There's a lady that works the front desk that is not consistent with prices and rude. She changes the prices day to day, and just insist on you paying what she asked you to pay, without any explanation this is very unprofessional, there are lots of safety hazards, and the rooms are very outdated! Basically one step above the local dump. Showed up to check in at 8 PM - door chime rang - nobody at the desk. Okay, small town, maybe they're helping someone and will be right back. 5 min later, call out "hello" to the open door behind the desk. No answer. I call the after hours number on the back of their open/closed sign and apparently wake up the front desk clerk in the office who comes out to check me in. Printer doesn't work. No receipt and it's a business expense. I'll try in the morning. Get to the room, TV doesn't even turn on. At least there's a bed... and it doesn't smell. One night. Everything else is full. Well, I was a little concerned when we first booked here as all the other local hotels were quite a bit more expensive. But surprisingly this hotel was great. The service was good and the room was kept clean. Being right next to a Stripes, Subway and other restaurants was the effect for us. This place enabled me to keep quite a bit of my per diem. I will stay here again whenever I am working nearby. read more

Being on tight budget. This 70's-80's era hotel at $67 a night was perfect. It has been renovated and has everything you need. Very clean, smelled clean. All appliances appear to be new and in working order. There were some kind of beetles ( not bed bugs) on the sidewalk but they had a pretty decent rain the night before that would explain that. The bath room was as nice as a 40 year bathroom could be. Very clean .Water around here has a strong chlorine smell. I have smelt this in other small towns. The lady at the front counter was very nice. There was a review about bed bugs about 2 years ago and we looked and found no evidence of any kids of bug infestation. - [ ] I am in the military and my husband works in the Windmill field in Texas, so we travel a lot, and I have to say I'm absolutely disappointed with the way the hotel is set up, when you call in the morning they barely talk because they are hace asleep, and we stayed 3 nights there until Bed Bugs, yes I said "Bed Bugs" ate me and my husband alive for the 3rd night, and which neither of us had ever had bed bugs so we didn't know what to think the first night we had bites everywhere. I went and talked to the hotel staff and the manager the night we found bed bugs and we had to leave to go somewhere else to stay, all I requested was my money back and the fees I had paid so I can go find somewhere else comfortable for me and my husband and my puppy, the next 3 days I waited on them to pay my money back that we had spent, 395.50 for 7 nights with a 60.00 dog fee, the hotel manager had dented 239.00 to my account and not the full amount as we discussed the night we had got everything out to leave because of the bed bug infestation in the room. As I said I had not asked for anything more, not the medicine I had to get for the bites on my body, the bed bug spray I had to get to spray my car with, the money I had to spend to wash everything we had in the room with the begs, only the money i had spent on the room to have somewhere else comfortable to lay my head down. I'm very disappointed that an establishment of business that's supposed to promote a healthy and risk free stay, is not kind enough to accept the fact they have bed bugs and have the kindness to give the guests money back, on top of it all I did not once here "I'm sorry", from the manager when I expressed my concerns for not only me, but the other guests in the hotel staying. I had told the manager that the bed bug that was found on the mistress, and was given to the front desk associate was dead, which was in fact not the one that had bitten me and my husband maybe 30 seconds apart the night that we had finally desired to check everything not knowing we were going to find bed bugs. I had expressed to the manager that, it is a huge health risk for people that are currently staying and people to come, and it should be treated immediately, not just a "new mattress", as the front desk associate had said on the phone with the manager they needed. I would not recommend here, for anyone, not only are they inconsiderate of people's well being, they are very unprofessionally ran at the lowest level. For 50 bucks a night, better then expected. Being pet friendly was a plus. Room is outdated, but for what you pay at least it's not infested. Good location and peaceful area. Would recommend if on a budget or need a place to sleep and have fur babies. read more

This is an excellent choice for the person who doesn't want to spend a lot of money on an expensive hotel and doesn't care about everything being new and modern. It's not a roach motel either. I got a room for $50, it was the smallest room and had a king size bed. The room was huge and had a couch, a table, chairs, a desk, drawers. It was clean, but this is an older hotel and they haven't updated it, but that's ok with me. Wifi is free and they charge $10 extra for pets. The guy checking me in was nice and friendly. The next morning I looked over their complimentary breakfast. They had cereal, some packaged muffins, fruit, toast, coffee. The only thing I didn't like was there was no one at the desk at 6:35am to check me out so I had to leave my key on the computer and hope I didn't get charged anything extra. read more

We stayed here because most of the other hotels had no rooms, not sure why as there was nothing going on. The man at the front desk was very friendly and made you feel welcome. The room is old and has not been updated. It was clean, the bathroom was clean and the AC worked. All big pluses. I wanted to give one more star but the two queen beds were dreadfully uncomfortable and I slept maybe 2 whole hours. If you are one of those people that can sleep anywhere then it might not be a problem but seriously you could feel every coil. read more

We attempted to stay at the Gold Key Inn 2023 S Bridge St, Brady, TX 76825. The stench in the room was horrible I attribute it to the temperature. The room was 102 degrees when we walked in, turned the air conditioner on and walked across the parking lot and ate some BBQ. 1 hour and 45 minutes later went back to the room which was 1640hrs. The temperature is now 97 degrees. My son suggested we go have a beer. I asked the front staff what the deal was they offered another room it was at 103 degrees. We opted to hope ours would cool down. Returning to the room at 1755hrs temperature now at 95 degrees near the cooler in the bathroom 98 degrees. Thought if I showered it would feel better bad move the damn water was hot no matter where you placed the valve. We left asked for nothing more than half the room rate back and they refused. WORST PLACE IN TOWN TO STAY. The room was filthy the soap felt melted and the towels had a musty order. So off to the Holiday Express around the corner and slept like babies. read more
