It was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. For the most part, she received quality care. It was the horrible care she received an acute care facility, that motivated me to pursue a career as a health care advocate for seniors. The seniors without family and friends received subpar care and treatment. I was at the facility daily and had to pull teeth to insist on her getting the bare minimum care. My employment background is mostly in transportation and finance. I cared for my mom and received a 40 hour a month salary for 24 hours a day care as an IHSS provider. I wanted to expand my resume and become a Certified Nurse Assistant as well as a Certified Home Health Care Provider. My goal is to have a few clients to assist from home to the hospital. I needed an online school that would allow me to have days free to address probate, financial and grief therapy concerns. I googled CNA schools in the Riverside county area and selected McKallen Medical. The knowledge I obtained at McKallen not only broadened my natural patient centered care instincts, it provided me with additional tools, resources and knowledge that has opened my heart and soul. I enrolled in the CNA course 4 months after my moms death. I was stuck in the bargaining stage of grief. I was being triggered by some of the lessons. It was a daily barrage of " if I could of, would of, should of" mental gymnastics. Logically, I knew that I did not have the knowledge to know what steps could have made a difference in my mothers care. However, in the midst of grief, you are filled with guilt and despair. After my first week of theory, I notified administration and told them I was struggling with the course. Tre Green, was not only understanding, he was compassionate and empathetic. He advised me to take as much time as I needed and pursue the course when I was ready to move forward. Eventually I re-started the course with Instructor Mary Montantes-Peck. She was a SUPERB INSTRUCTOR. She is passionate, knowledgeable and engaged. She is the prime example of passing on to others what she embodies as a human being. I am a firm believer that we give to the world, the skills, values and growth mindset that we have. Mary's knowledge about resident/patient care comes from a deep compassionate core. Alex Portillo, the clinical instructor, was great as well. Alex made what could have been a high stress environment into a calm, smooth and knowledgeable experience. There were a few issues with the skills lab training, so this is the reason for a 4 star review. Overall, I had a wonderful experience. I am deeply grateful and appreciative for what McKallen Medical Training provided. I would highly recommend the school to all potential enrollees. Just go in with an open heart and mind and you will reap the benefits and rewards.

What happened four weeks into my 10 week program? They TEXT ME to tell me that they are *closing down* the Santa Fe Springs campus, and ask me if I'm willing to double my commute time by going to the Ontario campus to get my EKG Certification, or tripling my commute for their main Carson campus. They weren't even professional enough to send an email - they text me this information, lolz. If you are neurodivergent, and don't learn via lecture/being spoken to for four hours every night - and you have a job? This is *not* the school for you. As someone who works full-time, 10 hour shifts Monday through Thursday so I can attend the five hour in-person lab on Fridays, and learns absolutely nothing from the lecture model? It would be nice to use the required four hours Monday through Thursday evenings to, Idk - LEARN the material required to pass the certification test. But I can't. I'm required to keep my camera on, zone out, and pretend I'm taking in anything from said lecture. The majority of my learning takes place during the in-person lab on Fridays, from the providers at my current place of employment, and during my actual "time off" on the weekends because the four hours of required attendance "lecture,"Monday through Thursday, teaches me *nothing.* To be honest, I'm lucky I already work in the medical field, and at a clinic with providers and nurses that actually care, so they've done more explaining and teaching than AUMT has this past month. In summary, I can't wait for this nightmare to end. Two days of *heavy lecture,* covering multiple chapters/subjects, and two days of listening to my fellow students present a slide show or their arts and crafts project, for 10 weeks is torture.

From the start, Hilary at the front office has been friendly, welcoming, and incredibly helpful in coordinating schedules for my three daughters. I really appreciate how the director and staff hold the students accountable and stay actively involved in their progress. They meet regularly with each child to review grades, missing assignments, and test scores, and they keep parents informed every step of the way. As a parent, I truly value being kept in the loop and knowing exactly how my children are doing. Recently, when I noticed some changes in my children's grades, I reached out to the staff--and they had already noticed the same and were planning a meeting to address it. That level of attentiveness and care gave me such peace of mind. It's clear that the C2 team genuinely cares about each student's success. My oldest daughter, who is a senior this year, has been getting help with her college essays, and I love that C2 stays on top of important deadlines and helps her stay organized through the college application process. All three of my kids really like their tutors and enjoy their sessions. They never find them boring, and they appreciate having someone knowledgeable who can explain challenging topics in a way that makes sense. Overall, I have nothing but positive things to say about C2 Education Center. The staff is caring, professional, and truly invested in helping students reach their goals.
