We're from the SF Bay Area and need our Asian fix when we're traveling. To our surprise, one of our favorite pho restaurants had a Now Closed Tuesday sign on the door. Bummmmmm-mer. You know how it goes. When you have something in mind to eat, your palette anticipates eating that. The mind says, "no substitutions, please." So, I hopped onto yelp.com (thank you) and entered Vietnamese food in Temecula. Golden Bowl popped up and it was only 1.2 miles from where we were. When we arrived, the menu offered more Thai dishes, but I noticed most of the clientele opted for Vietnamese dishes and pho. Nice menu! Nice people! That's always a good start when eating at a new restaurant. We ordered spring rolls, chicken pho, beef pho and two Thai ice teas. Then I noticed a sign saying "give a review on yelp or google and get a complimentary Thai ice tea." Done and as promised, here is my review. Firstly, thank you for giving us two Thai ice teas for this one review. That was very kind of the lady that served us. Honestly, I would have given a five star review regardless if there was a free Thai ice tea offer. We enjoyed everything we ordered!!! The beef pho seemed bottomless. I kept finding more meat under the rice noodles. The rice noodle was plentiful. No skimping here. The soup was tasty and comforting for both the chicken and beef pho. We met up with longtime military friends today. We've known each other for over 40 years! A recent passing of another friend prompted this get together. Tomorrow is never promised. So we agreed to not let time lapse for years before spending time together again. The restaurant is clean but it could change out some of their ceiling tiles, which were stained in various areas. Furniture was worn but still functional. Outdoor parking is plentiful. We seated ourselves since the restaurant had just opened up and we were the only ones present. Our server Irene was welcoming with an exuberant attitude & attentive service. We ordered Chicken Pad Thai, Chicken Pineapple Curry, Chicken Chow Mein, and Chicken Pad See Ew family style. Our friends ordered the Thai Iced teas. The food was fantastic and savory. It definitely hit the spot. Everybody enjoyed lunch! And we relished our company more! read more

This place is delicious! We had yellow curry with chicken and beef pad see ew. My only complaint is that the beef was a little charred, nothing terrible but definitely added a charred flavor to the rest of the dish. The yellow curry was excellent! I ordered to go but the gal that answered the phone was friendly and took my order quickly. Food was ready when I arrived about 15 mins later and still very hot. The inside has plenty of tables, the decor is a little worn but pretty much what you can expect from smaller restaurants like this. You don't go for the ambiance, you go for the excellent food. We have been coming here for years and will continue to be loyal customers. This is by far our favorite Thai restaurant in the area. They have the most authentic Thai tea and every meal has incredible flavor (our favorites being the Tom Yum Soup and chicken chow mein). Not only is the food consistently delicious, the service is always great. We are always welcomed with a smile and the staff is always very friendly and efficient. I have come to appreciate Pho. The broth, which cooks all-day is extremely complex, flavored by bones, herbs, spices and vegetables which done correctly is very delicious. I love the textural contrast of silky rice noodles and tender meats as well as the ability to customize with sprouts, basil, cilantro and various sauces. We came to Golden Bowl to experience their pho. The menu is a hodgepodge of Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese food options. We also like to compare spring rolls. Today we both order the shrimp spring rolls to share and each of us ordered a bowl of the Pho Ga. The spring rolls resembled a joint rolled by Cheech & Chong and was accompanied by a rich peanut sauce and another sweet sauce. They were fresh, big and I enjoyed the flavor but my wife thought the lettuce was overpowering the rest of the roll. If we wanted a damn salad we would have ordered one. The pho was pretty awesome. The broth was delicious and there were oodles of noodles to be found and also a fair amount of chicken. Price for pho was 13.99 and the 4 spring rolls were 9.99. Good price for the area. Service was pleasant and paced well. We will return to Golden Bowl but next time to try their Thai food. It looks good. read more
