This hidden gem is tucked away, off Pleasant Valley Rd in Amesbury, behind the mill building luxury condos. It's such a fun community here, where everybody is friends and everybody helps each other out. They run a very tight ship here, and everything is always clean and maintained. There's always a dockhand working, to help you out with whatever you need, which I love because I'm not the best at docking! They also have super clean restrooms and showers available. Paula is usually at the desk, and has always been helpful (and fun to chat with). If you are looking for a beautiful, clean spot to keep your boat, with friendly and helpful staff, Hatters Point is the place for you!

The Merrimack River's wide expanse and well-marked channels are easily navigated and offer many opportunities for power boating, sailing, water skiing and tubing. We are located in one of the many scenic vistas of the river, across from the lush grounds of Maudslay State Park.  It's easily accessible by a driveway at the eastern end of the Hatter's Point development, with boarding via a wide gangway. Parking, restrooms, and showers are available, and the site is handicap accessible. We're open from May 15th to October 15th and welcome recreational boats up to 135 feet in length. There is nothing like being an experienced boater, it takes time to figure out the system but when you do there is nothing like it. The first thing I would like to bring up is "change," no one likes to have their free meal ticket taken away so they write sour yelp reviews. The ramp is now private and people love to complain about not letting everyone and their brother congest the ramp during the busy summer season. I find it to be an upgrade. Now the people who pay there dues to be part of a good marina can get in and out of the water faster, which means more time at the beach. It sucks having to be the guy who tells all the idiots to please park your car straight because your not the only one who wants to go to the beach today, so give the parking lot guy a break. We all know there is plenty of people who either don't care or feel like they own the joint and park sideways across 2 spots. The parking lot is small, park in one spot, easy, done. I've enjoyed some great boating days taking off at Essex Marine, I put my boat in the water, park my car and I'm off to the beach, or I drop a line in and catch a 40 inch large mouth bass out near the back side of Cranes beach. It takes a little bit of know how to do it right and safely. If your new to boating, ask a friend to go with you and show you the ropes. There are rules and unwritten rules out there that only come with experience and knowledge of the area and it starts at the marina where you drop your boat in. People get frustrated and complain about everything but they don't take the time to learn how to use the system. Be a smart boater, do a bit of research and go have fun! I highly recommend this marina and boating in the area, I just moved out of state and I'll miss my old stopping grounds. @ Holly P. - LIke you said "Typically on a busy weekend he's moving logs around to reconfigure parking" well isn't it kind of nice that he takes the time to accommodate more people for the busy weekend. I guess no favor goes unpunished. Your one of those people that are just unhappy with everything. Yeah, keep your kids near you when everyone at the marina is trying to get their boat in the water and they'll be just fine.

The service makes boating hassle-free joy, and keeps my hull and motor out of the water when they are not being used in the summer and safe/dry in the winter. And the Essex River is a great point of departure for Crane and Wingaersheek Beaches, Plum Island and all the attractive shores of Ipswich Bay. This off-season the shop installed a new outboard and helped me sell the old one. While I have read the earlier reviews and sympathize with the challenge of change, I have had nothing but clear and helpful interactions with owner Curt and his capable mechanics, Dave and Austin.

Over the summer I was lucky enough to stay at Goodwins Creek Marina on the Merrimack. The views are…read morephenomenal, and the in-ground pool is an added bonus. The marina offers cable and satellite TV, electricity and internet. (Wi-Fi signal pretty good). The residents of the marina are so friendly and often share what they catch. The laundry, showers, and bathrooms are so clean. There's a seasonal restaurant (breakfast and lunch), there's a dingy dock with jet skis, picnic tables, and gas grills for cooking out. The closest grocery store is "Stop and Shop" about 2 miles from the marina which has an electric charging station. The weekend is more crowded during the week, and everyone knows everyone. The marina is pet friendly and offers doggy waste bags however not a lot of grass for the dog. There were lots of parks near the marina for the dog. The fire pit is great and is often fired up on the weekends. Goodwin Creek Marina is a great home away from home.

This is a gorgeous marina in a great location, just a short walk from the main strip. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, and don't even get me started on the amazing dock dogs they have. If I could write this review just about Sophie and Rudder, it would be five stars on its own! The area is beautiful and Chick's has a bunch of wonderful decorative touches that make it really special. It is super clean (even the bathrooms) and absolutely worth the stay.

Also a B&H gas station, quickie mart, and a place where you can get fishing licenses, register your boat, or recreational vehicle. They sell live bait; beer, and ice cream! I like the steamed hot dogs! A very local place where the Arlington Lake community comes together.
