Holly was amazing, patient, kind, and genuinely caring. I went with my partner, who's from Afghanistan, for moral support, and she went above and beyond to help us. She explained everything clearly, sympathized with his situation after being taken advantage of by a dealership, and offered great advice on what to do next. She helped him refinance his car and apply for a credit card, and both were approved! His car APR dropped from 21% to 6.49%, which lifted a huge weight off his shoulders. Helpful tip: If you're refinancing your car with them, make sure your auto insurance deductible is $1,000 or less. They do not allow more than that. We didn't realize this beforehand and had to scramble to switch our Progressive plan (which we had a $2,000 deductible at the time). We now use a different insurance with a $1000 deductible . So be prepared to either adjust your insurance or switch providers. You have 15 days to prove you have insurance on the car you are refinancing with BECU or else they will automatically add insurance to your refinancing bill. so get it done so it's ready when confirming your insurance info with them to avoid extra charges or any other problems. BECU credit union - No button to open door for wheelchairs - Banks & Credit Unions Near Me - Kent, Washington

I have been a customer of BECU for about 35 Years and generally fairly satisfied. I needed a cashiers check for $24,000 to buy a car. The deal fell through and I wanted the money put back into my account. I called and there is no way to stop payment as with a regular check and I needed to wait 90 days before it can be returned. After the required 90 day period I called and was then told I needed to submit an affidavit for lost/destroyed check (I burnt the check as not to fall into wrong hands) I submitted the affidavit on Feb 14 but its wasn't uploaded until Feb 22. I then needed to wait 10 business days for my money. After the 10 days, I called again and customer support assured me it would be in my account that day.....it wasn't. Each time I called I got an apology and another reason why it wasn't deposited. 2 days later I called again and the customer support person said there was very few comments of the previous calls. I eventually got to a supervisor and after conveying my displeasure she finally did what was needed to return the funds. The first level support personnel in my opinion need more training or are are incompetent. 4 calls, ~30 mins each call, supervisor involvement just to get my money back after I adhered to their rules. BECU will be my last choice for future business! read more

I live in Kent, however my disatisfaction is with the online banking. Last week I updated my password, and then, signed in again to ensure password worked. It did. Yesterday I tried to get on via my phone app. Correct password was put in twice, I was then locked out of account. Now, I must go to the website via a p.c. to use Temporary password, to again create another password. Since there is no show/hide feature upon putting password in, if the reason is....my finger is unknowingly hitting an unintended letter... I cannot correct the error, but instead, am sent back around again to do this over again. Wouldnt it be GREAT if the "show/hide" was added? Again, BECU, you lose a star for not providing small bills or change for your customers. This puts the burden back on customers to *find* change, therefore, passing the burden onto other businesses. read more

I walked into this BECU today to open an account. I could see immediately that the place was understaffed. People were in lines waiting to get a number to wait some more. I had no idea how to get in line as a new customer. I stood next to an Elderly Man who was frustrated, as he was having trouble with that kiosk and needed to pull money out to bring with him to the Philippines the following day. Not one person at any of the desks made any kind of eye contact, not a soul walking about trying to help. Decided it was a wash for me but wanted to help this gentleman. So I walked up to a desk where I was barked at by the employee as "I am working with someone now"! Yep I can see that but this man needs help. No go. Caught another employee and approached her and got another mouthful of negativity. She did agree to help this man. It was ugly. Obviously the employees are working understaffed often or their responses would never have been so knee jerk and rude. I see the same thing a BOA. I know I won't be returning there. Did call corporate and frankly I don't think they cared much either. Sad. read more

Although the employees that were helping me were nice, I do not appreciate the comments the trainer was making about my new rental home and what me or my boyfriend should do with our money. While I'm sure his intentions were good, it was unsolicited advice that I didn't ask for and I didn't appreciate. I simply came in for a cashiers check and was told I was wasting my Money. The conversation was not asked to be directed to our financial choices. I would have made an appointment to discuss a mortgage if that were the case. read more

I have been banking with BECU since 2001. This is my second time coming in to this branch. I have never experienced the worst customer service from anyone except today from Dan Sindelar MLO# 1753794. I came in to ask for an advice, how I can fix my credit report that they reported a late payment on my credit report and he immediately said "NOTHING, I CANNOT HELP YOU, WE CANNOT HELP YOU, THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO". Dan Sindelar didn't even made an effort to help me. I felt he wanted me to leave because it was 6:00pm and they were closing and he didn't care of helping me. DAN SINDELAR shouldn't be working at BECU at ALL if he doesn't even make any effort to help customer. As a customer service representative Dan needs to work/train on his people skills. read more

A few weeks ago, as instructed by Keybank we visited this BECU store to confirm payoff of our auto loan. Emily seemed very knowledgeable about your payoff procedure, discovered inside the envelope with that tracking number provided to us by Keybank was a check for a completely different person and account. Emily seemed genuinely interested in helping us find the payoff check so she immediately reached out to multiple departments in your company to notify them of the situation and be on the look out. She was in constant communication with the banker at Keybank as well as your loan and mailing departments to see that this is completed. We were always provided with an update as well. She did an amazing job of taking ownership of the issue. She was very professional and because of her efforts, we were able to finally have our loan paid off. We couldn't have done it without her help. We will continue to visit this branch in the future, as well as recommend her to others. Joyce Canete was super friendly and caring when it came to mine and my significant's situation. Probably one of the best we've met. Okay, as far as banks (credit unions) go, the services offered are great. The people are friendly and helpful, and they have a large presence in the Pacific Northwest. Why only 2 stars? Just take a look at the online banking web site. This isn't the late 80's people! There is no reason for the ugly and inefficient layout, broken links, and conflicting information. I consider myself relatively computer savvy and have and programmed created web sites and pages. The BECU sight is ridiculously disorganized and confusing. Get this. I lost my credit card. Should be easy to go online and report it lost, right? Nope. After a series of false starts (which included a couple of pages not found, and non-responsive pages), it turns out that the way a stolen card is reported is to send an email to BECU. There is no guidance on what should be included in the email. Name? Account Number? I didn't feel comfortable using an unsecure method (email) to send financial information, so included only the last four digits of the credit card as well as other information that I thought would be needed. Pressed Send, and waited. For days. Nothing, no response, no email from BECU that they had received the request. Nada. Zippo. Zilch. Finally tried calling the number on the web site, and was on hold for at least 15 minutes. Geez. Finally, called the Visa "Concierge" service on the back of the card. The automated system did not have an option to replace lost cards (though if you need help on booking a trip...) Pressed 2, entered my card number, in thirty seconds was connected to a very friendly and efficient BECU representative who took care of everything within a minute or two. Get with the times BECU! Try user testing your web site before putting it online. I mean, even the login screen looks like a page from a Russian hacker site--but less elegant. Rant over. I have voiced (posted) my complaints with BECU for the last 8 years, but nothing has been done to streamline their online presence. Although they have updated the home page, and it looks a lot better. But it's just lipstick on a pig. read more

I was opening an account and I was greeted by a great Rep of BECU by the name of Chase H. friendly and courteous to the fullest, and even acknowledged my 2 young boys about early saver. Quick with multi-tasking he entered my info into his computer while answering my questions. Friendly staff all around but Chase is DEFINITELY the man! The Pros: Lots of atms around the city of Kent, Renton, etc and staff are polite and helpful. Cons: The way the parking is designed, it's cramped & crowded. Proceed with caution As usual, citizens are helpful & polite and jumped in to point me to a vacancy. Now that summers ended, parking in front of the credit union, is non existent. My last two visits to the Kent Station/Ramsey Way location, the ATMs have been malfunctioning. Today, it happened again so I trekked over to another one nearby next to See's Candies, along w/ several other patrons. That one didn't work either. What's up with this system guys? Hope it can return to being reliable. Otherwise, sadly, may have no choice but to consider another credit union. read more

Wow ....wanted to open an account but got totally ignored by the team. Even though after checking in we were third in waiting line but people who came in later got called first. They did not even bothered to acknowledge that we were there sitting and waiting and waiting... usually credit unions like to brag how they are good for locals but with this kind of customer service I'm better off banking with my bank. After I left the credit union, it took me only 30 minutes to open an account in the bank. I can't believe we spent all the time waiting in the credit union's lounge. read more

My husband and I absolutely love that this location can do almost as much as the main branch and is practically in our backyard. We went in for some auto loan refi's and a credit line increase today and I'll have to say that I was really impressed with the knowledge of their Member Consultant Ryan McMartin had! He was very friendly and spent the time necessary (even though it caused a backup and he missed his scheduled lunchtime) to ensure we understood every detail and advantage to our requests. Incredibly easy and comfortable trusting my money to them. Also didn't feel the need to verify the information it was so easy to move forward without second guessing the decision! My Husband an I have been BECU account holders for years. 10 years ago he opened his first account in Tacoma. When we started dating years ago I opened up an account at his recommendation at a location in Renton had been banking there ever since. Recently we've moved and today was the day I brought my family in to open an account for my seven year old daughter. I went to the new location closest to my new home. Joyce was the representative assigned to the account. Upon going through the check list, Joyce let us know that a SSN card was required to open an account. I asked if there were alternative solutions where we could begin the application process, and I could send the required document via Secure Email message, or fax to finalize the account creation later the next week. During these requests for alternative solutions (We didn't want to make the trip down to the branch and wait in line for something payroll companies, and investment institutions, and another BECU did for my son two years ago, are able to do remotely), Joyce rarely made eye contact, and spent most of our conversation (and our interaction) typing on her computer, even when she was not processing our request. She was clearly talking to a coworker who would later join us. Joyce continuing typing away as I had completed the address change form. As we were preparing to leave, this coworker came over from a workstation half way across the branch to tell us yet again that they would refuse help us. (As if I couldn't understand the carefully constructed code from Joyce of "I don't need to help you and I don't really want to") Joyce clearly expressed this BECU location's unwillingness to make this a positive experience for my daughter. The last thing we needed was for yet another representative of BECU, who at no point was selected to help us, to rather than help one of the customers waiting in line, to join us and awkwardly disrupt our address update by awkwardly joining in to repeat Joyce's "no" If you want to open an account at BECU for you or your child, make sure you call ahead to determine what it is you need. These days BECU will not only go out of their way to tell you they can't help you, their tellers will also invite their coworkers over to let you know that you aren't welcome. read more

UPDATE: 12/16/17 - BAD MOBILE APP They always ask for feedback on their app but never make any improvements. I tried to deposit a check through my phone multiple times tonight and kept getting this message: "Error: Checks can not be deposited if you're on both the To and From account. Please use the Transfer feature to move money between your BECU accounts" HUH??? Its not even possible to be in both your To and From accounts at the same time...whatever that even means, and transferring money is completely different than depositing $$. I don't want to transfer, I want to DEPOSIT. But thanks to this lousy app I cant accomplish this. And right around the holidays? AND I HAVE BIILS TO PAY!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know what your developers are doing over there but clearly they don't test their own work. Wow. Thanks again BECU. UPDATE: After restarting my phone several times, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, logging on and off a thousand times, I finally had to jump through four people before anyone knew what I was talking about. Eventually I spoke to one of the mobile app developers who confirmed that what I was dealing with was a "glitch" that had been going on for a couple days. I asked why they didn't include a notice on their site that they were experiencing technical difficulties. He said they didn't put up a notice because it only effected some people but not everyone. So...I guess its OK to allow "some" customers to tear their hair out trying to deposit a check??? If I had known the issue was on their end I wouldn't have wasted my entire evening trying to troubleshoot the problem. I sent many, many messages through their 'feedback' section of the app and not ONE response. More time wasted. Two months ago I had another annoying issue with BECU and wrote a review then. The BECU employee who answered me with a scripted "we're sorry you had this experience. I will reach out to you via PM" never called me when I specifically asked him to and left my phone number. Their concern is phony! Their customer service SUCKS and no one cares what your problem is. I'm going to change banks, one that offers 24 hour customer service as well! read more

Third entry for unresolved problem from 11/24/18 (that's 18 days ago, folks!): I was told last week that my account would be credited on December 10 (yesterday) for the amount of the lost check even if they had not yet retrieved the check from the ATM machine. No surprise, they did not keep their promise so I am wasting another 35 minutes and counting on the Customer Service line trying to get my money in my account. Although I have provided them with exact time and location of original problem as well as the case number and my account number each time I have tried to resolved this case, they start from step one as if this is the first time they were made aware of the problem. I can understand their wanting to verify my identity but asking, yet again, for the branch location .... doesn't anyone take (or read) notes when there is an open case??? As a side note: "Anna" on the Customer Service line did her very best today to get this expedited. She deserves a 5-star rating. read more

Unfortunately today I found myself playing the role of that disgruntled customer who was angry at my bank. There were some odd grey areas with the rules of my transfers and it ended with a situation where I found myself charged with $120 worth of fees that I was never notified about in order to stop them from happening after the first time. I asked to speak to the manager (Manuel) a little more then upset. Emily printed out the information and explained as best she could what had happened and got me in to see Manuel pretty quickly. He was helpful and polite and understanding and helped me through my ordeal smoothly and quickly while offering me preventative measures for the future. I came in for quick withdrawal, a young woman in her 20s, with wet hair and sweat pants expecting to not be taken to seriously. I felt listened to and I'm happy to say after that little hiccup I'm back to loving my bank. I think Manuel and Emily did a good job today and deserve to be recognized. Thanks again! read more
