While guests were getting their makeup done and learning Spring makeup tips and tricks, we shopped around the boutique. The space is really big, and she curated really cute clothes, jewelry, and accessories. She also sells Jane Iredale makeup which I just learned about for the first time! The clothes were reasonably priced for a boutique, and there was a mix of comfortable basics to dresses. I also loved the waterproof, gold jewelry that she gets from Paris. There is a fitting room in the back, and I tried a couple things on. We browsed through the makeup and skincare products, but really learned a lot when it was our turn to get our makeup demonstration. Lauren the owner and Dessa (another incredible makeup artist) tried different Jane Iredale products on my mom and I. They both did an amazing job! Lauren explained that the Jane Iredale products are clean, vegan, and actually good for your skin. She also told us there is no talc in her products. The eyeshadow blended so nicely and didn't crumble or fall below the eyes. It was fun to learn about and we left with beautiful makeup! We bought a few of the makeup products, and Lauren ordered a BB cream for my mom that she was sold out of. The boutique is comfortable and Lauren is great. I loved that she hosted this party so we could check out the space! It seems like the boutique is really known for their facials. I found out about it from my friend who raved that she got the best facial ever at Vanity Box. I definitely plan to book a service in the future. I found Salon Bernabo because they use the Davine's line of hair color and shampoo. For anyone that's interested (obsessed?) with hair color and natural products I would recommend this particular line. It's not the generic Wella, etc brands that you find in ever other salon. It's better, sustainable, etc. Needless to say, these products aren't available at ever salon and the Pittsburgh area only has three salons that offer Davines. If you're looking for a super-posh, super trendy salon, you're better off going to Shadyside. If you're looking for superior skill, attentiveness, high quality, I would definately try Salon Bernabo. I see the same stylist each time, but the cuts I see leaving from the other stylists are top notch. Next comes the ability of the stylist to provide some guidance on "what to do" with your hair. I really love that I have a stylist that is able to guide me when some of my ideas won't work but provide me change. Hair is really important to me and after years of searching I've found a great place. I could not be happier and really look forward to getting my hair done here. It is a clean, beautiful salon and I've never had any bad experiences, apart from a barking dog during a facial. However, I won't be returning. I normally don't request an invoice be emailed to me. However, I did the last time I had a treatment and noticed on it that I was charged a 10% Covid-19 Surcharge. I did reply to the email and asked why this charge was on there as I was completely unaware. The owner wrote me back saying they would gladly refund the charge to my account (they did) and explained that the fee is disclosed and they also have a sign at the front desk (I missed this!). However, when I asked where it was disclosed, I found out it is buried in their FAQ section under Pricing: Due to increasing supply costs, a 10% surcharge of up to a maximum of $25 is added to all services. Had this surcharge been more transparent and included in the actual listing of their services along with pricing, I certainly wouldn't have booked an appointment knowing how much that would add to the service.

I was happy to find this place! The owners are both very helpful and kind. She just recently started making the bath bombs so you won't find them on the website but you can pick them up from your local farmers market. I was over the moon when I found out that she made an oatmeal bath bomb. There are 2 other blends I believe that are available. They are $8 a piece or 3 for $20. She also offers all sorts of different kinds of soaps. I'll be checking those out next. The bath bomb lasted forever and was perfect. I really enjoyed it. I'll be back for more for sure!
