In mid July while working I discovered a bump near my belly button, the umbilical cord. It came out…read moreof nowhere quickly. And during the month of July I had my dermatologist appointment. While she examined me she noticed the bump and stated that's a hernia. And she mentioned a doctor who specialized in hernia's by the name of Dr. David Burns. I told her I had scheduled an appointment shortly after my appointment with her with my regular doctor for him to look at it. Within a few hours I visited my regular doctor and he to stated it was a hernia. I showed him the name of the doctor my dermatologist mentioned and he said he had met him and suggested I try him. I came home and called his office and got an appointment on July 16th. I met Dr. Burns on the 16th, he said it's a hernia. I said you have been recommended by 2 other medical people and I'd like you to perform the operation. He directed me down the hall to his private secretary Veronica, and she sat with me went over the details and times available. My surgery was scheduled right then and there, August 8th. Everything went well. 19 days, everything said and done! I was pleased with Dr. Burns, Veronica, and the entire operating room staff. They were all professional and caring people.

Went for a steroid injection in my lower back...BCBS cost estimator put it at $500 or less, but that only covered "professional services" - shame on Unity for not disclosing the amount of the "hospital services" at the time the appointment was scheduled. $2000 for a steroid injection is beyond insanity for 3 minutes of the doctor's time. I have a family member who works at a different pain management clinic, who informed me they charge $1000 for an injection if you have no insurance. So as we humans do, I assumed it can't be more than that if I have insurance - $2000 with insurance is disgusting. Clearly the medical community is trying to capitalize on the well-off, aging, baby boomer population while they still can. For your sake, I hope your experience is better.

I made an appointment with Regional Health and was assigned Dr. Celso Dios. He is a good Vascular surgeon. He looked at mine and determined I should have surgery in my right leg. One of the important things regarding this surgery is blood circulation. Got to keep the blood running, no clotting. My total surgery lasted approximately 1 hour. Dr. Dios removed a total of 25 veins, and sealed off another. From start to finish, with surgery and the healing process, I have no complaints, a good Dr., Specialist,I highly recommend him.
