There aren't any greens that are impossible, and there are several yards of rough on each side of the fairways before you get into serious hazards (meaning the average golfer has a little room to miss before being penalized, which I like). And the grounds crew does a nice job keeping the fairways and greens in good condition (though par 3 tee boxes could be improved). Overall, I'd come back and play again every once and I while, but I wouldn't make it a home course because it's a bit overpriced in my eyes.

I've always experienced very fast greens and their members tend to not fix divots on the course or the tee box as much as you'd like to see. The food has been impressive as of late as well with affordable beer prices. I will say that it is LOUD on the course and when the garage doors are open as the main road is full of 18-wheelers and coal trucks steamrolling through at 50+ MPH.

It's a very open course - not a lot of rough, and not too many hazards. It's an excellent place for beginners to learn the game. I always had fun playing at Oakbrook. The cost to play is about half of what I paid at other courses, and I've enjoyed Oakbrook more than the others. The driving range is also inexpensive - about 75% what you'd pay elsewhere. It's a slight drive from Johnstown, but it's definitely worth it.

Turned out to be exactly what I needed and hoped it would be. I'm still very much learning this game. My father inlaw got me a fitting for a new driver for Christmas from 84 golf center. I finally scheduled an appointment with them just this past week. I met them today and Chris greeted me on arrival. Both Chris and Joe spent the next hour or so analyzing my swing with crazy computers and raw teaching skill. They worked hard to correct my swing before even letting me pick a club. Then probably spent another 20 minutes or so getting the shaft right. I never felt like I was wasting there time... Chris truly seemed vested in my getting it right. Didn't know how great it can feel swinging correctly with the right driver and have the ball go where it's supposed to. Almost 2 hours later I walked away with a mental checklist (which I wrote down) to help my swing and a driver that is setup for me. I highly recommend visiting these experts. I'll be going back for lessons and any time I need a new club. Thanks guys

A very solid 9-hole course…read more.. I'm told this is a great learners course, and as a learner, I have to say it was fun, challenging (Hole #5 in particular), and easy to get around. Customer service in the house that doubles as a clubhouse was super friendly and helpful. The only nit I have is that the greens sure were in need of some cutting as the grass was higher than I had experienced in other places. The views across the valley can be lovely - you may get more sniffs of nature than you desire on certain holes, but that factors into the ambiance. Clubhouse: Bad. Beautiful golf course opened by former Pirates Jerry Lynch and #DickGroat fifty years ago -still a Pittsburgh "must play". I gave it five stars not because it is perfect, but I love the homespun feeling and applaud a family-owned business that has endured for so long.
