I twisted my ankle in October and suffered a hamstring problem leading to the SD Holiday Half Marathon in December. I wasn't a believer in acupuncture until Greta treated me.  As a runner and triathlete, injuries are inevitable especially when you're training for races.  During my Ironman training I had a foot injury that was nagging me, and not wanting the injury to hinder my training for too long I resorted to trying acupuncture.  After some research and talking to her I found that one of the areas Greta specializes in is sports medicine.  Within 2 sessions she alleviated my foot pain and I was back to training.  I had also saw her for treatments for a pinched nerve that affected my upper‑back and neck where turning my head resulted in excruciating pain.  After a couple of treatments I was able to turn my head again without the pain.  With her treatments I was able to finish my training season and completed my Ironman. I'm not going to lie, before going to Greta, I was skeptical of acupuncture. But after years of reoccurring shoulder injury, my options were coming down to surgery, cortisone shots, or acupuncture. Greta's work greatly exceeded my expectations. My shoulder is totally healed now. I weight lift frequently. There was about a year where I couldn't comfortably bench press the bar (45 lbs). I had a pinched nerve in my neck. Could not twist my neck to look over my shoulder, my left arm would go numb, could not ride my motorcycle, could not go surfing, it was no fun. I have Cervical Radiculopathy - which affects my left upper arm and is a pain that limited by computer usage, hobbies and motorcycle riding. Anything that requires me to look up or rotate by neck (like checking for traffic, paddling out, riding a bike) is uncomfortable causing my left arm to go numb and my neck to get sore and stiff. Enough so that I felt it was dangerous to ride since I could not check for traffic. I went though a series of PT which helped but the problem came back, was adviced to see Greta and I'm super glad I did. Never thought much about accupunture but it works and to my suprize there was no pain. Greta's office is very peaceful and relaxing. Greta is very calm and helpful. After a few sessions I was feeling better, after the series, I was able to Ride my bike for 1/2 hour without as much discomfort as well as my other hobbies. I never thought acupuncture would be this effective! I came to Greta with sharp pains in my shoulder and a loss in mobility in my arm as a result of a rotator cuff issue. I felt relief after my first treatment and 95% better after my second. I just went in for my third and final treatment and I feel great. I had never experienced acupuncture, was not a big fan of needles and was somewhat skeptical. I tried acupuncture because I felt like I was heading down for an MRI and/or cortisone shot and figured that at least I should try some other alternatives first. I am so glad I did. I have full mobility back in my arm, no more pain and I can sleep again at night. Greta combines acupuncture with a deep massage of the affected area. The combination is perfect.
