If you're a book lover, Cupboard Maker Books is the kind of place where you can walk in planning to…read morebrowse for a few minutes and suddenly realize half an hour has flown by. This independent bookstore is packed with character and hidden treasures around every corner. What makes the shop especially unique is its eclectic collection. You'll find: New books Signed copies Vintage and antique books Rare and unexpected finds tucked throughout the shelves One of the most memorable aspects of the store is its resident foster cats. It's not every day that you can spend time browsing books while a friendly feline lounges nearby. The cats add to the cozy atmosphere and make the experience feel even more special. The store itself invites exploration. With aisle after aisle of books, I found myself getting pleasantly lost among the shelves and discoveries. I easily spent 30 minutes browsing and honestly could have stayed much longer. A few additional highlights: Community bulletin board featuring local events and services Large parking lot with plenty of spaces Unique inventory that rewards browsing Warm, welcoming atmosphere full of personality What I appreciated most about Cupboard Maker Books was its character. In an age of online shopping and big-box retailers, places like this feel increasingly rare. Between the books, the cats, the community connections, and the countless hidden gems waiting to be discovered, it's a destination worth visiting. Whether you're searching for a specific title, a one-of-a-kind vintage find, or just a relaxing way to spend an afternoon, Cupboard Maker Books is well worth the stop. I can't wait to come back and see what treasures I uncover next.

I browsed through the books & finally landed on the true crime section, which peaked my interest. I grabbed a book & took it to checkout, they were polite & offered me a bag. The book price was very affordable & I even got a discount! Unfortunately the cats were hiding so I didn't get to say hello to them, but this is such a gem of a store & i recommend that you visit!

This little gem of a used bookstore can be found inside the delightful West Shore Farmer's Market…read more You might think at first that there isn't much to see, but when approaching the store inside the market, you come to discover that what exists in the hallway is only the outside of the Bookworm Bookstore. There's so much to see inside, with all kinds of book genres all well-organized and easy to search. The staff was incredibly friendly and approached me twice to ask if there was something they could help me find. They knew where everything was and knew sometimes even before they'd look what was on the shelves and what wasn't (or what just sold a couple of days/weeks ago). Very insightful and their kindness made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for the used book lover!

Check the days and hours before you visit. Lady Matilda and I come to the market for our meats and spices, grab a soft pretzel or three from the Amish kiosk, and see what the Bookworm has to surprise us. It's a friendly shop where they remember you and your tastes. I've converted a lot of clients and friends in the area who were quick to dismiss it as just another dirt-mall book dump. Absolutely not. The store carries the professionalism of classic independent booksellers with the fun of a friendly mom-and-pop store. Take a break from the busy market on your next visit.

So here it is, visit Robinsons Rare books only come to those…read morewho pay Hey Hey Hey Pretty fantastic rare book store and this is the kind of shop that you need to go shopping at instead of Barnes & Noble's - so you can keep them in business and keep things like this going. There was a time when these things were everywhere but that time is long past. Come and check it out and pick up a few things from here. Yes it's overpriced in some areas and it's enough to almost make me drop it to four stars but I really want to support these kinds of businesses and five stars will do fine.

5 Stars for a surprisingly large rare and antique book shop deep down within a bookstore…read more Follow the signs and make your way down underground for Robinson's Rare Books! This shop looks tiny when you first enter (downdownstairs in a great bookshop), but don't let your first glance deceive you. As you go from one small room into another and another and another, you will realize there are plenty of places to get lost looking through old books. Some titles are in other languages (lots of German), and some are behind locked glass doors (the truly rare stuff), but most are fun, random old books with worn pages and aged leather bindings. Looking through them is fun and could help you kill a few hours for sure. So, whether you're looking for a special, rare find (in the hundreds of dollars), or in it for the look of old books on your pristine shelves ($10 and $20 aisles!), this deceptively large rare book shop should have you covered. And did I mention the hundreds of art prints?? Oh yeah, count on another hour sifting through those!

I had always thought the name "2nd & Charles" referred to some downtown street corner of a big city…read morelike Boston. As it turned out, the name actually comes from "second-hand" (as in buybacks and trade-ins), and the first name of its founder, Charles Anderson. The chain has 40 locations across 18 states and is owned by its parent company, Book-A-Million, which was founded by Charles father, Clyde. It's bitter sweet that it moved from the now-dismantled Harrisburg East Mall to its current location. The business survived, but I like the old setting better, where it was part of a shopping mall and you could just stroll into the store during a general window-shopping trip. The new location is standalone, right across from the county courthouse (are the prisons still there?), where Toys "R" Us used to be. It has to be a dedicated trip. The new store is much larger, however. It has all kinds of books, including rare titles and collectibles. There are also gifts, CDs, musical instruments, and even LEGO bricks sold by weight. Heck, they even buy back old LEGO sets! Jumping on the "blind box" bandwagon, they now sell "Mystery Boxes" as well. It's a fantastic spot to treasure-hunt and/or sell items from your weekend clean-outs. It's great to see a unique business like this continue to thrive.

Besides Bass Pro Shops, congratulations to 2nd & Charles for being the only retail store to survive…read morethe Harrisburg Mall. A huge store located in the former Toys R Us, with a tremendous selection of kids' books, records, and toys across all categories. There's even a free Mother's Day card creation event this Saturday for children. Plenty of staff around to answer questions. I need to bring in my husband's barely used hardcover books for reselling. Living in this digital age, it's great to see 2nd & Charles thriving. If you want new or get a great value with slightly used books, try the 2nd & Charles bookstore for a curated book experience.
