OK so normally I don't like these trendy super-schmick kinds of places (of which Broadbeach has…read moremany) but the food here was REALLY REALLY good. And this is a burger place. And I'm a vegan. I was vacationing on the Gold Coast with my parents, and we went in here for dinner on a whim because we were dressed pretty casually and they looked a little more forgiving of boardshorts and flip-flops than the other trendy dinner spots nearby. At first I had my reservations about whether or not I could eat anything here, but when I told the manager I was vegan, he didn't even bat an eye. He said they have two veggie burgers on the menu, neither of which uses egg in the binder. He volunteered this information on his own -- I didn't even have to ask, which definitely shows he's knowledgeable about veganism, because most restaurant proprietors have no clue that a lot of veggie burgers use egg. There are two veggie burgers -- the Eats Roots and Leaves ($14.50, red lentil and chickpea patty with coleslaw and tomato relish) and the Magic Mushroom ($12, mushroom patty with lettuce, red peppers, feta, and garlic ailoi). He told me the Magic Mushroom could be made vegan without the feta and aioli, but I'm not a mushroom fanatic so I opted with the Eats Roots and Leaves, which was DELICIOUS. All the flavours just melded together perfectly, and the patty stayed together perfectly, no crumbling. The bun wasn't too scratchy or hard (like some burger buns in Oz are) and it was a very filling dinner with a side of fries for under $20. My parents also enjoyed their (meaty) burgers and fries. Make no mistake, this place is a drinking establishment too -- as evidenced by their splashy cocktail and wine list, and the raucous (possible hen's party) group of women enjoying their bevvies next to us. So you don't have to have a meal here to enjoy this place (although the food really is great.) The atmosphere is...well, Broadbeach. Trendy, shiny, and all those other adjectives. A splashy mural was painted on one wall, depicting a typical Gold Coast beach scene (including bikini-clad maidens and ibis stealing food), and some of the seating areas had swings suspended from the ceiling as chairs! I wanted to sit at a table with swings, but my parents weren't keen and the hen's party swooped in and seized them anyway. The place is buzzing, it's trendy, it's very Broadbeach-y -- but the food is delicious and it's a fun place, and I love that they are so accommodating for vegans.

Who doesn't like a good burger? And who doesn't like a good bar? Nobody worth knowing, that's who…read more And here we have a burger bar, combining the very best of both. Tucked away in the swanky strip of bars and restaurants along Oracle Boulevard in Broadbeach, this place is a pleasant surprise. Pleasant because it's welcoming and hip at the same time - not an easy trick to pull off - and surprising because the food is actually reasonably priced while also being delicious. I like everything about this joint. For a start, there's a wide array of seating to suit just about any group. Tables inside and out to suit parties of all sizes, a couple of comfy couches, an actual bar with bar stools in case you're on your own, and even a few swing seats hung from the ceiling (haven't seen that before). The bar is well stocked with an excellent array of beers from the crafty to the usual suspects, and a wine list of similar merit sits comfortably alongside what looks a handy offering of cocktail choices for those that way inclined. I enjoyed the 'Cow Pig Cow' burger but there's one for every taste, including fish and vegie options, and other nibblies for those not in the burger mood. Get there.

Also a little pricey for the size of the portions served but still a taste sensation! Highly recommended.

Romance, cocktails and good food were required but my Yelp-fu had yet failed to lead us anywhere particularly good. As we wandered down Surf Parade we realised our options were slim. Koi Restaurant looked very full and the menu was promising but we were politely advised there would be a 20 minute wait for a table. Next door we scoped out Bin 89 and managed to snake a couple who took a few more minutes perusing the menu. We knew our options were closing out fast so we made a dash to land the last table in the whole place. A pokey little two-seater right next to the service desk. Not ideal, but we were smug. The wait staff were welcoming and quick to offer us water and menus. We were able to order cocktails quickly. I had the Purple People Eater which was initially a little strong, but mellowed with the melting ice and the boy had a red wine served in a mini-caraffe - I don't know if it was the sheer size of the glass, but it looked like a teeny tiny serving. We decided quickly on our food order. I went with "small plates" of salmon mousse (served on a half shell), beef taco and salt and pepper calamari. I have a small appetite at the best of times and being gluten free, I had limited (but clearly labelled!) options. The boy went with the rib eye fillet and red wine jus with mash. Very manly (and typical) of him to order meat and potatoes. My salmon mousse was to-die-for. Like, lick the shell clean good. I was making very raunchy noises and my date had to tell me to tone it down it was so fabulous. I considered ordering a second, but remembered I had two more dishes coming. The calamari was so-so. The mayonnaise was fine and creamy, and the batter wasn't too thick and had the right amount of crunch.. the squid was soft and not rubbery at all it was just.. boring. And oily. And very meh. Then the taco arrived. It was a thing of beauty. The shredded beef was spiced to perfection where my mouth felt slightly warm but not obnoxiously hot. The accompaniment in the soft corn tortilla cut through the heavy meat and added delicious texture. I regret not recording the description somewhere as I really have no idea what ingredients they used. Too many cocktails before dinner perhaps? Regardless I enjoyed the ambience, wait-staff and menu items so much I want to go back immediately. Or whenever we have an excuse to spend a weekend on the coast and dine out.

The stools were weathered to the point where the leather was almost entirely flaking off and the tables looked like they had definitely seen better days. The whole space was almost completely stools and bar tables with very limited "plush" booth seating. It felt squished and really bright for what I had hoped would have a relaxed lounge club feel. We ordered a cocktail each after trying to get the attention of the 4 staff members for around 20 minutes, and thankfully I enjoyed my mixed berry caprioska. We left quickly and don't plan on returning unless it undergoes a comprehensive facelift. I can imagine it wouldn't be quite so shabby if it was filled with people, but we were one of three groups there on Saturday and it all just looked very

Me being me, I also wanted something to snack on. :) in the mood for something to share, and not a meal, I quickly googled a tapas bar near where we were that brought up Onyx as a suitable suitor. Right-O. StrAight b-line across the road and before long, we had plonked ourselves down and ordered the first ound of drinks as we were being seated. Out they came, open up. Down the hatch and before long, they were gone. Then that's where things started going pear shaped. Admittedly, we arrived at about 3:30 which must have been their cross over time between lunch and dinner. However, there were about 3 other tables seated. There was only one bar staff and one waitress. However, she was tending to the change over of the tables. Therefore, it took us about 10 minutes to try and flag her down. We managed to get service to order another round of delicious beverages and Tapas items. When the orders were raised, it did not take long for the items to come out. On our selected menu, we ordered the Duck Pancakes, Feta and Mushroom Arancini and Tempura Haloumi. The duck pancakes. Pretty much a deconstructed Peking Duck. (Oh I Love my Peking Duck) Out on the plate came the pancakes, diced duck meat, cucumber, shallots and the Hoi Sin Sauce. Unfortunately, the pancakes were on their way to stale, the meat was dry and the cucumber was far from freshly cut. The Arancini, although cooked well, had no flavor to it. We couldn't taste any garlic, there was only one small piece of Feta spread across 2 balls and no stringy cheese as I'm used to. The Haloumi. Haloumi is god's cheese. However, the way that this was cooked resembled a potato scallop from the fish and chip store. Very greasy and oilly. Very Big Disappointment. Although very disappointed in the meal. The Cocktails are awesome.

Upon entry we checked in with the cashier and were seated at a reserved table. We both ordered burgers as well as cheese fries, a strawberry shake, and a dr pepper to drink. Now I was very much in between a 3-4 star review however because you can't do it in the middle I rounded up simply for their outstanding service and delicious burgers. They were the most "American-Tasting" burgers I have eaten since being in Australia. Fantastic quality and they even have a thousand-island type sauce!! However I was very disappointed with the milkshake and cheese fries. They took the term MILKshake literally and it simply tasted like strawberry milk. It was not thick like a regular ice cream based shake. I left nearly the entire thing on the table after having one taste. The fries were also a disappointment. Definitely don't expect them to taste like cheese fries back home. They simply had a cheesy sauce resembling nacho cheese instead of having melted cheese. However due to the fantastic service and incredible burgers I'm giving this place 4 stars. I will definitely be back for the burgers!

Between us we tried the southern fried chicken wings, the chilli, the choc malt shakes, the double beef burger, the burger special (spicy) and the Mac and cheese. The milk shake was awesome-great flavour. The Mac and cheese was delicious too-nice strong cheesy flavour. My husband loved his double burger but I found mine (the special) to have way too much mayo on it and it just overpowered the burger flavour and it fell apart in my hands. Finally the chicken was just a bit too bland for fried chicken. Plus fried chicken should probably be whole pieces of chicken, not wings (just my view on this though) The service was excellent and the tap beer was great too. Would go back for a standard burger and shake. Price was reasonable but I also have a little bit of an issue in paying nearly $15 for a burger and you still have to buy fries or something on the side. If I could, I would probably give Easy Street 3 1/2 stars but because I can't, I will round it up to 4 base on the great service.
