I was immediately impressed by how quickly Brent worked to get us an estimate and kept up with us as the materials were ordered and the work scheduled. The materials and the crew arrived when promised and installation started exactly when scheduled. With old houses there was more work needed than originally anticipated, but the installation crew tackled the job and really went the extra mile to make sure the installation was done properly. Even though the install took longer than anticipated, the final price tracked the estimate exactly. We couldn't be happier with the work. three months after the install, it's as solid as we could have hoped for. We will definitely use Home Renew in the future.

During the initial visit to make his sales pitch, Brent Webb brought one style of siding and several color choices. Brent chose a color and style then insisted I go with what he selected for me. I did not like what he selected, so we actually argued over the color and style. The only way I got him to agree was by telling him, "These are the colors and the style I want; if you can't handle that, take your stuff and leave." He relented. I should have tossed him out of my house right then. My main reason for getting siding was that the original siding had been recalled because it just rots and falls off the wall. So I wanted that removed. Clearly, it says on the invoice, "Remove Existing Siding". On the first date it was to be installed, I was told they had gone to the wrong house when they measured everything, and after measuring my house, they needed more material. So that delayed everything by about a month. The night before installation, I called Brent to make sure they were going to have a dumpster dropped off for all the debris. He said, "They will just use their trailer." Installation day arrives, the crew shows up and starts work. After a little bit, I go out to check on them and find that they are not removing the old siding, and the crewmen say they were not told to do so. Also, they were putting the colors in the wrong place. Turns out they had no invoice and no instructions on where to install the different colors/styles. The crewman called Brent. I spoke to him, telling him I wanted the old siding removed and the color scheme to be as I wanted it to be. Regarding removing the old siding, Brent said, "We are not doing that!" and that "to fix our error with the colors, you will have to pay more." And they did charge me $900 to fix the error their own guys made. After installation, I found that more than half of the siding does not have the foam insulating backing that was supposed to be installed. Also, some of the siding is curling up, but I can't call them because they will either ignore me or just do a lousy job and charge me more money to fix it when it should be covered under warranty. Brent Webb is a lying piece of garbage and should never be trusted at all. Hone Renew completely ripped me off for about $9000.

The biggest project involved installing new boards on my second-story deck, creating a header and gate to the roof, a gate to the stairs, rebuilding a stairway and landing, and lattice and staining for a finished look. Since the initial install, Small Town has done some repairs and went in to reinforce the deck with more robust 6 X 6, concrete footers, other repairs, and darker stain. Other projects have included scraping and painting in a bathroom, repairing double-hung windows, and installing French doors. They have removed floor tiles, and removed old worn-out furniture from the house as well. All along, Small Town has been fantastic to work with, communicative, and reasonably priced. I highly recommend this handyman company.

Five stars is not really enough to get across how happy we are with his work. Earlier this summer, we found ourselves in a position no one wants to be in: dealing with an unexpected family loss. Compounding this situation was the fact that it occurred in a city that was not our own. Moving forward from this experience was going to be hard enough, but it also came with some pretty substantial home repair/renovation projects that needed to be done ASAP. Doing so in a town that is not our residence, and with contractors with whom we were not familiar, made it even more challenging. Through Yelp, we took a chance on finding a contractor to do a test run with a small but time-sensitive project, and Joshua came through with a really great bid and personal touch. His communication was exceptional, and his personality stood out in both in our online communication and again when we met in person. Most importantly, the care and commitment he brought to even this small project, plus the humanity and empathy he showed us during a really difficult time, made all the difference. We relayed to him the scope of the home repairs needed going forward, and asked if they were within his comfort zone. When he responded positively, we told him he was our go-to guy for every project needed on that house, and that we trusted him implicitly to do the work independently. He didn't let us down. He sent photos of his progress and gave us honest appraisals of what could be done, and what prices would be for labor and materials. He worked on a tight timeline and got the work done on time and on budget. Moreover, the quality of the work that he did approaches the level of artisan, not just contractor, to the point where I'd employ him for our own home projects if it was at all possible (it's not, sadly). I don't know what else I can say to relay our impressions of Joshua. He's the best contractor I've ever worked with, and I wish him nothing but success in the future. If you get a chance to work with him on a home project, consider yourself fortunate.
