I remember how nervous I was to even speak to someone about such a personal journey, let alone show them. Have you ever just gone to your bestie's, swung the door open, plopped down on the couch in your sweats and messy bun, and gossiped while watching the Kardashians? That's what it felt like to be around Dr. Amalfi. Her vibe is that of instant comfort, like I wasn't sharing my deepest insecurities. My consult was filled with laughter and getting to know each other while I tested out sizes/discussed how my most cherished tiny humans destroyed my body along with my self esteem. After having children and working so hard to get my body back, I barely could look at myself naked, and here I was, totally comfortable in front of her; no cares about my truffle shuffle at all! Her staff was incredible, I never felt rushed, not once. The day of, the nurses were the same; I was comfortable and cracking jokes, they calmed my nerves and I knew I was in good hands. Now, the nitty gritty; does the post-op recovery suck? Yes, yes it does. I am always on the go and terrible at resting. But I was prepared; I knew exactly what to expect, and my pain control was so well thought out and I felt like my needs were always met. Now, I have had many surgeries in my life due to a medical condition, so I know my way around a recovery. This was the first time I've had the choice, the others were non-optional. Comparing the two, I have never been more prepared, had such a comprehensive pain management and recovery plan, and had this level of enthusiastic support. If you're still reading, I know you want to know about the mommy makeover results. Giirrllllll, that was the one thing I was not adequately prepared for! I made sure I had realistic expectations, especially given my weird 2nd cousin twice removed pair of melons I handed her. My husband will confirm that upon seeing them for the first time, I looked at them, looked at him, and screamed "OMG YOU SEE THESE BOOBIES?!". And my stomach was flat, I was in awe. But she listened, my natural shape was still there. I had this fear of looking fake, when I just wanted to be me. Well, she delivered. What I wasn't expecting was what the months to come would bring. As my body healed and everything settled, my confidence came back. Stronger than it was before by a ten fold. I wasn't ready for this to make me love myself in a way I hadn't before. I mean, I was washing my face twice a day and putting lotion on my skin. What I mean is, I WANTED to care for myself in a way I hadn't before. I even carried myself differently. Even though no one could tell I had anything done, because I was real good at tucking my tummy into my mom jeans, I WAS DIFFERENT. I felt stronger. I was taking more chances in life, I finally had the confidence to. I had no idea that I'd find myself in all of this! I still looked like me, it was as natural as I wanted the results to look, more than I could've imagined, and I was finally acting more like myself than I had in years. It sounds cliche, but this 100% changed my life! Being finally happy in my own skin and erasing all the space in my brain of negative self talk, left room for me to grow and step into my own. Even further, I had gone for 2 years to pelvic floor therapy to help with my abdominal muscle separation and had that corrected along with my makeover. I went from living at my chiropractor's office due to incredible lower back pain to none. I didn't know that tightening that muscle would relieve my chronic back pain, but here we are! At first, I was quiet about what I had done, I wanted to keep it a secret. But now, I am so proud of what it has helped me do, so far beyond a makeover, that I want to empower any woman out there to put herself first! In mid July while working I discovered a bump near my belly button, the umbilical cord. It came out…read moreof nowhere quickly. And during the month of July I had my dermatologist appointment. While she examined me she noticed the bump and stated that's a hernia. And she mentioned a doctor who specialized in hernia's by the name of Dr. David Burns. I told her I had scheduled an appointment shortly after my appointment with her with my regular doctor for him to look at it. Within a few hours I visited my regular doctor and he to stated it was a hernia. I showed him the name of the doctor my dermatologist mentioned and he said he had met him and suggested I try him. I came home and called his office and got an appointment on July 16th. I met Dr. Burns on the 16th, he said it's a hernia. I said you have been recommended by 2 other medical people and I'd like you to perform the operation. He directed me down the hall to his private secretary Veronica, and she sat with me went over the details and times available. My surgery was scheduled right then and there, August 8th. Everything went well. 19 days, everything said and done! I was pleased with Dr. Burns, Veronica, and the entire operating room staff. They were all professional and caring people.

This was the primary reason for the sugery... to correct an inverted nipple and to round-out a 'squared' area of one breast for symmitry It was a big and disappointing surprise when I woke up. Dr. Vega by the way, said he thought I wanted to be smaller just ahead of the surgery(!?). I had to remind him we discussed him trying out 2 or 3 different sizes to get a C/D cup, which I was before the cancer, and for symmitry. It was clear he forgot, and did not order larger sizes. Whe we discussed that the fat transfer wouldn't have made a difference, he himself suggested I get a 2nd opion. I did.... going to the doctor he recommended. Mistake. At that visit this doctor referred to Dr. Vega by his first name (friends or what?) and said the work was 'just fine'. ("not") Dr. Vega's office then sends a letter saying that since I went to another practice I am no longer their patient. Please note... my records were not sent to the office I used for a 2nd opion, I went for a 2nd opinion at his suggestions, and I never said I was leaving his practice. What is interesting, is that the fat-transfer work I had done prior (but in Florida so no longer covered by my insurance) was great. And my new, local doctor was able to complete the 'tweaks' just fine. Last, there were no office visits of any sort made prior to the surgery, and so it is not a surprise Dr. Vega lost track. But he did not make it right, and his arrogance was awful though he did call to personally apologize after one particularly nasty visit. I expect my surgeon to have just enough arrogance and confidence to cut me open. But not to the point where s/he does not listen. This review will be shared elsewhere as well.

Went for a steroid injection in my lower back...BCBS cost estimator put it at $500 or less, but that only covered "professional services" - shame on Unity for not disclosing the amount of the "hospital services" at the time the appointment was scheduled. $2000 for a steroid injection is beyond insanity for 3 minutes of the doctor's time. I have a family member who works at a different pain management clinic, who informed me they charge $1000 for an injection if you have no insurance. So as we humans do, I assumed it can't be more than that if I have insurance - $2000 with insurance is disgusting. Clearly the medical community is trying to capitalize on the well-off, aging, baby boomer population while they still can. For your sake, I hope your experience is better.

I made an appointment with Regional Health and was assigned Dr. Celso Dios. He is a good Vascular surgeon. He looked at mine and determined I should have surgery in my right leg. One of the important things regarding this surgery is blood circulation. Got to keep the blood running, no clotting. My total surgery lasted approximately 1 hour. Dr. Dios removed a total of 25 veins, and sealed off another. From start to finish, with surgery and the healing process, I have no complaints, a good Dr., Specialist,I highly recommend him.

My PCP had referred me here and I had to call over the course of 3 months for them to accept the referral. I should've known something then. 2. Notoriously, the front desk staff lack awareness of the patient and patient experience. There can always be rude people, but they actually have little to no people skills. In addition, I actually saw two of the staff discussing what to do with a patient on the phone while the 3rd hung up and said sorry. By the look of her face, I don't think it was an accident. 3. The first time I came, Dr. Freeling took a nail biopsy for fungus. He nicked my cuticle by accident and didn't say sorry. I had to walk with a nicked cuticle which hurt like hell. I waited at the office for check out for like 10 minutes before the front desk lady (seeing me stand in front) actually acknowledge me. 4. I had waited for the biopsy results to return as he said it would take 2 weeks. They gave me the portal information to see there results. It took approximately 2 months to get the results (which only happened because I called them) just for them to say they don't put the results up??? Front desk then told me my results and said she'd call back. 5. I get a call back to have a follow up for my results. They schedule me the next morning. Front desk says their computer breaks down to check my referral and then say "hopefully my referral works. I will have to wait until the following morning for it to work." Mind you it was 2:09 PM. 6. I come into the office at 8:35 AM just to be seen for less than 1 minute to discuss the results (negative) and that a prescription was sent to my pharmacy. In my head, I'm thinking this could've been a phone call but then realized that he gets paid when I go in. 7. when I check out, a 2 minute endeavor takes 10 minutes. front desk tells Me the prescription was sent and that I have to pay $50 (for the 2 visits). So they basically scammed me to come in just to get $50. Again, I have to wait for the staff to talk and when I am ready to pay, she asks, "are you paying?". I then say "do I have to?" And then says "I have to collect something." It was actually the most ridiculous visit I've had. I will not be going there again but I implore you to find other options. It actually is this bad.
