I asked to change the instruments for new, sterile ones, which were changed but unpacked as well, so I am not sure if they sterilize them. The pedicure was ok, but the manicure was terrible. Also, I was not asked what shape I would like and was trimmed as square, when I told the lady that I prefer a round shape, it was changed and was way too short. I also was asked to wash my nails in the bathroom in the middle of the manicure, which was weird. Also, I was asked to change the table a few times in the middle of the manicure. I have never had such a terrible experience and don't recommend anyone to go there.

I am currently 38 weeks pregnant, and I've been super nervous and cautious about going to salons. I went for the second time right before Christmas, I had powder gel done. I was one of the first clients to be seen. I felt super safe and comfortable. I went in last week (01/14/2021) to take off the powder gel, which btw lasted very long and looked beautiful, but because I can give birth at any moment, I didn't want to deal with taking them off after the baby arrives. I had a mani/pedi done. Both were done in the room in the back, where pedicures are done. I was the only one there. They made sure I was comfortable. I really appreciate them doing both my mani pedi in that room because of my back, neck, and just being pregnant during a pandemic. They are literally the sweetest ever! And I love how long my nails last. She took her time with my cuticles and massage. I am honestly so grateful because anyone who's been pregnant before, knows how nice it feels to get a great foot massage. I've never felt so relaxed and at ease throughout this pregnancy, in a pandemic. The sparkly nails with mint green toe nails is a picture of my mani pedi todAy, meaning a WEEK after getting them done! I do laundry, wash plates, and clean the house the most I can. I've also never been approached by staff offering help, or have even seen anyone around the store. I have to go to the register for assistance - which brings me to another point... I bought a bottle of shampoo & conditioner specifically to remove chlorine from hair. The girl working in the salon section (before I finished telling her what I needed) said any clarifying shampoo would be fine and started to walk away. I stated I was looking for something chlorine removal specific. She didn't know of any product for that purpose so I googled while standing there, and she at least helped me locate the bottle. She told me I would need the Paul Mitchell super strength conditioner - so I bought it. This conditioner contains a lot of protein, which is needed for damaged hair. My hair has never been dyed, permed, etc and I don't use heat on it. It's not damaged in any way. I was not understanding why my hair was splitting at the ends like crazy and feeling brittle and gross when it had never been like that before. When I got a trim with my hairdresser, she said the amount of protein in the conditioner was causing the problem, and as soon as I switched to one without protein, my hair returned to its usual texture. I tried to return the conditioner past 60 days from purchase. I wasn't aware of the return policy - my own fault, but since I see my hairdresser every 8 weeks I couldn't have known any earlier that the conditioner was the issue. The girl working the register couldn't process the return, which I understand, but did nothing to remedy the situation. She didn't even call over a manager to explain why I was returning it. (I explained the story above). I wouldn't have bought this conditioner if the girl from the salon hadn't said I would need it when using a chlorine removal shampoo. So, do your research on what you're intending to buy before shopping at Ulta because it's going to be an issue to find help first of all, and I don't think the staff is educated well enough (or at all) on what's in store.
