This one is really well done. Really good solid story with great tech built-in. The people running it did a dang good job in helping us enjoy ourselves. There were some difficult parts, some parts that were just plain fun, and everything in between. We really enjoyed the camaraderie and mandatory team-building skills that this provided for us. Walking out with duffel bags full of cash was also pretty satisfying. read more

We attempted to schedule an escape room session online, and the website was not working. When we clicked to reserve times no times showed up, no matter what day or month it was. We called and even then could not get a reservation. The person we spoke with claimed to be the owner, and was condescending and unprofessional in his communication. We have called the Gnarly Escapes previously, and the the other employees were professional, clear, and kind in communication. It is not okay for the owner of a business to communicate unprofessionally, while expecting his employees to do so. Please fix your website, give your employees a raise, and improve your communication for your next customer. Thank you! read more

We're experienced in escape rooms. We've done them in many states. This was our Least favorite escape room. There were 7 in our group who did Kidnapped. For the first half You're each locked in your own dark , small box and have to get out before finishing the room together. The clues were split between the 7 wooden boxes we were in, and We couldn't communicate well because the rain sound over the speaker was too loud. Only The person next to me could hear me if I yelled. You can't work together if you can't hear well. Some of us were In totally dark boxes and couldn't see to work a lock. Others had a tiny bit of light. (Stuck for over 45 min.) it took forever for the first person to get out and by the time it was done there were 3 of us still stuck in our boxes. The worker never checked on us to see if we needed a hint and there wasn't a way to get ahold of her. We tried to help each other. Some of the people just figured out their lock boxes without the clues. About 7 min before time was up, the last 3 of us just pushed open our doors. You have to have a very small person in your group to go down a tiny trap door and crawl on stomach to the next section. We didn't even get to the fun part. It was poorly managed. After, when we talked to the worker, she told us she's only seen two groups of 6 or more ever finish. She said small groups do better because the clues aren't split between so many people. I wish she would have told us that when we booked for 7. We would have split into two separate rooms. That should also be their hint that something needs to change. 3 of us paid $25 to stand or lay in tiny, hot , dark boxes for 45 min. We really needed a hint.We didn't get to play. It was bad! Don't play if you're claustrophobic. The worker was nice but inattentive. If we could have made it to the next section, it might have been fun. Never going back. read more

We had so much fun. We are going back next week to play again. Great family fun and lots of laughs.

A puzzle was broken because one of the clocks was off. I think it's battery had died. We could not proceed to solve any of the other clues because of the broken puzzle. They did not give us any extra time or any kind of refund even though it was their fault that we could not do much of the escape room read more

Gnarly Escapes is definitely a 5 star, fantabulously, fantastically, superbly awesome activity. We did the bank heist room with 2 adults and 4 kids aged 9-12. It was very realistic and it gave you a thrill as if you were really stealing money from a real bank. (Submitted by the 10 year old birthday girl). read more

My group of four played the Kidnapped by a Creepy Guy game room and had several issues. First, my box (and later on one that wasn't supposed to open during our game at all) opened on its own. No force was applied. The boxes were also very small. Great for that feeling of claustrophobia but our group was tall and had difficulty fitting inside. Second, we could not hear the intro sequence and missed vital information. We were provided only one light and no pencils or paper to decipher codes. The biggest issue was really the crawl space. It was too small for me (5'10, 275 lb) to enter at all and my sister (5'6) had to army crawl through. We couldn't hear her at all - if she had panicked we would never have known and there was no visible way to get her out in an emergency. The employee helping us was great, very helpful both before and after, but we had no way to contact her for the vast majority of the time and when we could we struggled to get the communication device to work. Overall I don't recommend it and I definitely won't go back. read more

My family and I are escape room junkies and have traveled many states. I must say that Gnarly Escapes provides absolutely the best overall experience! The Bank Heist is very well designed and provided multiple ways for the entire group to participate simultaneously in different tasks while working together to achieve the same goal as a team. We particularly enjoyed the twist of wanting to stay in as long as possible to loot as much as we could. The additional 'bonus' tasks provided even more unexpected twists to the scenario and the theme was well thought-out. This is among the best there is and I highly recommend them for any family or work team building event! read more

Definitely one of the better escape rooms in the area! We did the buried alive one and had a lot of fun. The problem with other escape rooms in this area is that its just a matter of opening 20 different locks and then calling it an "escape room". But at gnarly escapes, I really felt immersed into the experience and the puzzles and props were a lot of fun! The host was great as well. Will definitely want to come back in the future! read more

I absolutely loved this escape room! I have done 2 other escape rooms in Idaho Falls and there was so many puzzles and events that were intricate and well designed. I felt into the story. There was so much to do that the 4 of us could not finish it all. But I wasn't at all mad at that. It felt like a challenge. It makes me want to go back and try to finish. There were many moments where I audibly said, "That's so cool." I would highly recommend this location for a fun escape-game like experience. read more

The concept and story of the banks heist room are fun! But I'm leaving only two stars because one of their codes did not match up with the clue. The clue gave us a code that we were 100% certain of. And we repeated the code out loud and tried to use the code for a significant amount of time. We are not a group who likes to use hints, but we're forced to when our time was dwindling. We managed to escape the room, sort of, but when we asked about the clue and the code she realized her code was wrong. She said that other teams that day didn't bother to try to decipher the code and just asked for a hint so she didn't realize the clue and code did not match up. She didn't apologize for the wrong code. The error and her attitude were disappointing and ruined our experience with gnarly escape and we will not be returning. read more

The game room was set up nicely but service was lacking. We were asking for clues and were clearly ignored so we sat there at a stand still until the time was up. This is the third escape room I've been to and after spending this kind of money, you should not feel that way when leaving. read more

Came with my family in a group of five (can have groups up to eight) for a evening appointment. They have one room right now that has a bank heist theme. I obviously can't explain too much without giving away any clues but the rooms are the most accurate and immersive I have experienced. Basic idea is to break into the vault, steal physical money, and transfer money electronically to an offshore account. Goal is to steal as much money as possible. Clues are available but come to you differently then other escape rooms (through a phone call to the office desk phone). My only gripe was the voice modulator they use when giving clues makes it really tough to understand, especially when there is so much commotion in the room while the others are trying to solve room puzzles. Overall, experience was outstanding. They are working on a second escape room with a buried alive theme and once it is set up and available I plan on coming back to experience it. read more
