I have been a patient of Dr. Sheng's for over 20 years. During this period I have consulted with…read moreher on several chronic medical conditions that I was being treated for by highly qualified western medical practitioners from Penn Medicine and Main Line Health. I have a few practical observations for anyone who is considering acupuncture and herbal medicines for the first time. First off, Dr. Sheng is extremely experienced and thoroughly trained. Her credentials are available with a Google search and on her website. Her office is plain and unassuming but spotless and efficient. Dr. Sheng is very knowledgeable in the scope of western medical procedures and is not dismissive of these, but concentrates on her special ability and training to bring to bear the results of a millennia of knowledge and technique of Chinese medical solutions which enlist the body's own ability to help resolve imbalances. For instance, one of my conditions is lower lumbar joint compression and spinal curvature. I have consulted orthopedic physicians who offered various combinations of physical therapy, spinal cortisone injections, spinal manipulation and drug pain relief. I have done them all and some helped for a while. Dr. Sheng, with a few painless sessions of acupuncture has helped resolve flareups of immobilizing back pain. This is done by encouraging the body to fight the inflammation and nerve activity. It always works. My condition in chronic and no solution is permanent. But a few painless acupuncture sessions always help in a major way. The actual procedure is simple. The points needed to be worked with are sterilized then super thin needles are quickly placed manually a few milimeters into the skin by Dr. Sheng. Sometimes she uses a small amount of electric stimulation to achieve the desired result. In every case the act of acupuncture is quick and painless. Sessions usually take about an hour spent comfortably. Western medicine is used extensively in China. The fact that vaccines are necessary, appendices have to be removed, etc. has not eliminated the usefulness of (updated) traditional medical practices nor restricted their acceptance and growth in the east and the west. I am not a physician, merely a patient. But I have gotten excellent results on most issues I have consulted her on over the years. While insurance reimbursement is very often unavailable, her fees are reasonable and I highly recommend her and her practice. I believe acupuncture and herbal medicine procedures should be considered without concern as important tools in our personal effort to alleviate medical conditions.

I went to Dr. Sheng several years back while trying to achieve a healthy pregnancy after a hx of…read moreseveral miscarriages. At one point, just before starting an IVF cycle, Dr. Sheng took my pulse at the beginning of my appointment and informed me that I was already pregnant. I was shocked, as if I really was, I would only have been 1-2 weeks at best, and no test would have even picked up on that yet. I asked her how she knew... she said it was because I had a "slippery pulse". Interesting. She also followed up by telling me not to get too excited, because she could already tell it would not stick. Guess what? SHE WAS RIGHT about everything! My sessions with her were always amazing and left me feeling very euphoric. Compared to other acupuncturists I've been to (both in King of Prussia and in West Chester), my visits with her were 60 minutes instead of 30, and were less expensive too. While other acupuncturists would not allow me to fall asleep with needles in, Dr. Sheng did. Once, when I presented with a bad headache, she used some eucalyptus strips on the back of my neck, and my headache almost instantly melted away. Although I never was able to achieve a healthy pregnancy again (I have one really awesome son and then developed Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism, which I'm pretty sure was the cause for the m/c's) I think that Dr. Sheng is the "real deal" and the best acupuncture practitioner I have ever encountered around here. I own an elective 2D/3D/4D pregnancy ultrasound practice and highly recommend her to any of my clients experiencing issues, wether it be to achieve pregnancy, for pain management, or stress relief.
