We have been coming here for years. It is showing its age. It seems like everyone is scared to come here because it's so run down outside and in. But, let me tell you, the food is still really good. I always get the sweet and sour chicken but today I'm trying the lemon chicken. The service was great because we were the only ones here. Our food was really good. We both enjoyed our meals. Honestly, I was a bit nervous about this place. Reviews were only so so. I was boating with my family at nearby Hyrum reservoir. We asked the park ranger what she thought. She did not want to say anything bad about a local place, but was a bit hesitant to give a recommendation. Our only other non-fast food choice nearby was a Mexican restaurant, also an unknown, and we were more in the mood for Chinese. As we drove up, the building did not inspire confidence. When we entered about 7:30 on a Wednesday, we were the only customers. We grabbed our own menus and seated ourselves down at a not-very-comfortable table. The only two employees started to serve us, but I began to think that we should have gone to McDonalds. That would have been a big mistake. Our order was taken quickly. There were six of us, and we ordered soup, appetizers and and six entrees to share. Everything was excellent. Portions were generous. Everything was hot and cooked fresh to order. Crab cheese wontons were a highlight. Chicken dishes (sweet and sour, orange) were lightly breaded, moist and sauces were not heavy. I am typically not a fan of sweet and sour pork, as it is usually dry and chewy, but my father likes it. This dish had big tender chunks, also lightly breaded. Happy family was savory and both the meats and vegetables were perfectly cooked. Pork fried rice often has just small bits of port. The rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned, eggs and vegetables were generous, but the pork was over the top. Lots of big pieces of thinly sliced char shu. Price was very reasonable. Our party of six left stuffed and with left-overs for under $100. ($120 with tip) Overall, the Golden Jade was shockingly good and dramatically exceeded my expectations. This place gets a 5 star on the amount of food they give you for the price. I ate until I hurt and still had more leftovers than most servings from other restaurants. The food is terrible. Super basic, re-heated meats. You pass multiple Asian style restaurants on the way. You're better off stopping at one of those if you want good food. read more

On the plus side, the serving sizes are ginormous. There is no reason not to split your meal. However, the quality of the food is simply below average. Lots of people recommended this place. Took the family and was disappointed in two out of the three meals we ordered. Lemon chicken was near flavorless. Sweet and sour wasn't too great either. Szechwan chicken was ok. This made it hard because our little ones didn't like the spicier chicken. Lots of fried rice was nice but seemed to be less than fresh. Okay so for a preface I actually enjoy their food and this review isn't a reflection of that but of their service. So tonight I drove up to Golden Jade after a looooooong day. Anyways I pulled up at 8:47 pm and they close at nine. Granted I know it was close to closing but if they're open till nine they're open till nine right? Wrong. What irritated me most was that I saw workers in there when I pulled up. Well, while I was looking at the menu (a total of 2 minutes max) the workers shut down the store and closed up so they didn't ave to serve me. They watched me pulled up and hurried to close early. Im just super annoyed this is terrible service. Hopefully it doesn't happen again. read more

So the good part about Golden Jade is the price, and how fast they have your food ready. However, all the meat is clearly reheated, its dry and it tastes bad. I have given this place three or four tries and each time is better than the next. Walk next door and get some cheese sticks from Pizza Plus, you will be much better off. read more

Golden Jade has gone downhill since it changed management. We used to be regulars, but was very disappointed last night. I ordered #12 broccoli with chicken....got beef instead of chicken, well ok.....but the sauce was thin and runny and poured out the corner of the box like water. There was too much grated ginger in the food and it was overpowering (not usual). They forgot to put sweet and sour sauce on the sweet and sour chicken, but it was very soggy from the watery sauce run over from the main course and not really edible anyway. For the rice, instead of the usual packed scoop of rice it had been dumped in with a spoon and was loose and all over the rest of meal....And the portion was smaller.... last..they forgot my chile sauce....again. read more

They have a daily lunch special prior to 3 PM daily I'm not sure if it works during the weekend. You get enough food for two meals when you eat here. The food is pretty good I'm not a huge fan of their egg drop soup. I rate them a little bit lower because the staff isn't very friendly. read more

They used to be really good! The food tasted good and was good quality. However, lately the food has gone way downhill. The Asian couple (I believe they're the owners) who used to be there every day haven't been there and I've noticed a huge decline in the quality. It is just not the same anymore. Since moving to Northern Utah 15 years ago, after being raised in SLC, I am glad I finally found a great Chinese-American Restaurant that compares to the Chinese restaurants in SLC where they know what egg drop soup is, how it should look, feel and taste and that chicken chow mein is made with Crisp Veggies in a mildly seasoned sauce (very tasty, didn't even need soy sauce) with large pieces of white meat chicken and crunchy noodles, not the boiled veggie muck served in other chinese restaurants in Cache Valley or the spaghetti noodles with a hint of veggies that they pass off as chow mein. Someone commented it was overpriced, absolutely not! for the portion size and what is included. The combo is easily enough for two meals, the bag weighed about 5lbs. I ate the soup, egg roll and wonton and could only eat about 1/4 of the ham fried rice, chicken chowmein and sweet n sour chicken (I thought that was a misprint on the menu when it said sns chicken was included - it wasn't). It is well worth the drive from Logan to get good food at a good value, the restaurant is very casual and you can eat in, order take out or go through the drive-thru (that surprised me but one of my favorite places in SLC had drive-thru). One dinner combination fed our family of 4 for $8 very generous. It comes with soup, egg-roll, wonton, ham fried rice and sweet n sour chicken (instead of chow/lo mein) heavy on the meat but it was delicious, better than the Szechwan (tiny spicy chicken) main portion. Which wasn't spicy in a peppery way but overwhelmingly so in the raw garlic sense. It was all white meat pieces great quality but inconsistently cooked some pieces were severely dried out, others we're really good. Classic Chinese take out I guess, I've yet to eat at a five star Chinese in Utah ha! Overall much better than Mandarin Garden or Formosa, for take-out. The restaurant is in pretty bad shape, sticky outdated old Arctic Circle. The service is very fast though they even have a drive through! read more

I was a huge fan. I love the food but the service is awful. This is the third time that after I check my bank account they self tip. The first time I thought maybe I just didn't remember that I tipped them $12 and some change. The second time they over charged me on what was listed as pricing and when I asked them to change it the lady was rude and made a huge deal out of it. Normally a few bucks who cares but sixty dollars on what should be a $25-30 dollar order no thank you. So as rude as it is I didn't leave a tip. Almost two weeks later I had a $15.00 charge from the restaurant. (this was almost a yearish ago.) I thought I would try again so I had my friend use my card and pick us up some soup and Crab ragoons. . . Should have been around a $21.00 charge! I look at my bank account because I am kind of a freak and today an added charge of $9.15 was added to the ticket. (I am usually a big tipper but this is almost double 20%) I also always have gotten it to go so tipping that big here at the window for them to make and hand me my food is a joke. I may have understood if I went in and sat down and they served me and then had to clean up after me sure. When I had asked friends and family if this had happened to them I was shocked on how many people this had happened too!! I will be calling and turning them in and I suggest that if you continue to eat here don't use a card to pay. I am very disappointed in the management allowing this to continually happen. read more
