I went exploring around a large rock named Goat Rock. I did not see any of the hoofed ungulates on my visit. To the south of Goat Rock, the beach was a little narrowed with occasional pieces of rounded sea glass and intact mussel shells. I picked one of the shells up and noticed a faint violet color. It was one of those light phenomena where exposure to light drains the color from the shell, meaning the next day the faint violet color was gone. Parking was limited and I was fortunate to arrived before the masses. There were not any trees for shade on the beach, though the cool of the water on my feet did provide reprieve from the warmth for my feet.

We wanted to check out their sweaters and ended up really loving this shop. The owner was super friendly, made great conversation, and told us about the 15% off deal they had going on. The employee at the register was also really nice and welcoming. I loved how unique their shirts and clothing were, and that they didn't have a ton of the same designs over and over. Everything felt cute, different, and perfect for the beach town vibe. Definitely recommend stopping in if you're in the area!

They also seem to rent kayaks, stock wet suits and often will host a food truck in their lot. It seems like a less touristy, more locals spot. I really enjoyed the area as the highway winds along the beach with many spots to pull off and enjoy the beautiful views of the ocean. Salmon creek area is nice with a parking area with restrooms available as well. There are trails that go down to the beach which depending on which you choose can be quite steep. Take your time and be rewarded by the cool fresh air coming off the water onto the beach. We took our time to wander along the water, finding shells and cool rock formations from the constant exposure to the water. There's quite a bit of driftwood on the beach which it looks like some have made into forts/ seating areas all of which are unique. Portions to the north of Salmon Creek are rocky but you'll find cool views from around each bend along the shore. I enjoyed our time on the beach exploring and watching the waves crash, the various birds in the surf and on the shore. Definitely worth the drive and taking the time to stop and enjoy nature.

Beautiful day where it wasn't too cold or too hot. Our camp ground was walking distance to this beach. We saw deers and lots sea gulls. There were mussel shells and crab shells in the beach. We came back in the evening to catch the beautiful sunset and had a campfire. Overall, I would come back and bring my own chair and just enjoyed the view!

Today was a beautiful sunny day at Bodega Head but even if it's raining, I love coming here to enjoy the views. Come prepared for some windy conditions just in case. The parking lot will get full on the weekends, especially during spring when you have a better chance of seeing whales. Several picnic tables available with friendly seabirds checking out what you're eating. Restrooms are next to the parking lot.

Goat Rock side no dogs allowed because the seals always wean their pups on the beach, but the dog friendly side is so spacious and a nice long stretch of beach with iconic rock arches out in the water that you will never forget. In my opinion, one of the most beautiful places in all of California and if it is low tide, there will be many starfish visible on the rock formations on shore lower section which is normally submerged! If you get a good sunset, this place cannot be beat for photos overlooking the water with those rock formations. It could make anyone with a cell phone camera take photos that look like a professional landscape photographer took them.

Rock the Goat…read more Smallish beach located inside Sonoma Coast State Park that's known for its eponymous rock formation and for being in the cult classic film "The Goonies." The Good: * Several small parking lots * Picnic tables * Restroom in the parking lot * Free to visit * There's a colony of harbor seals that reside here, and you can see the babies during pupping season from March - August. The Meh: * No dogs allowed at this beach due to the seals. The Ugly: * Not recommended for swimming due to sneaker waves and strong rip currents. * As usual, Yelp's location is absurdly wrong, and the mods are asleep at the wheel. Big shock, eh? If you want to get here, put 9528 Goat Rock Rd, Jenner, CA 95450 into your GPS or just use Google, whose locations are always correct. Conclusion: Nice beach to visit if you're in the area and especially if you like to visit old film locations.
