I've been a first time client at many salons as I move around quite a bit and I even worked as a receptionist at a hair salon for a while, so I'd say that for the average person I have a good understanding of how they operate and how to act as a client. I needed my hair highlighted before going out of town since I couldn't get in with my normal stylist in time. I specifically picked this place based on the stylist's Instagram portfolio (Catherine Keller), who had availability at 9am, so I booked with her two days before. The appointment was booked but needed to be confirmed and since I'm no stranger to online scheduling I'm sure all she had to do in those two days was hit a button to confirm or decline. The day of rolled around and at 8:30 I called, texted, and Instagram messaged Catherine since my appointment had not been confirmed. I didn't hear back so out of respect for her time, I drove 30 mins for my appointment. I walked in and there was music playing in the back and I could hear someone talking but the place was otherwise completely empty. I wasn't about to wander around since I honestly felt like I was intruding so I called, texted, and DMed again. I sent one last message around 9:30 saying that I was still here and that I'd be leaving soon unless I heard otherwise from her. At 9:35 I got an email that they had declined my 9:00 appointment. Screenshot included. Honestly I'm just super frustrated as I really needed this confidence boost and went out of my way (1 hour round trip) to be a respectful client only to be completely ignored. This is super unprofessional and I have never seen something like this since stylists/salons usually value their time and have strict policies to protect them. If a client is able to book an appointment with you, the least you can do is confirm or deny BEFORE their appointment time! Then I might have been able to find somewhere else to go at the very least, but now my only time window for this has been wasted. Needless to say I won't try again. Do better

When I asked if she could just straighten my hair instead, she told me she "didn't have time" because she had another client scheduled. My appointment was at 1:30 and by around 2:45 I was basically rushed out and left with nothing but a ponytail, while still being charged $45. Overall, the experience felt unprofessional, dismissive, and uncomfortable. Update: In response to the owner's reply, I would like to add that she repeatedly claimed my hair was "straight" and did not curl. However, after I returned home, I styled my natural hair myself and my curls were very defined, full, and voluminous. I can provide photos showing this. This further confirmed my belief that she either did not know how to work with my hair texture or did not understand how to style my curls properly. I would also like to mention that after I posted my reviews on Yelp and Google, she began contacting me about them. She called my mother regarding the review and then proceeded to send me multiple messages about it. I found this behavior highly unprofessional and inappropriate. Additionally, after looking more closely at the photos used to advertise her natural hair services, I noticed that many of the natural hair pictures do not appear to be examples of work performed on clients during my experience with her. As a customer, this raises concerns for me about whether the advertised results accurately reflect her own work and experience with natural hair. Everything I stated in my original review was an honest account of my experience. I have no reason to misrepresent what happened. Based on both the appointment itself and the events that followed, I do not believe she handled the situation professionally.

She knows a lot about maintaining a healthy natural while still getting it pressed.
