The academy's structured approach--requiring specific skills to be mastered at each stage--has clearly paid off. She's athletic and attentive, and the instructors have done a fantastic job channeling those strengths into steady improvement. Each level seems to take her about 5-6 weeks to complete, which speaks volumes about both her effort and the academy's teaching methods. With only two levels left after Manta Rays, she's well on her way to being ready for our HOA's competitive summer swim team, which runs six intense weeks with six tournaments. The difference in her confidence and ability in the water is easy to see. Honestly, I may not be able to swim away from her when she chases me in the pool next summer! Watching her master the different strokes has been exciting, and I'm grateful for the academy's clear progression system and supportive environment. This location has a bunch of young and unprofessional staff working inside. I had a private swim…read morelesson scheduled two weeks in advance, and I drove 45 minutes to get to this location. Upon arrival, I was asked whether the private instructor had reached out to confirm the lesson. I explained that they had not and even asked whether that was part of their normal protocol. I was told that it was not. Based on that information, I proceeded to get my child changed and prepared for the lesson. After my child was changed and ready, I was then informed that the instructor had to leave due to an emergency. While I completely understand that emergencies happen, the issue was the lack of communication. I should have been notified before driving 45 minutes to the facility and getting my child ready for a lesson that was ultimately canceled. What was even more disappointing was that there was no follow-up communication or effort to address the inconvenience after the canceled lesson. The entire experience was extremely unprofessional and a complete waste of my time. I would not recommend this location. If you value your time and expect basic communication and professionalism, I would strongly suggest going elsewhere.

The environment is welcoming for a little one who is easily stressed. We have Coach John, who I can't say enough positive things about, his patience soars to the sky. My son has had many whining episodes with tears and purely wanting to quit but Coach John never gives up. He has a way with children to make them excited about learning. He has gained my son's trust and always finds a way to make him successful. I was surprised to read the post on here describing a terrible trip to Crystal River, Florida. We were on the same trip and had a completely opposite experience. We had a memorable and fantastic time. I appreciated the time that Coach John and the owners of Sharkie's prepared us with a well thought out itinerary and for insuring that we had all the equipment necessary. On the day of each activity, I knew exactly where to go and never had to run out to get something we forgot to bring. The particular weekend we visited was the annual Manatee festival so the area was quite busy. I appreciated the block of rooms set aside for us so I didn't have to worry about hotels being full. Coach John was thorough to explain everything to be expected that our son didn't shed a single tear out of fear. His expertise and passion for scuba has made my husband and son excited to participate in the sport. I always say, we are grooming the next Jacques Cousteau. I think this is one of the best things that we could have done for him. He has no fear of water and they have taught him the love of swimming. He's now asked to go to the beach but alas, we're in a landlocked city so that'll be a planned trip. In Parent and Me classes, they introduce your infant to 2 1/2 year old to the water. The coach sings familiar nursery rhymes as you dunk your startled baby into the water. These classes work with starting to kick and orienting your child to the water and preparing them for an accidental fall in water. Roll over, roll over! Next is Level 1, this is from 2 1/2 - 5. We're getting into the meat of it, blowing bubbles, holding head under water, and look you get to use the noodle! My kid enjoys it and it looks like the bigger kids enjoy it as well. If you want your child to learn to swim, bring them here. The sooner the better. They are also extremely busy so if you're trying to sign up for the summer, good luck!

We we're all very well prepared for the knowledge checks. The pool portion of the training is really a great experience. We did the Friday, Saturday class. This worked best for our schedules. It makes for a long day, but Kim was patient and professional the entire day. If you have no knowledge or experience with diving, but have a desire to learn and an open mind, this is the place to go. You will leave class confident in your abilities.
