This is about 2 miles outside Caernarfon and they are both the traditional chippy plus a indian takeaway.Two door s are next to each other and the place inside is clean any look s like it's had a refit not that long back. The girls behind the counter are chatty enough and took the order with the minimmun of fuss.Food well packed and good size portions all round.The prices were what you would expect to pay anywhere else so not too bad on that score either.I for one will be going back here for a takeaway soon. read more

If you want a decent kebab in caernarfon, just make the extra effort and head over to bontnewydd. The kebabs the fellas over in the curry section do are second to none. I love caernarfon kebabs, they make fantastic saturday night post pub food, and the staff are great there, but they just can't compete with the monster kebabs the boys in bontnewydd serve up. I reckon they price their food so well due to them missing out on the post pub trade as obviously on a night out you'll pick something up that's convenient not head 2 miles out of town to grab something to eat. The chippy section is pretty average, the portion sizes are ok, but I've seen much better sized fish in places further afield. I've never tried a curry there but am sure it would be decent based purely on the kebabs. The food has always been of a high quality, and the staff are great at what they do. The place always looks clean, and you can see right through to the back and even that area is spotless. Very much recommended for the area. read more

Its a shame but they don't know how to cook their chips properly. (or choose not to for time or energy-fuel saving purpose) Always anemic and soggy and so lack flavour. Not enough heat and not fried for long enough. Given them more than a fair number of go's . Fish not best quality either, batter always greasy. Seems popular enough due mainly to passing trade I imagine. People do rave about their chicken kebabs, If you like that kind of thing. I write this in order for them to address the issue and be the great chippy they could be. All my complaints are easily rectifiable. read more

Overall great, this place does everything Pizza, Chips and Kebab/Curry meaning you can get the best of all worlds if you mix and match or have several people wanting different things. The Chicken Kebab is immense both in size and taste sensation. If you survive it, will fill you up! Parking is just on-street nearby and there is no cash machine in the village so make sure you have hard currency to barter with. It does offer outside picnic benches for those wishing to watch traffic on the A487 pass by or for those wishing to watch in disbelief as large wagons are abandoned on the A road for fellow haulier-customers to get their tea. I have also had mixed reviews about the fish quality. I had a long day working in Porthmadog and missed lunch so at about 4.30pm I drove past this place on my way back to the Midlands. I stopped and pulled in, there was no one else in the shop and I asked for fish and chips. Fish will be a few minutes the guy said, no problem as I would rather wait for a freshly cooked fish. I was about 5 minutes down the road in heavy traffic before I opened the package and clocked what he'd had the audacity to serve me. The chips were refried husks from the previous days leftovers but more shockingly he had actually rebattered a previously cooked fish and cooked it again. The batter was about half an inch thick and the fish was a disgusting grey colour throughout. It looked and tasted disgusting and was completely inedible. Bad food is one thing but anyone who has the cheek to serve up what this guy served up to me is just breaching guidelines for safe food preparation and to be Frank is conning his customers. mover to this area some years ago and have visited most fast food outlets being a shift worker it is sometimes better for me to pick a meal up on the way to or from work, if i'm in a bit of a rush. The chippy side is clean and well stocked, service is very good, the girls are fast and even the biggest orders for people in the nearby holiday park dont prove to be a problem for them. the chips are some of the best i've had in North North Wales. The Takeaway side is just as clean and the staff there are helpful and chatty, they too can takie large orders and left to get on with it. The only problem is parking, it's on a junchion and the nearby school means some times of the day you have to park nearby and walk to the shop. But the walk will be well worth it, food is good, prices are good and the staff are well up to the job. Overall much better than any of the nearby shops and leave places like th Codfather in the shade. if others want to make it in this game, visit this shop and see how it's done. and no I do not have any vested interest in this shop, I am a shift worker in security and trhis is my honest view. read more
