It is still clean but about half or maybe more of the shops are unoccupied, the food court is pretty sad, and one of the anchor stores is gone. The stores that remain seem to be very slow and overall there are only few customers in the mall. I think about 30 cars were near Macy's where I parked. The Mexican restaurant Abuelo's looks like it is closed down but signs are still there but zero customers so I think it was closed. The only store that looked semi-busy was the Chinese massage place where there were about four people being massaged and one customer waiting. I honestly was just looking around to get some exercise on a cold day but I really couldn't find anything I really wanted to buy even if I was searching for something. There were also lots of kids just using the mall as a playground but they seemed to enjoy the empty mall. The highlights of my visit was the sports memorabilia store and the pet store. They were also the only places that the clerks engaged me to see if I needed any help. I guess we have to just get used to the slow death of shopping malls in the future and realize online shopping is here to stay.

It reminds me of a two story version of Pembroke Mall (RIP). They renovated the mall since I was last there. It looks cleaner and modern(ish). There are a lot of vacancies including where Reignforest tea was. We walked the entire perimeter of the top floor once and then the perimeter of the bottom floor twice which was an estimated 1.5 miles. Not a very far walk, but it was with intensity. A few notable stores in the mall were Macy's, rack room shoes and bath and body works. Otherwise, the mall was pretty dead with little activity. The food court was the area that was most booming with activity but it still felt like a ghost town. If you've ever seen zombie apocalyptic movies, it kind of has the vibes like the mall you would be running into to escape from the zombies. Except the mall was already dead when it was open.

There's also a food court with Charley's Subs, a Chinese restaurant, and a seafood restaurant. Its not many restaurants in the court, but there are other food options around the outlet like Jamba Juice, Starbucks, and Auntie Anne's. There's a candy store also, but its kinda pricey. But you can find all sorts of chocolates, gummy candy, truffles, ice cream, and etc. At the entrance of the outlet there's other restaurant choices as well, that may be better than some of the food court options. I do like the outlet, but can't stand the parking. It gets pretty crowded and you may have to park further away. They do have a few parking spots in front that you can pay for to park closer. You scan and pay about $7. There's plenty of benches and areas to sit at and even a play area for the kids. There's a pond that you can see from the food court as well. The food court area has a massage chair area where you can pay for chair massages, and there's a cell phone accessories store inside as well. This is a nice outdoor outlet with plenty of stores to shop at. Check them out!

It's a nice area with a good amount of restaurants. There's P.F. Chang's, Cheesecake Factory, Nandos, California Pizza Kitchen, Ruth Chris, Cinnaholic, and much more. There's also the Sandler Center, Funnybone, and a number of other stores for shopping!! There are a few parking garages as well as street parking if you're lucky. It's a nice place to hang around at for the day and just explore.

While I am sad and inconvenienced by Starbucks' departure, the shopping center offers plenty. CVS, Hallmark, and The Fresh Market are among my most frequent visits. Adele Diamond is the best jewelry store with amazing owners and fantastic staff. There are also a few restaurants and bakeries to enjoy. When I had a gym membership, I frequented the YMCA.

Sometimes there is confusion with other Hilltop stores at the intersection so keep in mind there is signage. The Shops at Hilltop are located on the Southeast corner off the intersection of Laskin and First Colonial. All the shops are collectively known as The Shoppes of Hilltop. However, the break it down by East and West. Customers have one access point off First Colonial and three off Laskin. If there is a drawback it's the bottleneck on the First Colonial side during rush. I have never had an issue with parking. The lot can be a bit hit or miss on debris. They do have a few security guards that patrol. I have never felt unsafe. The stores I frequent the most are Fruitive, Fresh Market, Bottlecraft, Bakers Crust, Cobalt Grille, Tino and Nectar. A few more in between as there are a lot of stores. My family enjoy the Shoppes at Hilltop and I would recommend working them in your rotation. Many are local businesses which is more reason.

I came here for parking to visit the scope arena, and a nearby fair. I didn't really walk around but the fact that the food court only had two operating restaurants tells me all I need to know. The theaters are closed and honestly most of the stores are closed as well. So overall, great for parking to visit nearby businesses but it is sad as I had great memories of this place from about 20 years ago. Time has not been kind to malls in VA, in general.

It is sad to see the movie theater closed and it's one of the best places to park at if you have to go anywhere downtown it's pretty inexpensive. We went to a play over a Chrysler and I had to pay a dollar to park. I will forever love the mall and hopefully when they do rebuild, they keep a lot of of the old soul intact. There are a number of anchor stores including Barnes & Noble, Best Buy, Harris Teeters, Marshall's, Office Max, Old Navy, PetSmart, Target, & Total Wine. Just about any type of business one would need can be found there. You'll find numerous banks, a major drug store, hobby store, beauty supplies, a chiropractor, eye doctor, denture & implant office, gaming store, furniture store, greeting card store, surf shop, clothing stores & many eateries. The center, located in the Greenbrier section of Chesapeake, is not close to me. But I frequent it relatively often because some of my doctors have offices in the nearby Sentara Careplex. After a doctor's appointment I can't resist a visit to Everbowl, my favorite Açaí Bowl shop. There is also the option of picking up a takeout dinner at Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers. Both favorites are located among the businesses located on out parcels of the market center. The shopping area is clean & well laid out with plentiful parking and a modern facade. For those who live in Chesapeake this is a large and convenient place to shop. For those of us who live quite a distance, it's a regular stop if one of my favorites is there. It's a fun and delicious finale to a doctor's appointment.
