I was considering not going back since my experience was so abysmal. But I contacted the school and informed them of how incredibly disappointed I was in the student for so many reasons. They apologized profusely and offered to assign a different student. I was hesitant, but agreed to a new student assignment. I cannot express how completely happy I am with the new assignment. His name is Landon Guy and he is the epitome of what all current and future dentists should strive for. He is knowledgeable, enthusiastic, kind, highly-skilled, creative, not at all condescending. He explains everything he's going to do before he does it. When he makes a suggestion for treatment, he always asks for my input. And he listens to my opinion. And he has a great sense of humor, which is always a bonus! My dental appointment anxiety is just about non-existent due to Landon's expertise. When he graduates, I fully expect to continue as his patient wherever he begins to practice.

I walked out of my oral surgeon appointment with Dr. Blakey today …read more Everyone who assured me it would be fine because they would be taking COVID 19 protocols seriously, has never been here. I was incredibly nervous about going into a room with my mouth open and breathing in someone's airborne droplets who had been in the room before me. Upon nobody took my temperature before I entered the facility. When I told the receptionist about this, she didn't seem to care. When, I told her I was incredibly nervous and felt like leaving and she said just I was welcome to leave. I decided that I would see the doctor but not take my mask off because at this point I was kind of freaked out. And justifiably so... The facility is dirty and run down. There were doors open with patients' mouths just hanging open that I could see as I walked down the hall. The patients were alone without doctors ... you'd think that they could at least close the door. My room was stationed next to an open area that smelled disgusting place that was where they clean the soiled instruments. There was no barrier or anything between the place where they put the dirty instruments and the hallway. No thank you-goodbye. Gross! I'm going to reserve the right to be bougie and go to a fan

Dr. Tim Turvey is an excellent doctor. He preformed my mandibular advancement and submental…read morelipectomy to fix the muscles under my chin. He was very professional and did not rush me through anything. He understood that this was a big deal for me and helped me feel more at ease. After I had the surgery and he had already been paid, he didn't drop off the face of the earth and continued his excellent standard of care in the weeks following at all of my follow up appointments. In fact, he even SAVED me money when it came down to time for surgery. It was initially thought that I might also need genioplasty, but after he took measurements and created pictures of likely after results, he concluded that I did not really need it. He could have easily said I did and I would have shelled out the $3500. For these reasons, even though I live 2.5 hours away (just over 5 hours round trip) from UNC hospital where he is in practice I am extremely pleased with my decision to make the long trek across state lines to have him for a surgeon. Additionally UNC hospital was an excellent experience as well. It is a teaching hospital and there is no shortage of doctors and residents there to make sure that you are comfortable and well cared for. Dr. Turvey's team of residents are truly learning under the very best, and it shows. I am now 5 weeks post-op and I could not possibly be more happy with my AMAZING results or the experience. A+ Doctor, A+ Hospital, and A+ Resident/Nursing/Tech-Intern Team= 100% satisfied! As a personal note, If you ever find yourself in UNC hospital for inpatient jaw surgery, or anything really, try the chocolate mousse! After my surgery when I was on a liquid/pureed food diet it was all I could eat in there- I couldn't get enough and they will bring you as much as you like; it was fabulous! Still can't believe it was light... lol good luck!
