I got my usual king prawn salted chilli with boiled rice and my wife opted for chicken sweet & sour. The prawn dish was excellent. It was a decent portion and it was well flavour balanced between spice & salt. It did not have the acrid burn from those places on Monaghan Street who use dried chilli from jars and unlike these places there was actual fresh red chilli in the dish. It's hard to believe that many Chinese takeaways in town don't add fresh chilli to spicy dishes but have the cheek to charge top prices. The boiled rice too was perfectly cooked. I did not really like their sweet and sour sauce though as it was like a light vinegary gel really so it needs work. I only noticed as I was leaving that they offered dishes line salt & chilli pork chop available in another Chinese Restaurant just down the street so they must have common ownership.

I would return if friends or family wished to dine in East but it wouldn't personally be my first choice. Nonetheless, the crispy spring rolls are tasty and there are a good range of vegetarian dishes on the menu. Service, restaurant and food are all fine, however if I fancy Chinese food whilst in Armagh I think there are better Chinese takeaways about. East has been open for quite a few years now, so must have its supporters and be filling a niche in the local market. Not offensive but not great either, really just average overall and somewhat lacks the wow factor for me personally.

From the outside it looks nothing spectacular, in fact it fits in well with the other run down shop fronts on Dundalks main street, but the food is first class. There is a sister restaurant called the Adelphi Jade and I hear its good to but I have only tried the Jade Garden on Park Street. Tasty, plentiful and service which is hard to beat i gotta give this place 5 stars, anyone who I meet who has been here also thinks it is the best Chinese for miles around.
