercy. The scent of the prepared food instantly hit my nostrils as I opened the door. I was immediately greeted by one of the employees with an inviting smile as my order of the brown stew chicken lunch special was being dished out into a carry out container. It was served with rice & peas, steamed vegetables, and plantain. Also included a free can soda. The lady was nice enough to add some sauce to the rice. It looked so good. This Golden Krust location is small with only a couple of tables for customers if they choose to eat their food there. They serve a variety of patties, pastries, breads, soups, and combo meals. You can even start your day with a traditional Caribbean breakfast of ackee or callaloo & saltfish prepared with boiled bananas, boiled dumplings, or bread. I totally enjoyed the food. The steamed vegetables, though a bit crunchy for my taste, was flavorful. The rice & peas was pleasingly cooked. The chicken was nicely browned and very tender. The one plantain that was placed on the food was sweet...but only one plantain? Why be stingy with the plantains? They could have at least added 2 or 3. I was so hungry and on my way to Target. The smell was calling me from outside. I ordered Brown Stew chicken with white rice, cabbage and plantains. My husband got Oxtail with Rice and peas, cabbage and plantains . We also got an order of Jerk wings and 2 patties. It was DELICIOUS! Not salty and not too spicy. I just left this location with two box lunches. One was jerk chicken and the other was curry goat. My jerk chicken was soo dry , I did not realize how bad it was because I could not see inside the food case due to the amount of steam. I can not believe they served this to people. This was my first experience with a Caribbean restaurant and unfortunately it falls short of what Caribbean food is. I ordered the Jerk chicken lunch special, the chicken had good flavor but it was dry, the plantains were good and the cabbage salad was pretty bland. The most disappointing thing about this place is how unclear and unorganized the menu is. When I walk into a restaurant for the first time I want the the menu to be organized and clear, I want to see what the specials are. I had to ask to see if they had lunch specials and there are no details about what is included in their combos. When clarity and organization are lacking in the menu it's very intimidating, because I either have to ask questions and if there is a long line it makes me feel like a nuisance or I just order without knowing what is included in the price or what my options are, if I have any. Just because of the menu this wouldn't be a place I return to. Managers how do you not see this? The hunt continues for a good Caribbean restaurant. read more

Haven't had Golden Krust in years, but decided to give it a try again and now I know why I haven't had it in years. I came in at 11:45am for some oxtails and festival. They didn't have festival ready so I couldn't ordered. The oxtails only come in a size large for $24, I only wanted a small and they wouldn't let me order a small. So then I opted for the curry goat, the girl dips the spoon in the pot and sees there isn't any meat left in it. She heads to the kitchen to get some more and returns to me to tell me it's not ready and won't be ready. So okay, I didn't want anything else but 1/2 the plate was already made so as I'm thinking what will I do, she preceded to say, I'll just give you whatever's in the pot. I said so you're just going to give me the gravy from it, no meat!? No mam', I will not pay for that. Ended up with jerk pork which was a mistake. I couldn't wait until I got settled to write this review. I hate that I have to but this young lady working there pushed me to thee edge today. A week and a half ago I was there getting some soup and as I looked in the soup there was a fly swimming in it. Now, I politely told them about it and they dumped that soup and put a new batch out. That did not deter me from coming back because normally they have good soup. Fast forward to today. I went there to order the chicken soup as I'm waiting to be served I noticed the young lady coming from the cashier to serving line. I watched her as she scratched her hairline and rubbed by her eyes, thinking that she was walking to the sink to wash her hands she walked over to the soup cups and proceeded to take down soup cups for me. When she came to the serving area to prepare my soup, I stopped her in her tracks and told her that I saw her scratch her head and rub her eyes and could she wash her hands. She looked at me and sucked her teeth. I looked at her and said are you really sucking your teeth. She walked over to the sink and washed her hands and then proceeded back to the contaminated cups to put soup in, I told her that she has give me new cups for the soup. Her body language clearly showed that she was not happy with me but who cares? I told her that this is proper hand washing etiquette for anyone who is in the business of serving food to do so. Not only that but we are in a big crisis with the Coronavirus and how dare you get made and suck your teeth because someone asked you to wash your hands. You should be glad that your customers are taking note of this and encouraging proper hand sanitation because it could easily be the health department. Oh, I can make that happen too. The employees are very slow and they take up the only two tables on their breaks so you are left there as a customer standing on your feet, hungry, with a tray, and having to go to your car to eat. By the way, the two times I've witnessed this, the employees are not even eating, they are just there playing with their phones. I can only speak for their vegan parties, soya and veggie. The veggie parties are wonderful! We love them. The soya ones are good. The reason I gave 3 stars is because of their service!! Not a fan of the Golden Krust chains. Each one is a big different, but this location has to be the worst. The rice and peas was so soft and soggy it made me gag to chew, I took one spoonful and gave up. The oxtail sauce was not tasty in the slightest but at least the meat portion was OK. The beef patty was definitely not fresh as it was very tough to chew through. I'm also not a fan of Jamaican spots that mash up the meat in their patties. I was welcomed in with a warm Caribbean smile from Kim she took great care of me.. she gave me the best recommendations and I chose jerk chicken rice and cabbage.. and got two Patty's to go with my meal.. The prices are good plus while I was in there business was booming (which means the food is always fresh)I just moved here from Boston and it has that city // island I made this plate with love in every bite! The food is good but the worse service I've ever had. It's always the same every time we come. Horrible service and when you come for lunch, the food is never ready. They tell you 10 minuets but it's always much longer. We were over charged today and the employees began to argue amongst themselves on what we were charged. They tried to explain to the cashier we were charged wrong and she wouldn't agree. Finally got the money due back to us.
