Two days ago I stopped in and purchased ackee and saltfish breakfast. I was very disappointed, there was barely any saltfish, but more vegetables and onions, the ackee was very soft like mash. I paid $22.00+ for 2 dumplings, 2 tiny green figs and a tiny slice of potato. I threw away 1 dumpling cause it was too tough and a green fig. The food was lacking flavor and was not enjoyable. When this place first open the food was fresh and tasty. Today I went in and picked up a jerk chicken dinner and it was dry not moist at all and the cabbage tastes like some type of oil! This location is always accommodating and the people are friendly whenever I visit. I had a party to throw and I quickly realized I was running out of time to get everything done and still cook. You would be hard pressed to find the beans in their beans and rice and she will fill the entire to go box up with it....even grocery store Zataran's boxed pinto beans and rice is a better alternative to this place The tallest of the lady's at the Hiram location actually counts each piece of plantains as she places them into the to-go box and the same fried plantains are on the all you eat buffet at Golden Corral so how expensive can each individual plantain piece be? They will up charge you to use even your debit card The good part of visiting this place with their expensive skimpy portions is that I started cooking my own braised oxtails using a recipe from the web and my crockpot at home never having to visit here ever again read more

Now the lady behind me is getting her food- going back and forth about her specifics as she should - meanwhile my food sits near the register. Now a phone order is being taken by who I thought was the owner or manager. I ask the young lady nicely was I waiting on something?? Who knows maybe more goat...even tho it seemed my order was completed when it got sat down. I was told I am here in the front alone (uhh no you're not) and i will take this ladies order and ring y'all up together. Welp- you can keep that lil order. NUmber one - everyone else in line placed their order and was rung out. Number two- already the person behind me was waited on before me as well as an incoming phone order put in front of me and Number three- I don't think so. I was excited there was a location on this side of town, but the food has been a little disappointing. On one visit I ordered a curry chicken and a jerk chicken meal. They were very stingy with the amount of food, and I've never seen a Golden Krust do that in my life and I grew up eating from this company. Also, my jerk chicken didn't have any jerk sauce...like at all. It was just dry chicken AND it was scraps! Usu you get like a leg, and thigh and another piece but this time I literally got what appeared to be pulled chicken pieces for a bbq sandwich. Today when I went, I got two chicken patties and the krust in some places was so hard I had to tug at it with my teeth to bite a piece off. I also ordered a side of Mac and cheese and when I got home about 7 min later, it was cold! As if I had just come out of the refrigerator. Really liked the food here. It's a Caribbean restaurant so, don't be taken aback by the nonchalance of the servers. The food is great and that's all that matters. We all got oxtails. I got the curry oxtails and my daughter got the traditional ones. I also got some bread and cheese, which I've never heard of before. Food is always great. It definitely my go to spot for a good cooked meal for myself and my family I always get the jerk or curry. They recently had turkey wings curry and it was soooooo good. My grab and go is definitely jerk chicken patty and coco bread with a tropical rhythm pineapple guava ( thank me later) it's fulfilling and tasty, most definitely better then your typical fast food. They are very attentive and fast with service nobody feels rushed and you feel catered to when making your selections. Great food great people great customer service. I've been to several Golden Krust locations and this one has been the best one ever. The food was full of flavor. They actually give you more than enough and the service is amazing. Which explains why there's always a line. Their Mac and cheese surpasses all the other locations. I ended up going twice in one week because my parents were eyeballing my plate. However on the second visit. They had ran out of almost everything and still had 4 more hours til closing. Let's just say that is a testament to how good the food is at this location. Due to social distancing the line was down the side walk. Weekend day and the wait was approximately 30-45mins. Worth the wait though if they haven't ran out of what you wanted. On my personal visit I ordered the Braised Oxtails extra gravy with rice and peas cabbage and plantains. Side of Mac and Cheese. Delicious gravy, however, I would have liked my cabbage cooked longer. The food is not bad however the portions are small especially if you're ordering like the brown stew chicken or oxtails they only give you a few pieces not even a whole quarter of chicken and whole oxtails ; just a few pieces So in my opinion the money that you pay for the meals are really not worth it! They really do have really good soup There the red pea soup is amazing and filling and I must say it is very reasonably priced both small and large container sizes. The staff is Amazing. Their customer service is good. They always greet you and welcome you in properly and they're very attentive to your needs. There's certain are improvements that need to be made and that's why I scored this establishment a 2. I believe that with updated improvements to the portion sizes for the prices that you are charging you would attract a lot more customers.. One other observation I can share is that you need to go early mornings or afternoons to get the most popular dishes because sometimes in the evening they are all out of those dishes. read more

I frequent Golden Krust and normally order a combination plate of oxtail and curry chicken. A combination plate is where they provide you half oxtail meat and half curry chicken meat. So I order this and at the register I notice the price is $32+. I ask the lady why that is and she tells me it's because I got double meat. I tell her I didn't ask for double meat--I asked for a combination plate. She proceeds to tell me she has charged me 7.99 for extra meat and since the plate is already made there is nothing she can do. Her manager confirms that I would have to pay for the meal since it's already made and that she could discount the extra meat to 5.99 but that's it. I was told that they do not offer combo plates...to which I tell them I get this order all the time at the 2 other Golden Krust locations I frequent in Georgia. Anyway, I ended up paying for the food but I felt the workers were rude and unaccommodating. The manager especially was rude and acted like she couldn't be bothered. I understand this may be a franchise and different locations may have different options that they offer. However, I specifically asked for a combination plate at the time of ordering with no problem...until I got to the register and they wanted to count it as "extra meat." I love Golden Krust and eat here at least once a week, but I definitely will NOT be going back to this location. It would've been fine if the manager and worker were kinder instead of trying to badger me like I didn't know what I was talking about...when I order the same thing all the time.
