The Beauty Bar Salon - Hair and makeup for senior pictures by Katie Robinson

The Beauty Bar Salon

Best salon in town. I've been here multiple times for cut and color. All the workers are…read moreprofessional and results are perfect every time. Sorry that another Yelp user had a bad time, but this was not my experience.

Do not waste your money. I had set up a consultation the day prior to my appointment to discuss…read morewhat I wanted. I wanted a balayage. My hair was medium brown with golden tint ends. ( I went in the salon with hair that was already two colors). Also a root touch-up. Well the whites around my hair line wasn't covered, it looked like a 10 years old was putting the root color on. I also had stains on my forehead and around my face. Bliss, the stylist, apologized for that. The big issue was this, I left with brown hair period. I asked why was there no balayage, she told me she had to tone my hair and that was all she could do. She said because I used box colors in the past I wouldn't be able to lift it for, "sometimes up to 6 years"!! She asked if I wanted to try to do it again another day, because she had other appointments. I was leaving for a trip to New York so I couldn't, nor wouldn't have her do my hair again. I mean I would have better results doing a color at home for $10.00. There was no resolution. I had to pay all that money for nothing, not to mention gas for traveling to this place twice and wasted time. I Called a Good Hair Day on Grand Calliou Road. Whitney took me in and did the most fantastic job ever. She felt bad that I was charged roughly $160.00 right before I saw her, by Bliss. So the stylist at A Good Hair Day only charged me for the product, however I gave her a very good tip. I thought because The Beauty Bar was fancy enough to require consultations, that there would be skilled stylists. Not the case. I also have photos from the result at beauty bar then the drastic beautiful Balayage that was medium brown to blond. Skip by Beauty Bar go directly to A Good Hair Day!! Whitney did an amazing job, I can't express that enough.

i was new to the area, and I was terrified to trust someone here with my hair. It had been 5…read moremonths since my last highlight, so I had to take the chance. i went to my appointment, and I spoke with the stylist in depth, even showed her pictures. She confidently assured me that she understood and would have no problem doing it. I felt like she truly understood and knew what she was doing. The process took 5 hours. This was a bit concerning, because my hair stylist in NC took no more than two hours on the regular, sometimes 3 for special things. Believe me, sticker shock doesn't begin to describe how I felt, when I saw the price. It was $187. However, I thought it may be more expensive here. the lighting was not really good, so I could not tell if it looked ok, until I came home. When I saw my hair in my mirror and my lighting, I was mortified. I told her that I absolutely did not want anything that looked gold or red. That is exactly what she did. In five hours, she was unable to do the job she promised. I decided to let her know how I felt, even though I would normally have said nothing. She made me another appointment. Some small voice told me to not go back, but I believed that she did not do her job, certainly not a $187 job. However, I ignored that voice and returned. Well, I learned that I need to listen to that voice. She went over the color I wanted, and she looked at the pictures again. She, again, assured me that she understood. She then had me look at some type of hair color swatch and appeared unsure what I wanted. I pointed out the absolute lightest color. With four additional hours in her chair, I was praying that she actually knew what she was doing. I could not have been more wrong. When I saw the end result, I was near tears. The insult to injury quickly followed, when I was told that I owed over $200 for this job. I paid it, so I could just leave and go cry in my car. With tip included, I paid her nearly $500. I still do not have what I wanted, and I am scared to trust anyone else. Honestly, the allure of the "high end" appearance gives you a sense of security. It is a facade. I probably could have gone to a mall hair place and gotten better results. I am ready to drive 15 hours back to NC, where I am positive the stylist knows what they are doing. Also, my stylist would never charge me to fix something she messed up. That just magnified the horror, knowing I could not go somewhere and have it fixed, due to the damage that it would do to my hair. I do not want anyone else to have this happen to them, which is why I am writing this. I do not recommend, in fact, I caution you to not go anywhere near this salon.

The staff are experts in their fields, all the staff members I interacted with were beyond knowledgable, friendly, and easy to talk to. There was no stuffy or pressured atmosphere. The building was tastefully decorated, clean, and inviting. They have a beautiful outdoor courtyard area. I initially wanted 2 get a couples massage with my husband but ended up getting a pedicure while he got a massage since they are not set up to do couples massages and no regrets here!
