DO NOT GO HERE - AVOID DR ELLA GLASER AT ALL COSTS. This was hands-down the worst dermatology experience I have ever had--deeply frustrating and dehumanizing. Dr. Glaser's disregard for my concerns as a Black woman left me questioning whether her approach was racially motivated. She ignored my medical history (being prone to PIH and keloids). This experience was so egregious that I will be filing formal complaints with the American Board of Dermatology and the New York State Department of Health. No Black woman--or anyone for that matter--should ever feel dismissed or ignored by a healthcare professional. If you value your skin and health, stay far away from Dr. Ella Glaser. Her care is lazy, outdated, and completely unsuited for anyone with melanin-rich. Dermatologists are supposed to listen, evaluate, and treat patients holistically--not rush through appointments with dismissive remarks and basic OTC recommendations. You deserve better. Don't make the mistake I did. -------- I booked an appointment for two concerns that had transpired within a week: 1. Severe eczema on my face, neck, and ears. 2. A second-degree burn on my stomach that left me deeply concerned about scarring and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) Despite waiting seven days for this appointment (because the dermatologist I originally wanted wasn't available until March), I was treated with surface-level recommendations, dismissive remarks, and no effort to deliver thoughtful care. ---  Burn: A Masterclass in Neglect When I asked about accelerating wound healing and reducing PIH, Dr. Glaser flatly told me: "You're going to get PIH regardless." This is unacceptable and uninformed. As someone who understands skin science, I know there are evidence-based methods to reduce PIH, including: * Controlling fibroblast proliferation to prevent excessive scar tissue. * Reducing oxidative stress to avoid wound inflammation. * Regulating melanocyte production to keep pigmentation levels even. Her dismissive tone and refusal to acknowledge this left me questioning her competency. She offered only a copper scar healing cream and dismissed my questions about antioxidants, supplements, or IV treatments--claiming there's "no correlation" between these and wound healing, which is patently false. To make matters worse: * She didn't even examine the burn to assess healing progress or check for infection. * She failed to offer ANY proactive steps to minimize hyperpigmentation, or inflammation during the OPEN WOUND phase. The Eczema: Completely Ignored I explained that my eczema left my skin severely dry, thin, and discolored, and that OTC hydrocortisone and La Roche Posay Cicaplast were not moisturizing enough. I requested: * A prescription-grade skin barrier cream with proven hydration (e.g., Hylatopic). * Help understanding the cause of my eczema, as this was my first experience with it in over 30 years living in NYC. Instead of addressing my concerns, Dr. Glaser: * Dismissed patch testing: Claiming it wasn't worth doing because it takes five days to track allergens. * Blamed my eczema on "common winter dryness," offering no meaningful explanation for why it occurred. Recommended Avene Cicaflate Crème--which contains no ingredients she could even explain--despite me repeatedly expressing that OTC solutions had already failed to moisturize my skin. It saddens me to once again leave this review, however in light of recent events I think it should be well known that this office has no respect for patients, and will refuse treatment based on a review. I initially held back, but I've dealt with 1) incorrect prescriptions, with Dr. Mack sending repeat- failed prescriptions, despite their high cost. If you enjoy having both your time and your co-pay wasted due to your physicians disinterest, Dr. Mack is well worth the investment. 2) I've heard office employees lie to patients, claiming their NP is equally as qualified as a doctor, which is intentionally misleading. Furthermore, when I informed the office I would be ten minutes late due to someone hitting my car, they callously cancelled my appointment, and I received and email from the office manager, emphasizing a delay on my end as justification for their atrocious and aggressive customer service. Also, please do not fall for the lies in their responses to customer reviews- they do not value "positive or negative" feedback and they will ban you from future appointments if you attempt to hold them accountable on this platform. You all deserve patient centered care from those capable of expressing empathy and genuine concern. This office provides substandard care with little concern for anyone's wellbeing, and will retaliate via delayed appointments and abrupt cancellations. Take your business elsewhere. Bear in mind this is after nearly a decade of patronage because it was close to my old office. I forgave them losing all my medical records a couple years ago. I forgave failure to return test results. I forgave moving my appointments to accommodate their own schedules. And I forgave waiting because other patients needed extra time. My experience turned into a nightmare. My Dr, Ella Glaser, was originally at another location. After she switched companies, everything went sour. I had to be monitored after she diagnosed skin cancer in 2024. I had an appointment in May 2025 to see her. I was very sick and had to postpone. The office said I had to pay $100 to come back. It was very cruel. I was not going for something that could wait like Botox. I was going to a life preserving check up. The manager, Stephanie, refused to give in. $100 meant more to them than my life. She refused to connect me to the owner and told me the owner was not going to talk to me. I called the owner, Dr. Lian Mack, but she refused to call me back. They are frauds if you are looking for people that sincerely care. Now, they threatened me after I told them I would publish this online.. Are these the people you want performing surgery or monitoring you for cancer? I don't think so. Glam Derm should be called "Scam derm." Their office is lovely, but the dermatologist and customer service is not. I have worked with Dr. Mack more than once, and I find her incredibly condescending with a judgy demeanor. Despite having gone there at least 4 or 5 times, virtually nothing the office has suggested to me has improved my skin. If anything, I have modified my own regimen and it's worked better than what they've suggested. Not to mention there are a million fees. I only transferred here as another dermatologist (Dr. Love) moved from her own office to this one, and she used to be my dermatologist (but I was never able to book an appointment with her so I had to settle with Dr. Mack). They also no longer take my insurance, which is a bust. Just a super greedy, money hungry company. I have never even written a review on yelp but I am entirely furious. I desperately need a new refill of my tretinoin cream, but I will find it elsewhere. I could not just get it through them, as I haven't visited for over a year, and I am required to go in for legal reasons before receiving a refill. I am being charged $300 for a no-show fee (which I take full accountability for). Important. to note that over their online chat (which is the only way to reach them) I was initially told I would be paying $200 for my appointment. Then I was told deposit overall for the appointment would have been $300. So adding the no-show fee and the deposit, that's $600 JUST for tretinoin. Yeah, not happening. So far I have only had 2 visits with Dr. Mack but the visits went well. The staff from front desk to provider were very professional and engaging. I was early for both appointments and there was minimal waiting time. Copays were easily/electronically processed. I haven't done the full body scan yet that I see others reviewed about but I do have an appointment so we'll see how that goes. But if it's like the other's appointments, I'm sure it will go well. Lastly, Dr. Mack really goes out of her way to explain procedures and make sure you're comfortable. The place is bright and clean. Parking is free and accessible. My only issue was that the location initially was difficult to find. I didn't know exactly where it was and walked around. Eventually I called the front desk and was directed accordingly. read more

On second thought avoid this place at all cost for skincare needs. As previously shared, I visited this practice for assistance with improving acne. The medications prescribed ruined my skin. If you've ever suffered with any skin condition you are aware it can take months to heal. Over 6 months with this practice my skin looked worse than it ever had in my life. After getting a second opinion I've seen an improvement in a short period of time. I dont know if this office intentionally ruins skin or simply doesn't know what they are doing. Maybe they're good at cosmetic stuff but if you're dealing with a growth or a skin issue you're medically concerned about I would advise seeing a real dermatologist. This place is really no better than your standard sketchy medspa. The front desk reception is so rude and flippant even when you're trying to contact your doctor about a serious medical issue. I've been dealing with a very serious issue and I tried to confirm over their stupid portal that doctor glaser felt comfortable and qualified to perform the procedure to remove the issue in office. I get to the office and she tells me due to the size of the issue she cannot perform the procedure. This is despite the fact that I described diameter MULTIPLE times over the portal. I took off work to spend 5 minutes in their office for them to tell me it was too big to remove in office despite me telling them the size and location over and over again. Told no copay, billed 10 months later during Corona had an annual skin screening in June 2019 and was told at the time of my appointment that I did not have a co-pay. Flash forward to April 2020 and I receive a statement of billing for a copay. Not only do I find this extremely unprofessional that it took so long to be notified but also that when questioned asking for it to be waived, I received a very rude reply, about statements having been made in August and September and none further all of which I either never received or were never sent. If these were essential why was there no phone call an email, Or subsequent bills? It is now during Corona virus lockdown when the situation is tough for everyone so it is bad faith, to take more money when they have already been paid over $100 for 20 minutes of time by the insurance company. I bought a groupon for 2 clear and brilliant treatments. Wait time is relatively long, but not the worst. The first time I went, they applied numbing cream and after my questioning, told me they would be doing 4 passes at the medium level. I was a little disappointed as it felt a little short and I did not receive a facial cleansing beforehand or sunscreen after, as they showed on the video on their website. The second visit, they did not seem very aware that I was using a Groupon, whereas at my first visit they had. This time, still no facial cleansing or sunscreen but they definitely did more passes, at least double. So I got the impression that they skimped out a little. read more

Be careful - would not recommend! I went to this place first for a body scan and they do a quick 5 minute scan, definitely not thorough enough to catch anything. I decided to give this place a second chance when needing a dermatologist again because it was close to my office. They double charged me for my copay, which I caught and had to monitor to be sure it was removed (the least of my worries). The doctors bedside manner gave off the impression of being inexperienced and rushed. She was only in the room for 3 minutes maximum, and I was charged with a procedure I didn't receive and was not told I would be charged for it until I received the bill. Upon finally speaking with the office manager after 5 weeks of persistent reach out she asked why I didn't just come back/contact them, when I had been reaching out and timing aligned with the Covid19 lockdown. She was not willing to listen to me and subsequently hung up on me while I was speaking. Both experiences I've had with Glamderm have been inexperienced and unprofessional so I would not recommend, and I have a lovely scar to show for it. read more

I've been to several dermatologists over the years and no one has been able to completely treat and rid my acne. I always wanted even skin without piling on foundation, and now I have it! Most recently I also started Botox in my forehead to rid the etched line I have (and I'm only 27)! Lian did an amazing job. Virtually painless and awesome results. Overall negative experience. I arrived at my appointment 15 minutes early as I was a new patient and knew there would be paperwork to fill out (Including a form giving my consent to keep my credit card on file? Very strange.) Still waiting in the lobby and multiple patients that have arrived after me are seen before me. I was not seen for an hour, 45 minutes after the time of my appointment. I walk into the exam room where the physicians assistant informs me they are running extremely behind on appointments (obviously) and apologizes for the wait. I made my appointment with Dr. Sarika Banker but she brought along an individual who was training (physicians assistant or nurse I believe?). From the second she walks into the room she is completely rushing through the appointment, dismisses all of my questions about acne and sun damage, and tells me I would need to make a separate appointment if I wanted to discuss them. Would also need to make an entirely separate appointment if I wanted a body scan of any moles/freckles. Ultimately ends up freezing off a small wart on my finger and advising me to make a follow up appointment to complete the freezing process (another follow up? up to 4 appointments now...). The entire thing lasted less than 10 minutes. I left feeling frustrated that I had waited an hour to be seen for less than 10 minutes and spent more time being told to book more appointments than actually focusing on my exam. If that wasn't frustrating enough, then the bill came! I booked this appointment through zocdoc because I had searched for dermatologists near me that my insurance covered. I was charged before insurance $300 for a 'complex appointment'. Complex?? It was less than 10 minutes and all my questions were dismissed? How is that possible? On top of being charged another $400 to freeze off a small wart for a total of $700. After my insurance the bill still totaling $175. For. 10. minutes. I would be more inclined to pay this if I had actually had any of my questions or issues resolved but instead I was only recommended to book additional appointments - likely where I would be charged another $700 for each of the 3 follow ups. Ridiculous. Suffice to say I will not be returning to this office and I would advise you to proceed with caution. read more

I purchased a Groupon in March 2020 just before the pandemic put everything on halt. I was able to complete three of my six sessions and was very happy with the aesthetician then, Neysa, so I was bummed out when I couldn't go back in May or April of 2020. I've been a patient for two years now, and the whole staff always treated me with the utmost kindness. Dr. Mack is wonderfully patient and always takes her time to find the right solution for you. When I changed birth control, I had the most terrible hormonal acne which is terribly emotional when balancing a career as a young woman in your 20s. Dr. Mack and her staff were there for me throughout this journey and helped me get to a place where I am on the right-fit medication and nearly acne-free. I went to GlamDerm for a yearly skincancer check. I saw the Physician Assistant who was friendly. The visit was very quick. My frustration is with their billing department. When I went they informed me they accepted my insurance. Then they billed me over a year and a half later saying I owed money because of a deductible. Since it had been well over a year I was not able to use to flex spending account. They tried to say because of covid but my appointment was well before covid hit. This is unacceptable for such a huge delay and the manner this was handled. I will not return or recommend. read more
