Overall, just okay. Being from the states, maybe I'm a little extra choosy with my BBQ…read more I ordered the half rack of ribs with 2 XXL wings - wings were over cooked, so one part of the XXL wing was inedible. Barely any sauce. The ribs were decent - definitely not fall off the bone type, but okay tasting. I asked for sweet potato fries, even with an upgrade charge, but alas, the service wasn't the best. So I got the regular fries - which were probably my favorite part of the meal. They were the thinner kind so not the typical "chips" - which I like! The BBQ sauces - 5 choices - I didn't care for any of them. The tangy coleslaw also wasn't a hit with me. $20 or so for the ribs/wings meal & a large Pepsi max.

Luckily I had booked on a Friday night. As we were walked to our table we were informed that there was no jerky or draft beers (same 5 years ago!) Anyway I chose the luxurious salted caramel and choc shake with rum (£8) which was divine and pawed the menu. They had drastically changed this. There are now more veggie and fish choices. Apart from the starters I didn't find the mains that inspiring. Anyway we decided to share some bbq wings for starters and himself had the brisket burn ends for main while I had the pitmaster for £18. The wings arrived in a tasty sauce and were fairly large. When the mains arrived my heart sank. I had to double check mine..it had the ribs..cheese sausage..meaty beans..and another pot of beans but no pulled pork or crackling ..my boyfriend's was dry brisket on soggy bread with greens..the burnt ends were nice. Anyway he left most of his and to be fair they were really understanding and the manager sat down with us to discuss the food. In the end my boyfriends meal was taken off the bill ans mine halved in price.. the way it was handled didn't leave a bad taste in my mouth and would try it again in the far future.

Living in Portland I thought let's see how the guys in Manchester do a proper sandwich…read more So looking around on Yelp I noticed this place and I have walked by from the hotel a couple of times without noticing there are some restaurants. The old railway building. Thanks yelp for making me aware. They have a lunch special with a selection of burgers and a chicken sandwich for £10 (at the time of this review 07/2023). That includes a side of fries. I noticed every restaurant that you walk In the host will ask you about any allergies or intolerances. If you let them know you're they will let you know what to avoid. Or if they do not know they will send you a manager who knows. There must have been a huge problem with allergies and it is a great way to avoid it. It is, in the beginning, a bit annoying until you realize it is actually a good thing (I wonder if Mcdonald's to the same - I'll might have to try that). So I ordered the chicken burger with a breaded fried chicken breast some black pepper mayo sauce some salad, Onions, and a slap of avocado. WOW - the nicely tasting breaded chicken was fried to perfection and it was a really big piece without drying out. Good job! the "burner" was definitely the combination of chicken and that avocado spread mixed in With the black Peppercorn mayonnaise - an almost perfect bite. The bun was not too big to get in the way of tasting what's important all other ingredients have been fresh and am tasty the fries also fried to a crisp state without being burned. Hands down a surprisingly great burger. Oh, I will be back - the service was five starts as well quick, knowledgeable, and friendly!

(Although their entire rail for both window seating sat empty through the duration of my visit) I ordered the mushroom and truffle oil poutine, their classic burger with bacon and a pint. Poutine was decent, though some of the bites of cheese curds (not traditional squeaky curds) we're still cold through the center .. gravy mushrooms and truffle made the dish decent The burger was quality just overwhelmingly messy and fell apart prior to a few bites in. Also the menu stated briosche buns, and it was served on a sesame bun The fries were quality though be double or triple fried.. I enjoyed them. Would go back as it was recommended to me to give them another round and for more of their food offerings.

I had heard good things about the Brewski in Chorlton. Brewski sell North American comfort food inc. poutine, Mac n Cheese, Raclette and Deli sandwiches. The place has been featured in things like Lad Bible, and Food Bible. I went for the poutine and it tasted really good! Everyone else in the group had the poutine too and everyone enjoyed it. I want to go back again soon and try their Afternoon Tea - Brewski style. 3 tiers of steak, fried chicken, pulled pork sliders, Mac n Cheese, deep fried Brie, frickles and poutine and more. Plus a G&T pot or pitcher of beer between 2. (All for £25p/p)

Just as me and my other Whitworth-Park dwelling friends would stop off at Adbuls or Gemini after a night out, he would never fail to stop at Saajan. Fast-forward 5 years. Single male student is still a student, but now, like many mature students has emigrated south to Didsbury. He still has a penchant for fast food, but not many residents of Didsbury share his fondness, therefore he was most upset when he found out that there are no late night kebab houses in Didsbury. So the resolution to this problem is that after a night out in town, he simply gets off the bus in Fallowfield, purchases his Saajan kebab and gets back onto the bus to Didsbury feeling content. It's very rare for such an establishment to survive for so long without even the slightest hint of a rumour about cockroaches, rats or gross staff (a la Abduls and Gemini) to tarnish its reputation, so Saajan must be good. My friend is also generally very lazy, meaning that Saajan must be damn good.

The fact you could stuff yourself with deliciously saucy and spicy meat and salad on a bit flat bread for £3 was just brilliant. And I genuinely always liked the taste of all three meats: chicken, lamb and shish. I managed to have a perfectly time opportunity and excuse to go last week after probably about 4 years. I went for lamb. Problem is, and I knew this before, a kebab doesn't travel too well. Before I was only living 5 minutes away but now it had to cope with a 20 mins drive so the bread was saggy and the meat a bit cold. Nothing to do with the Sajaan guys however. My main criticism would be about the quality of the meat. I think it went downhill as my lamb was chewy and full of nerves. I still like the flavours but despite the fact the price has gone up (£3.80 now which is not that exorbitant for a full meal) the meat is not as good as it used to be. Would happily go back for the chicken or shish, hopefully in the near future though.
