To Whom It May Concern:…read more This is a complaint letter about my homestay. According to the bill, I pay $ 820 Canadian dollars for 3 weeks and an extra day. When I received Mrs., I was assigned a room in the basement of her house and she handed me a copy of the keys to the basement and my room. I could never close the door of my room because it is damaged or stuck. She was very nice to me but she never explained the rules of the house to me, except when I asked for the wifi I had to pay her $ 18 Canadian dollars for the internet service, which is not included in the homestay, so I had to pay for it. During the first week for me everything was a new experience, especially the room where I slept. The bed is lined with plastic, as if it were new and never have removed the plastic. This is extremely uncomfortable and hot at night, as well as noisy since moving at night makes noise. Also, in the mornings I wake up with a sweaty back because the plastic prevents any type of ventilation. In addition the basement is extremely and unbearably humid. The first morning I noticed puddles on the floor. At first I thought that I accidentally spilled a glass of water but I realized that it was simply the humid environment. This basement has no dehumidifier. When I told Norma about the humidity in the room she told me that there was no problem and placed a small heater in my room, which she herself plugged into the socket. This did not work ,since the following mornings were just as humid and I woke up sneezing from the same moisture/mold/mildew. The basement had a washing machine but no dryer. The only time I used the washing machine my clothes took too long to dry even some clothes I had to use them a little wet. This is terrible and unacceptable. It is actually insanity. At first she only put a single roll of paper in the bathroom. When I asked for more she was in shock! The basement was shared by two people. Each had their own room but we shared the bathroom, so a a single roll for two people is very little and insufficient. The homestay payment included breakfast and dinner. At first the food was good because it was fresh and freshly made, for example we were fed lasagna, rice, salad, juice, tea or coffee, beef and chicken. In the second week the food was bad because it was not fresh. It seemed as though the pantry had gone empty and she served us food scraps. On Friday, August 4, the lady of the house told us that Hansa had spoken to her on the phone because the students had not covered the total payment for the homestay. When I say students, I mean me and my roommate. From that day on many occasions has commented again the same even looks angry and is a bit rude. TO BE CLEAR, I HAVE PAID. My roommate and I went to the second floor of the Hansa building to ask Emma (Homestay Manager) and we explained the situation. However she said that it was too late to do anything and that we had to report from the first days or second week. I have the impression that the Hansa school does not care about these situations. For the Hansa school it does not matter that a student sleeps in a wet room, in a bed protected with plastic and eat stale remains of food. In a more positive note, I would like to congratulate the Hansa School because they have extraordinary teachers with a lot of patience and preparation, as well as being very kind. There are teachers who make me have more desire and courage to continue practicing English and never stop. I know it will not be easy but I will succeed, I want to say that with practice my English will be more fluid and understandable. However, I want to report the teacher J. C. of the grammar and pronunciation classes level 6 because he made fun of my pronunciation on some occasions and on one occasion laughed in front of the whole group while all my companions were silent. I decided to change teachers but I think that someone should do something about this unprofessional lack of respect. Maybe the director of the Hansa school should sensitize this type of teacher to be more compassionate of the education process. It is definitely possible that my English is very bad, but I am a Mexican citizen who pays her taxes in her country, who went to college, who continues to study to be a better professional, who has a respectable job in her country and above all I am a human being who deserves the same respect as who is reading this letter. My request is to reimburse me 7 meals that correspond to the days of Thursday, August 10 to Sunday, August 13 (breakfast only), which is the day I leave Toronto. I had such a great and unique experience during these classes. In the short period of time that I attended this class, I gained a vast array of knowledge that wasn't restricted to Business English only. The style of the classes were very stimulating, and everyday we all were able to discover a little bit about ourselves and others. The activities presented by the teacher and the way she would guide us through the process was just perfect to create a stimulating ambiance to learn in. Some of the lessons were more technical, for example, (business vocabulary and expressions) others involved individual presentations which would end up with the teacher evaluating the presentation and pointing out all the good and bad aspects. Her constructive criticism was very helpful. There was also group activities where we learned how to deal with different cultures and points of view, to reach the best results. Now, one thing the school really needs to pay attention to is at the registry desk, currently it's a mess! I've experienced and witnessed many times students coming to get help and the employees are forever busy on their computers. They see us there but they don't have the courtesy to at least say: "just hang on for a minute, I'm going to help you!" It's confusing especially for people that come for the first time, they don't know if they are at the right place or not. It just looks really bad on the school. A professional greeting is recommended. Other than that I have no complaints. Based on my experience I would give 5 stars, but because of the front desk I will give 4.

Hola, Okay, let me…read morestart off by saying this is a great course for those who are disciplined and really willing to learn and don't need constant prodding or pressure to study. I took a couple of courses 2 years ago and wasn't really into it. I was very busy at work. However, what this school offers you is a tiered program and a lot of interaction with other students, so it's more of an immersion than studying. The other part is that they don't give you tests (which I respect, but is a total downside for me because if I don't have pressure, I don't do well, so I was more focused on the cute girls). So why should you take this course? -Price - only $255 for 10 week course -You are travelling somewhere in Latin America (this is Latin American Spanish not Spain Spanish, which I learned that there are quite a few differences) -You have good self-discipline and can/will practice at home. -You have co-workers from Latin America and want to impress them that you know a bit of Spanish Why you shouldn't attend here -you want to know all the in's and out's of Spanish history -you are too busy at work or school to concentrate and practice at home. -you need tests to get you to study -you need to write professional business letters in Spanish -you want professionally trained teachers (most of these people are part-time) All this being said, the only reason I didn't learn a lot was because I wasn't totally into it and all my travel seemed to coincide with the key classes. So that is MY FAULT!. So I think if paid attention, studied, I would have learned a lot more and would give it four stars. The only problem is that from beginner level to intermediate level is a huge jump and don't warn you of that leap. When I went to the intermediate level, the director of the school called out 5-6 people in class to hang back and tell them they weren't ready. I was one of those. However, I found this extremely embarrassing and turned me a bit off and that is why I am docking a star to 3 stars. He wasn't wrong, but could have done this so much more discreetly. Otherwise, take a few beginner courses and if you study, you'll definitely learn a bit. Adios

Giving such last-minute notice left us with no alternatives and caused serious inconvenience. Canceling a course that was supposed to start on Monday at the very last moment shows a clear lack of professionalism. In addition, we paid from Turkey and incurred around $100 in bank transfer fees. This extra cost was completely wasted. The fact that this was not considered at all and the course was cancelled at the very last minute has significantly damaged our trust. This process has been very poorly managed, and the situation we experienced is unacceptable.

The teacher we worked with, Farnaz, despite being young is a very dedicated professional with detailed lesson plans and who clearly has her student's best interests at heart. They focus on one-on-one (or some group) lessons, but provide the service at a cost equivalent to what the larger ESL schools would charge for a 10-15 person class with significantly less student/teacher individual interaction. ARIA currently does not have their own classroom, but they more than make up for this by being flexible in meeting in quiet, public areas. I would strongly recommend ARIA ESL Learning Services for any serious ESL student; we have booked them for nearly 100 hours worth of lessons, and will continue with ARIA ESL for the foreseeable future. We have seen significantly more improvement in our two months studying with ARIA ESL than we had in the four months prior with the larger language schools. Highly recommend!
