A puzzle was broken because one of the clocks was off. I think it's battery had died. We could not proceed to solve any of the other clues because of the broken puzzle. Gnarly Escapes is definitely a 5 star, fantabulously, fantastically, superbly awesome activity. We did the bank heist room with 2 adults and 4 kids aged 9-12. My group of four played the Kidnapped by a Creepy Guy game room and had several issues. First, my box (and later on one that wasn't supposed to open during our game at all) opened on its own. No force was applied. The boxes were also very small. Great for that feeling of claustrophobia but our group was tall and had difficulty fitting inside. Second, we could not hear the intro sequence and missed vital information. We were provided only one light and no pencils or paper to decipher codes. The biggest issue was really the crawl space. It was too small for me (5'10, 275 lb) to enter at all and my sister (5'6) had to army crawl through. We couldn't hear her at all - if she had panicked we would never have known and there was no visible way to get her out in an emergency. The employee helping us was great, very helpful both before and after, but we had no way to contact her for the vast majority of the time and when we could we struggled to get the communication device to work. Overall I don't recommend it and I definitely won't go back. read more

My family and I are escape room junkies and have traveled many states. I must say that Gnarly Escapes provides absolutely the best overall experience! The Bank Heist is very well designed and provided multiple ways for the entire group to participate simultaneously in different tasks while working together to achieve the same goal as a team. We particularly enjoyed the twist of wanting to stay in as long as possible to loot as much as we could. The additional 'bonus' tasks provided even more unexpected twists to the scenario and the theme was well thought-out. This is among the best there is and I highly recommend them for any family or work team building event! read more

Definitely one of the better escape rooms in the area! We did the buried alive one and had a lot of fun. The problem with other escape rooms in this area is that its just a matter of opening 20 different locks and then calling it an "escape room". But at gnarly escapes, I really felt immersed into the experience and the puzzles and props were a lot of fun! The host was great as well. Will definitely want to come back in the future! read more

I absolutely loved this escape room! I have done 2 other escape rooms in Idaho Falls and there was so many puzzles and events that were intricate and well designed. I felt into the story. There was so much to do that the 4 of us could not finish it all. But I wasn't at all mad at that. It felt like a challenge. It makes me want to go back and try to finish. There were many moments where I audibly said, "That's so cool." I would highly recommend this location for a fun escape-game like experience. read more

The concept and story of the banks heist room are fun! But I'm leaving only two stars because one of their codes did not match up with the clue. The clue gave us a code that we were 100% certain of. And we repeated the code out loud and tried to use the code for a significant amount of time. We are not a group who likes to use hints, but we're forced to when our time was dwindling. We managed to escape the room, sort of, but when we asked about the clue and the code she realized her code was wrong. She said that other teams that day didn't bother to try to decipher the code and just asked for a hint so she didn't realize the clue and code did not match up. She didn't apologize for the wrong code. The error and her attitude were disappointing and ruined our experience with gnarly escape and we will not be returning. read more

The game room was set up nicely but service was lacking. We were asking for clues and were clearly ignored so we sat there at a stand still until the time was up. This is the third escape room I've been to and after spending this kind of money, you should not feel that way when leaving. read more

This one is really well done. Really good solid story with great tech built-in. The people running it did a dang good job in helping us enjoy ourselves. There were some difficult parts, some parts that were just plain fun, and everything in between. We really enjoyed the camaraderie and mandatory team-building skills that this provided for us. Walking out with duffel bags full of cash was also pretty satisfying. read more

Came with my family in a group of five (can have groups up to eight) for a evening appointment. They have one room right now that has a bank heist theme. I obviously can't explain too much without giving away any clues but the rooms are the most accurate and immersive I have experienced. Basic idea is to break into the vault, steal physical money, and transfer money electronically to an offshore account. Goal is to steal as much money as possible. Clues are available but come to you differently then other escape rooms (through a phone call to the office desk phone). My only gripe was the voice modulator they use when giving clues makes it really tough to understand, especially when there is so much commotion in the room while the others are trying to solve room puzzles. Overall, experience was outstanding. They are working on a second escape room with a buried alive theme and once it is set up and available I plan on coming back to experience it. read more
