I think I lost my over 10 years old glasses so this prompted the need to get new ones. My sisters have come here but I hadn't had the chance until I moved here. It's such a fun and welcoming place. You can spend hours browsing and trying on frames. They have so many options of brands from all over the world, thus the namesake. Nancy was helping me pull a few pairs and then Bob really just went above and beyond with the custom rim color on the lenses to match my frame. He had them set it in the middle more to help hide the thickness as I have a very high prescription. He took the extra time to adjust the nose pads so that my lashes would also not hit the lenses but also be comfortable over the nonexistent bridge of my nose. I can't imagine getting this type of service anywhere else. It took a little longer to get but worth the wait. The prices are going to be high, but that is going to be the case with a unique product and level of service. I wore my glasses during the day just because I loved them so much. I never do that unless I have itchy eyes with allergies or up late at night do I wear my glasses, so that's saying a lot about how I feel about these stunners. They are a little fun and whimsical but yet classic and feels like it just fits my personality. Now this pair of glasses I would be so sad if I lost! Bob and Nancy are master of there craft and bring a level of expertise I've never experienced until I visited The Globe. From my cool green glasses to some amazing prescription sunglasses I always get asked "where did you get those?" I proudly say The Globe. 9 Times out of ten they say... Nestled in the heart of downtown Holland, you have this great little place for a great variety of eye wear! My sister was looking for glasses for future purchase, and she found a pair of frames that were decently priced and was quoted a cheap price for lenses. I would love to make a future purchase there when I need my next pair of glasses. It is NOT your typical LensCrafters or Pearle Vision. They have quality frames that are affordable, stylish, and not your typical designer frames. Names that you don't hear of, but were sectioned off to tell you the trend of European wear, to how a certain brand helped with face shape. The variety is endless and they have very different frames than your typical. So if you want to stand out of the crowd, this is a great place to check out. I must mention that they do NOT have an eye examination type thing. You just give them your glasses prescription and they do the rest. I'll have to remember for future references to come here. I have not been pleased with with selection at Macy's, Lenscrafters, Pearle Vision, or Target. Having had glasses for most of my life, style, price, and service is really important and they may be my last hope. If you're in the area, great place to check out for some spectacles! read more

I've loved Globe for ten years and three pairs of (stylish!) glasses. I bought my first years ago while living in Holland and now, even though I'm in Chicago, I still return to shop for my next great pair. The store's selection is amazing by any standards, but I can honestly say it beats anything in Chicago. This is a candy store for your eyes. You'll find frames from Paris, the U.S., Canada, Denmark and everywhere in between, of all shapes, sizes, and colors. The manager/store owner encourages people to think of their glasses as great accessories, and he welcomes people to come browse and have fun in the store. Though it might be years between my visits, the manager/store owner always remembers me, and is helpful, chatty, and fun. He's great to work with, even over a distance. And if you're on a budget, don't despair: start with the always-excellent sales section. read more

I went into the Globe a while back to redeem a gift card I had gotten for my birthday. They sell glasses and sunglasses, but not the typical styles you would see at your normal eyeglass store. The place is very nicely designed, roomy, and hip. The manager/store owner (I think) was extremely friendly, chatty, and helpful. I ended up getting a pair of Puma sunglasses. The price was actually like 5 or 10 bucks more than my gift card, so the store owner just said to call it even! I do a lot of online shopping and their prices are a bit higher than online prices from what I compared. But, really this is to be expected from a brick and mortar store like this. Nothing beats being able to try on and see the actual glasses/sunglasses you are going to buy. So, you have to pay a bit more for that convenience. Anyway, Globe is a great store and I would definitely recommend it. read more

I just purchased my 4th frame from Bob. I was just looking around while he was changing out the lenses in my husband's frame. Bob knows everything there is to know about frames and has not only the coolest selections but the atmosphere at the store is so inviting and always wonderful music too. This was my first time shopping at Globe, and it was a great experience. There are so many original frames and designs! They aren't the typical ones you would see at a chain store. He brought me a tray to set all of my favorites in and after I picked the ones I wanted, gave me a brief background of the brand that I chose. He ran across the store and grabbed a book by the company that I chose that had pictures of all of the famous people with the glasses and more information! He made me feel comfortable and glad that I chose a local company! Will definitely buy from here again when I need new ones! read more
