Oh my goodness Gogi Matcha is a god send. While in Cologne for two days, I was looking for comfort food that didn't involve pork or sausages and Gogi Matcha came to save the day. My friend and I shared the fried chicken with potato wedges and the seafood tofu soup with vegetables and they were both very authentic, full of flavor and satisfying. Very very happy that we made this one of our meals here. If you have the chance to go, seize it because there aren't a lot of authentic Asian restaurants in Europe.

Great place for when you just can't eat another sausage in Cologne. It's pretty hard when you travel to find healthy and perfectly spiced Korean. Being from LA, we know a lot about Korean food, and Gogi Matcha is an authentic match in an unexpected place.

Great food, friendly staff. The soondubu jjigae was awesome. I'm used to more banchan (side dishes) coming out with the meal, but I understand markets are different from country to country and city to city. The place is covered in murals and plays kpop, so good atmosphere for a younger crowd.

Very nice Korean food. The lunch portions are a great deal. You can try rice wine here too. Full of Asians which is always a good sign.

Chimaek!!! Korean spicy fried chicken and Beer!!! Koreanisches pikantes Chicken Wings und Bier!!!!…read more I haven't had Chimaek in a few years and couldn't find this in a Germany restaurant yet. This restaurant did not disappoint. I asked them to make it spicy, but they didn't as most Germans don't eat very spicy food. I had one bite and the chicken was really good, but was a bit sweet with a chili taste. I asked for more a hotter sauce and they brought out one with a pair of plastic cooking gloves and warned me about the hot sauce. I have a high level of spice and hotness and am very aware of how to eat chili, so I tasted this sauce and it was very spicy. I poured it all over my hot wings, but I didn't end up using the plastic gloves as it was ok for me. There were a lot of people in the restaurant looking at me as I guess they aren't used to people eating or ordering really really really hot food. The chef was an older Korean lady that speaks German. She is the main and only cook and she cooked to perfection as you would expect in your grandmother's kitchen! I saw how she was able to cook 4-5 things at once and everything that came out of her small kitchen was perfect. If you go there and love to cook, just sit at the first table on the left and you can watch a great live cook. I ordered the Korean spicy fried chicken, Hite beer from a bottle, a bowl of kimchi, and a bowl of rice. I would have ordered Sundae, but they didn't have that here. If someone knows where to find that in Germany, please let me know. 5 stars Korean spicy fried chicken 5 stars Hite beer from a bottle 5 stars kimchi 2 stars Bowl of rice, wasn't the tastiest rice I have ever had and was a bit undercooked, which you would think wouldn't happen in an automatic rice cooker Ich habe seit einigen Jahren kein Chimaek mehr gegessen und konnte das noch nicht in einem deutschen Restaurant finden.

Bulgogi Haus offered four types of sauces when two is the norm, for varying combinations of flavors. The meats are grilled in front of you on charcoal, and the servers take care to replace the charcoal at least once so that you are not eating burnt pieces of meat. I really liked the concept of having the side dishes buffet-style. It's really a mood-killer when you run out of lettuce or salad in the middle of eating your meats then waiting for your server to refill your salads. The offerings included fried calamari, Korean-sushi, sticky and sweet potatoes, fish cakes, and kimchi. Bulgogi-Haus does not seem to use MSG, even in their yummy kimchi, and I was simply content after the meal without having to reach for extra glasses of water. Kudos for having a coat rack separate from the dining tables so that the coats don't smell like meat after, and kudos for the plum wine/aloe drinks on the house!

While the electric grill doesn't eliminate all the meat odor from your clothes, you could get by with a nice walk outside. (I did this before a concert and no one gave me the stink eye during the show, so I am assuming that my strategy succeeded.) Meat.ing is quality Korean BBQ in a chic setting. You will be comfortably full, but this is not what you would necessarily seek out to pig out. Its side dish offerings are delicious and apparently use very little or no MSG, evidenced by how comfortable my stomach felt after the meal. The kimchi is on the sour side, which I personally prefer in ramen soups rather than eating it as a side dish. But all the other side dishes made up for it. The meats are well prepared and quite tender. We came for dinner and chose Menu 1, which includes 3-layered pork belly, sirloin, and three types of marinated meats (chicken, beef, and pork). The marinade was a good balance of sweet and savory. The dinner offerings are stylized as course offerings, so you can expect appetizer (fried dumplings) and dessert (honey yogurt with fruit). Lovely dinner option in Koln and a must visit if you want a great Korean BBQ experience!

The friendly waitress greeted us with warm towels to clean our hands and a free dumpling appetizer (mandu) to start. The banchan (side dishes) were also a great variety (and for those unfamiliar with Korean restaurants, the plentiful side dishes are always free.) The presentation was also nice, and the meat was well-marinated. We chose Menu 1, which included pork, chicken, beef, samgyupsal, and bulgogi. Dinner ended with a refreshing yogurt/fruit dessert that was simple but hit the spot and cleansed the palette after a hearty meal- also included in the menu (complimentary). Cost was very reasonable, considering the sheer amount of food- 22.90 per person (excluding drinks). Another bonus- they use electric grills, which means no smokey charcoal smell on your clothes afterwards. Some people prefer coals, but I sometimes prefer the simple method of electric- seems better for the health too (less carcinogenic fumes, hopefully?). If you haven't been here yet, go! Service is very friendly, and most of the servers can speak English, Korean, and German very well. (Note: I've been to some of the best Korean BBQ places in America, and I have to say that European Korean BBQ is much different. Atmosphere is different, taste is slightly different, and I've yet to see a place offer LA galbi. It's the same way that Italian, Spanish, and even American cuisine is interpreted and presented drastically different in Europe, probably because of different ingredients, as well as the need to meet the European palette of the typical clientele. It's fascinating for me to go to Korean restaurants in Europe and see the cultural translation and spin on it.)
