I'm really glad I did though, this park is incredible. So many things for kids of all ages! Lots of fun structures for tag, lots of slides, lots of interesting toys you don't see many places. We saw bat boxes and while we didn't wander the entire area, didn't spot bee hives or farm animals which I think would be awesome additions, particularly closer to the play environment so kids can learn even more about nature and animals. A small, cement pathway surrounds the park, allowing children with walking toys the opportunity to walk around it. It's small, so children are easily seen from any corner of the fenced in area. The play structure is fun, and gives opportunity for adventure, but slightly older toddlers can hurt themselves when trying to explore, as their heads can hit the slide top and cause tumbles down the stairs (not a wide enough space between the slide and the end of the topmost stair).

There are also a handful of playground toys, rides, slides and other attractions, complete with foam padding, safety nets and flashing lights, guaranteed to attract their attention! Admission is $28 per child (with one "free" adult allowed to accompany them) with no time restrictions. Posters in the restrooms also advertise special "after-hours" events, such as a Nerf War night for 8+ year olds, which sounds like a blast, even for an old kid-at-heart like me! About the only thing to complain about would be the rather terse and aloof staff running the front desk and managing the expected intake forms and disclaimers - they could be a little more lively and upbeat, if you ask me. That said, they do a good job keeping up the place, performing routine rounds to put toys away, vaccum, wipe things down, and generally get everything squared away in an orderly fashion.

We saw and admired three particular locations within the Park -- the forested park area, with main entrance at the corner of Wallace Street & Fourth Avenue - wonderful trees & other flora, birds, and squirrels, walking trails, and sitting benches & tables -- BC Spirit Square - a centrally-located, small plaza off Wallace Street, behind District Hall - with sitting benches, and dedication memorial 'In Memory of Our War Dead' -- and Friendship Garden - located off one side of District Hall, near Third Avenue - a small and pretty rock & pool garden, and to partially quote from signage: "built by local Japanese Canadians, commemorating the Japanese Canadians interned during World War II, and to demonstrate Japanese culture to the general public". Other areas of the Park include: a large children's playground, ball field, concert area, and smaller open field areas used for arts & crafts fairs, flea markets, and other such events. Memorial Park is a rather large, beautiful, and very well-maintained piece of green space, centrally-located within the downtown core of Hope. It's a wonderful spot for the locals to use, and offers much for the tourists to admire when visiting.
