Ah, Go Away. Behind the least inviting restaurant name in Copenhagen lies a take away shop that was my absolute go-to place when I first moved to Copenhagen and lived right around the corner from their Amager location (that's right, I started my Copenhagen journey on Amager, like an immigrant setting foot on Ellis Island). I was very sad to leave it behind when I moved, but was super-excited when I found this place, close to where I worked.
Genre-wise, the place is... diverse? They offer a bit of everywhere, with sushi and sashimi sharing space with mango lassis, curries and African stews, and occassional creol chicken casserole. Don't talk to me about diversity!
Honestly, I've never tried their sushi. When I go here, I go for the comfort food, the so-called hot pots, which are three to four dishes made fresh each day, always one with beef, one with chicken, and one veggie, and often in the form of curries and African stews. Served with your choice of brown or white rice, this is less a dish and more a time machine that transport you to a time and a place where the world was simpler and everything made sense. I can't count the times when I've returned from a day that was just plain bad, in the rain or snow, and headed in here for a steaming bowl of this stuff, this magical everything-is-going-to-be-alright elixir.
For starters they offer a pretty good miso soup, spring rolls, seaweed salad, edamame beans, and more. And there's dessert, too!
What's that? You don't live near either of their locations? That's OK, they deliver! And for only 29 or 39 kroner (depending on where you are in the city), minimum purchase 150 kroner. The world is a wondrous place indeed! read more
