I had been a business member for Chase Bank for quite a while. But bank charges kept going up and service went down. It didn't seem like a place that appreciated my business as I was just a number. However, I have immensely appreciated my change to Global Credit union at the Safeway in the need to find a new place of doing business. Enrolling was easy and just today, Kyrstin assisted me in finding a way to lower my bank charges! That was unheard of in my previous financial firms. I've had this Bank like 7-8 years. It was all right when it was Alaska but ever since they changed it's gone downhill and everything Alaskan sold me on isn't the same. They use to have tons of locations, now there's one in the county. They used to be open 7 days a week how they're not. Used to be no overdraft fees, now there's fees which leads me to believe that their banking app is trash on purpose and unaccurate so people unintentionally overdraft. You're going to pay something and I'll just leave it there pending for a week. It's like just pull the money already and put it to the side quit waiting for something else to come along and pull money that way you could wait till there's insufficient funds to pull the thing that was pending so you can charge people overdraft but it ain't money. This is place stupid if there's insufficient funds why are they letting money that exceeds the amount in the account to be pulled. you cannot touch your account for a month and it still won't be accurate and they're doing it on purpose. Like yesterday I checked my account said I had $100 less then it says I have today and I haven't touched it there's been no deposits no withdrawals just a s***** unaccurate app. Don't keep your money in your bank put it in the stock market because that's all they're going to do with your money You're better off keeping it as cash on hand rather than put your trust in this company read more

This review is not for Alaska USA as a whole but for this specific location. I've been a member of Alaska USA for almost 10 years and have used them to finance all my vehicles, motorcycle, and business purchases. I have never and I mean ever have had an issue with any of their location until I came here. I have a really bad taste in my mouth on how I was treated when I initially came in. The representatives were all glaring at me and had dirty looks. I do understand that Renton is not the greatest of neighborhoods but I came in dress pants and polo as I had just left work. The teller seem to be short with me and seemed to be irritated by me. I literally just walked in to make a payment and did nothing else. What really got to me was as I was leaving, both tellers put a smile on and said "I hope you have a good day". I am so confused as to why two people could give two different reactions. I assure you that I will never bank here and have no problem driving to my normal Thrashers Corner location where they all know my name and treat me with respect. read more

This is for the company as a whole. My car was totaled and the insurance paid their part. The remaining balance is small but Global used a 3rd party to cancel the service contract 2 months ago and they are still holding those funds and expecting me to make payments even though their company has the funds to pay off the car. They see the funds in their own system but this 3rd party can hold those funds 8-12 WEEKS! This is F'IN insane. I either have to make the payments or get a ding on my credit. They were nice enough to offer to send me back my car payment when their sketchy 3rd party ALLIED SOLUTIONS gives them the funds owed to me back. Make this make sense. DO NOT get any loans from Global. If you have any accident you will get screwed by the 3 party companies they hire and expect the customer to foot the bill. (I have called every week for 8 weeks already and it could be another 6 weeks before the money is released. read more

Great credit union. Just don't plan on getting your money back with fraud charges. They make you jump through a ton of hoops and then you have to wait weeks or months. Still waiting for my claim to go through. Been 6 months. Guess they denied it...I don't know. If someone drains your bank account good luck getting the money back, that's all I can say. I love that you can walk into this business and be greeted every time. Everyone is so helpful and the ATM only charges me $1.50 to withdraw from an outside bank instead of the $3 or $4 fees by other banks. Inside Fred Meyer so its convenient, too! read more

I've been a customer of Alaska USA for several years, and overall, I really like them. The Renton branch was my regular branch until recently, when they changed the entire staff there, and I had a negative customer service experience with one of the new people. I decided to try out the Kent location today to get a document notarized, and they were very nice, very quick, and super-professional. I also like the fact that they are inside a Fred Meyer, which for those of us who are fans of Freddy's one-stop shopping-concept-but-isn't-Walmart, is very convenient! read more

After being part of a big bank and being nickel and dimed for everything I am worth, it's a breath of fresh air and so wonderful to be treated as a human being and not just a wallet. Every time I walk in they know who I am and treat me with the utmost courtesy and kindness. I have even called the customer service line a few times and I always get a person who can help me. This is not specifically for this branch but for this company in general. I took out a car loan with Alaska in 2014 since then, I have changed my insurance twice. Both times I have reported it to Alaska credit union. Both times they have failed to update their records which has resulted in them withdrawing an extra $500 from my account for their mandated insurance. They then refuse to reimburse you once you have proven their error. You have to go through your own back and dispute the withdraw which then makes you late for the car payment withdraw. TOTAL NIGHTMARE! I am going to refinance with a different company so I can work with someone else. In addition the customer service cant give you information about the insurance line doesn't appear to be answered locally. I cant deal.......... read more

I wish I could give them 0 stars. We opened a savings account here about a year ago, and never had any issues. Decided we wanted our checking and savings at the same bank and brought our checking over. First, they held my husbands paycheck for 10 days before releasing the funds. We were charged an overdraft fee for being -$.45 and even though we put the money back in the account less than an hour after it posted they still wouldn't remove the fee, and in fact were terribly rude about it. I have dealt with maybe 1 nice person the entire time we have had our account open. Nobody willing to help. Nobody willing to listen. I have also had my card denied even though the funds were available because of "suspicious activity" aka, Starbucks which I bought from regularly - so I'm unsure as to why they would block my card. Overall, much more trouble than they are worth. Walk, don't run to another bank. read more

We have just gone through a bit of a mess we needed to change banks and picked Alaska USA mostly because it is in the Safeway we use. We came in with cash and a check, and opened our account. When we were given the deposit slip it was explained that they hold checks for 10 days????? Why after all the years that banks have been around are they holding checks? and for 10 days!! with all the ways that computers can save time I don't think it takes 10 days?!?! Over the years, we have been using banks for about 50 years and in all that time never had a bank with a policy like this. We are changing our Social Security checks and my husbands pension check. Our bills don't want to wait 10 days they want their money on time, as we have always done. With computers and all that they can do I think the bank should rethink this policy or maybe just the, very long 10 days. Or maybe just which check they hold, say only personal checks. I am sticking with them and hope by next month when I hope all will be auto-deposited and we will be able to set our bills up with auto-pay, but this month these two 70 year old are having to borrow money, cash, to pay our bills. Pretty sad when grandparents need to borrow money from their adult children. read more
