Once in the treatment room he comes and states that he's "...very busy, as you can see, and I don't have a lot of time". I reminded him that I waited for over an hour. He went on to tell me "The Feds are not going to pay to have your knee fixed, because you're overweight". Only thing is, I have Horizon BC-BS PPO! Feds? What was he referring to? I could barely walk when I arrived, and I could barely walk when I left, not even so much as a suggestion as to what I might try, or might give me some relief. I went to another Ortho, got exactly what I needed, and extremely happy that he did not get any additional fees from BC-BS on my behalf. Bottom line, for whatever selfish, self-serving reasons, he did not want to help my situation...a "real medical professional"

Dr Plotka prescribed prednisone and suggested changes to my orthotics which I agreed to. The thought was to have the corrected orthotics returned by Christmas. Christmas passed then New Years and still the orthotics were not available and there was no communication with Dr. Plotka or his office staff. After multiple calls to the office, the orthotics finally arrived in mid January. To my dismay, the orthotics were completely wrong. The right foot did not have the correct modification and the left, which was fine when sent out with the right, was terribly distorted. I brought them back. Dr Plotka had to send them back for the correct modification. Two weeks later, I picked them up and they were fine. However, when I received my Medicare statement, Dr Plotka charged Medicare again for the second and correct modification. I questioned the second charge with Dr Plotka. He explained that he had to complete paperwork and drive the orthotics to the post office for mailing to the orthotics company. I have worn orthotics for more than 30 years, had them modified on other occasions and have never experienced so many problems. If they had been correctly modified the first time, a second time would not have been needed...a second charge to my insurance. He should absorbed this an unfortunate failure and not charged the insurance company a second time. I will not return to this office or recommend Dr Plotka .

However, getting in to see him can be a bit difficult. Wait times vary, as he can range from being on time to over an hour late as he also works at two hospitals. He also only has weekend hours once a month, so if you need to see a doctor on a Saturday or Sunday, you'll either need to go to Urgent Care or to the ER. His staff also can be iffy, but that's changed recently. They are much better now. Overall though he does a great job and his bedside manner is actually some of the best I've had from any family doctors I've seen.

It's been less than three months since he repaired…read morethe large full tear coupled with an actual hole in my rotator cuff, damaged labrum, bone spur, and significant arthritis in my shoulder. My physical therapist and all of my friends and family are surprised and impressed with the speed and extent of my recovery. For several weeks I have had close to full range of motion and have completely resumed my normal activities. My pain is minimal at best and usually totally absent. So, why is this the case? In addition to Dr. Thacker's skill as a surgeon, he insisted that I do a specific exercise (from day 1) requiring me to reach my operative arm behind my back. He told me that although physical therapists and most other doctors would indicate that that particular movement should not be done until weeks after surgery, I should follow his directions. And luckily for me, I did just that! Dr. Thacker does not rush to surgery. I had a cortisone shot and over a month of physical therapy before it became clear to me that surgery was my only option (although Dr. Thacker probably realized that early on). However, he listens to his patients and respects their feelings and opinions. He is a kind, friendly, and talented doctor with a great sense of humor. Plus, he does not rush through appointments and will patiently answer questions (which in my case were a lot)! It is true that the pain level during the first week post-op is very high. There is no getting around that. But after that initial period, progress and recovery can proceed rather quickly. Just choose Dr. Thacker as your surgeon!

I see positive reviews for Dr. Sunil Thacker but that was not my experience. If I could give…read morenegative stars I would. He performed knee replacement surgery on me that I later found out based on the MRI was not necessary. I never fully recoververed from this unnecessary procedure that was almost 2 years ago. He acted like a replacement is nothing, I'm here to tell you it's a huge surgery. The only thing he cared about was that the hardware was in correctly, he did not care that all the surrounding tissue was not healing and never has. He is walking out the door while you are still asking questions and kept ignoring my pain and lack of healing. I have since seen a few specialists that said not only did I not need the replacement but that this is as good as my knee will ever be. I live with constant pain and lack of mobility. Be cause I no longer have full use of my left knee it has negatively effected my right knee. PLEASE be very cautious when choosing to use DR. Thacker, he seems great on the surface but his ego stops him from having empathy when things don't go well and he will recommend surgery even when not necessary.
