I've been here twice. My experience was more like 1 1/2 stars but I increased it because the full face LED mask is really incredible. The office is a little dingy and clearly has seen better days. The Asian lady was cold and seemed to be bothered by my existence on both occasions. My first visit I asked about a dermaplaning experience that I had done somewhere else that left me in pain and Dr. Gross's reaction increased my anxiety and basically increased how scared I was. On my second visit I was left waiting in the exam room 45 minutes after my appointment time and no one ever informed me what was going on at any point. I had to get home and told them that then. Eventually Dr. Gross came in. I got my Botox and fillers. The Botox went fine. The fillers were an experience I hadn't encountered before and this wasn't the first time I had them. I had questions but I don't think Dr. Gross wanted to help. For the next few weeks my face was burning. The office wanted me to come back so he could see what was wrong but there was and is no way I would go back. The LED face mask really did make a difference on some scars though. read more

Do not come to this practice for medical dermatology. I went to go see Dr. Reich to talk about acne and redness on the skin and both she and her medical assistant tried to push prescriptions and cosmetic solutions to address my skin problems multiple times. When I expressed resistance to prescriptions, the doctor questioned my education and ability to make decisions for myself. She also suggested I not wear sunblock which is dermatology 101 what not to recommend. After 30+ minutes of trying to convince me to take a prescription drug, she finally gave me recommendations and only recommended Dennis Gross products and La Roche Posey. Unfortunately, I wasted time and money on the visit, I definitely do not recommend! read more

Do not risk your health using their products. Something is suspicious with how this company either manufactures their products or conducts customer service (which is really one offshore guy named Jimmy). No expiration date is printed on the product and customer service refused to tell me the manufactured date of the product - every other skincare company either prints an expiration date on their products or discloses manufactured date based on the batch code so that customers know the products are within shelf life and safe to use - this is a consumer right that is subject to regulation in the U.S. read more

This practice refused to respond to insurance company's information request and instead imposed that obligation on the patient. The admin person or whatever compacity she is in - Lei Yun is rude and doesn't know how to do her job responding to insurance company. She wanted me (rudely imposed on me) to deliver whatever information to insurance company that was supposed to be delivered by her or her. No finer dermatologist then Dr. Dennis Gross. I'm not just saying it, I mean it. Dr. Gross has been my dermatologist for many, many, many years. He has diagnosed every little skin tag, mole, pimple - you name it, he's seen it and removed it to check and ensure it's nothing more then a skin tag, mole, or pimple. He knows his business. In addition to twice yearly checkups, he specializes in so much more - fillers, Botox, laser, body contouring. Plus he has his own skincare line which is fabulous. Now some of the treatments you get in his office can now be done at home. What more can you ask for? If you need a dermatologist, Dr. Gross is the man! read more

Dr. Gross is wonderful - he has an artistic eye, spends a lot time discussing and educating you, and is very conservative - he has told me "no" on certain things and is all about the "let's start here and see...." approach - conservative and gentle. I had been seeing him for cosmetic stuff and he recognized a skin cancer growth on my face, and referred me to a top Moh skin surgery specialist. I did not see Dennis Gross as he did not take my insurance and instead settled on the dr in the office that did, Amy Perlmutter. After waiting 25 minutes past my appt time to even be called to the next waiting room i was finally gretted by the dr. I had a mild/small issue on my chest and she stated it was KP which i had on my arms all my life. As much as i was wary as my arms had never looked/felt the way my chest was i took the prescription lotion and hoped for the best even though she only touched my skin once and didn't seem to really evaluate the problem. After 3 days of using the lotion on my arms and chest my chest exploded in itching fits and a severe rash, my arms completely fine. I called the dr immediately at 9am monday morning and did not get a call back, so i called again in the afternoon and was told i would not receive a response until the dr returned the next day. 4 pm the next day and no call, so i called and was told the dr has been too busy. Finally when i got a call back from the physicians asst after that, i was told my chest could have been more sensitive than my arms, which is understandable. I was told to use a eucerin lotion instead of the Lac Lotion. However, i asked if the symptoms i had could have been from something other than she suggested since the reaction has now made the area much worse, i was told: IF YOU HAVE ANY MORE QUESTIONS, YOU CAN MAKE ANOTHER APPT. i said no thanks i will not be returning. read more

Nice office, pleasant. Can't speak for the doctors on staff (though I'm sure they're great as well), as I see the physician's assistant, but I am satisfied with her--great bedside manner, and takes her time with you. ETA: Just went in today for my appt. and was informed by the receptionist (who was the same one who made my appt.) that it's for next Friday, when I specifically said "this Friday". No apology was offered, even after I restated that it was her fault. Bad customer service really turns me off, so the one star is for that, not the medical staff. read more

Do not go here if you are not white I experienced really bad racism from this office and when I asked to speak to the manager I was denied . On top of that they took photos of me without my consent . Number one I kept getting stared at up and down in 2019 in February I was waiting for to be seen. I paid 400 the doctor said ok u have acne I said ok when I Asked him how his products work on mixed skin no answer . The esthetician gave me products no direction . I used the products horrible reactions the next day the office was saying that I needed the money back to pay rent on top of that the chemical peel destroyed my skin so I wouldn't recommend here if you want a caring office non racist . Dr. Gross saved my face! It is almost entirely cleared of blemishes. Any discoloration or pigment anomalies that I had are quickly disappearing. Aside from that, Dr. Gross Is an extremely knowledgeable doctor. Upon giving him my medical history and medications, I was happily surprised with discourse that conveyed his awareness of my conditions and how they affect my skin. Money pushing business unfortunately. All they care about is selling products and you committing to their peels and lasers. A consultation is $350 that ONLY goes toward a same day treatment, which makes no sense at all. Dr Gross is focused on making money, not helping your skin. read more

I went there referred by one of his patients, getting for the first time Botox and fillers on my face. Awful experience. I went hoping to look younger, and I ended up looking like a monster!! I am really wondering if he knows what he is doing??? For $3,000.00 charge I expected something much better, an improvement, not a disfiguration! I can't raise my eyebrows and my eyelids are dropping, giving me a strange feeling and more strange look. He "stubbed" me with needles, extremely painful, pushed into my face very fast and leaving at the end bad marks under my eyes, showing even after a month. I went back twice due to my eye lids dropping, creating "hooded" eyes. He said that I had allergy to Botox, he injected more and the result is worst. I am afraid to look in the mirror. I recommend everybody to be cautious or stay away from this doctor. Bad experience and I need to live with this every day, hating myself! He is a Bucher! !! Stay away from him! read more

I saw Dr. Perlmutter and the visit itself was fine. However, I later received a "bill" saying I owed money with no explanation of the charge whatsoever. I have never in my life received a bill that didn't have any sort of details or explanation, so I wrote back and asked for a more detailed bill so I can understand exactly what I was paying. I got back a very nasty letter from them telling me I should know what I owe before I go to the doctor. I paid what their receptionist told me to pay!! And I was NOT refusing to pay, I simply wanted a more professional detailed bill (which I still haven't gotten). I can't believe the response, how terribly rude and unprofessional. I suggest they work on patient relation skills, as well as how to properly invoice for services. read more

I have never had any skin problems up until about 3 weeks ago, working long hours and stressed out...At the strong recommendation of a trusted friend, I went to see Dr. Perlmutter. Being as though she only keeps office hours 2 days and I called on a Thursday, I was a bit unhappy that I couldn't get in to see her until the following Tuesday. My skin was on fire, so I went and bought an over the counter $35 cream which helped the issue to subside over the weekend. When I arrived the next week, the receptionist was quick and friendly, I paid my $50 copay prior to seeing the Dr. Went back and only waited a few minutes until the Dr. came in. This was my first visit to a dermatologist, however that does not mean I have lack of common sense. She never even got within 5 feet of me the ENTIRE visit (which was all of 3 minutes) except to shake my hand. As I explained my issue to her, she never even so much as looked at my skin, just nodded her head within 10 seconds of my description and prescribed me a gel. Wow, I guess I had a classic case! She didn't even have to examine me! I was told that this was purely stress and I wouldn't have this happen again. Went and bought the $85 gel immediately and began using it. 3 days later, I am FAR WORSE than I was to begin with. I immediately call the office, and am told that the Dr wont be in until late the following week, but she is jam packed. I ask if there is anyone else that can see me since I was obviously either misdiagnosed, or I had a bad reaction to the medication. I was told that all the other Dr's were not in-network so I was not able to see them. I asked why that mattered since my Dr. was not available and this was an emergency situation caused by something that she had prescribed or not prescribed. I was told several more times I was impossible and if even if I was to come in to see my Dr. I would still be charged for the visit. Finally making some headway after I pleaded for some help here, the receptionist told me she would have the nurse call me to figure something out. That was last week, still no call. Still no resolution, skin problem is STILL here and still bothering me to no end. Time for a second opinion. I then pondered why my friend had such a good experience and realized she was going in for reoccurring cosmetic treatments. Ahhhh, that's it. Looks like they value the customers whom have committed to coming back over those who could potentially be just a one time visit. TERRIBLE. read more

Great practice/ knowledgeable staff / most beautiful location!

Been seeing Dr. Gross for many years, but after he came out with his popular skincare line, MDskincare, his practice seemed to go downhill for patients, uphill for him. About 15 years ago, I went to Dr. Gross to see what he could do with a sagging situation on my face from my nose and lips. He did something alright. He put many, many needles of something into my face and he dug so deep, that I still have the lines from what he did, of course, they are worse now. I don't really think he knew what he was doing, or certainly didn't care. He was looking at himself in the mirror the whole time. Maybe it's best that he's not doing procedures now, because he was clumsy and scary when he worked on me. Also much too expensive. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Gross for over 7 years and have sent all my friends and colleagues to him. He is the best doctor I have met in NYC, and I have "European standards" when it comes to time allocated during visits, diligence and a sincere medical approach, not just an economical one. No matter whether it has been cosmetic or medical, he has been simply amazing, caring, professional and kind. Yes - there is a cost involved, but unlike many other doctors of his reputation, he does not recommend pricey procedures if not necessary. I could not endorse him more strongly - he has helped one of my good friends to get rid of her severe adult acne before her wedding, he has treated allergic reactions of my sister, and has at all times been accessible if urgent advice or treatment was needed. I personally do not use his skin care line and he has never tried to "sell it" - but my friends in Europe actually do and they love it! read more

3 Dreaded words: Adult onset acne. Just as annoying as it sounds, I though I said goodbye to that phase along with feathered hair and jellies. Dr. Gross (yes, just as ironic as Dr, Payne, the orthodontist) is a kindly gent with satin skin and those eerie doctor magnifying goggles. Under his bright light and austere exam room you're reassured that dermatology is an aspect of medicine, not vanity. Some quick zaps and a prescription later I thought I was all set. Alas 2 years later what I thought were acne scars are actually melasma, one of those pesky side effects of some medications. My acid peel wasn't nearly as painful as Pam's 'medical facial' and I eagerly await the results that could take months to see. Whatever. Please please please wear sunscreen people. If this all sounds Wes Craven, tiz, but pricier. And thus I segue into his product offerings. He had just come out with his line the first time I was there and it has made it all the way to Sephora. Thank goodness cause when those TSA assholes at airport security stole mine I could still get it in SF. The stuff really works, and fast. I use the soap plus toner daily and those silly one two pads as well. And their spot treatment fries zits Mars Attacks style. Don't cry about how much that all costs you until you leave the office. Perhaps it will pay for the second printing of his book, "Your Future Face". read more

He was not pushy but rather offered a variety of solutions to address my skin. I left with a quick pro-peel and it was amazing. Fast, easy and my skin looked perfect for a few weeks. I would go back. I arrived right on time for my appointment with Dr. Gross. The waiting area was huge and empty. I waited, and waited. And then I waited some more. At no point did anyone else ever arrive in the giant reception area while I was waiting. I cooled my heels for over an hour and then gave up waiting. I told the receptionist that I could not wait any longer and left. Gee, I wonder why there wasn't anyone waiting in the giant, empty reception area? Maybe because they got similar treatment? There are many great dermatologists in Manhattan who will respect your time. I just found one and will go to her instead of Dr. Gross. read more

I've been going to Dr. Gross for years, for cosmetic purposes. After years of snake oil and Ajax-like treatments, he cured my acne. And after, gave me skin on which people actually compliment me. When I'm LA for months at a time, I rely on his alpha/beta peels packets to keep my skin in check. But what really impresses me enough to write a review is the fact that, despite his write-ups in CelebWeeklyInStyle or whatever, he still remains a real doctor. I had an awful allergic reaction a few days ago. My face looked like Hellboy, but twice the size. The physician's assistant at Dr. Gross's office (short notice; couldn't get an appointment with Dr. Gross) prescribed me a topical steroid that, after applying later that night, I read up about online, panicked and then left a frantic message at Dr. Gross's office. Dr. Gross called me the next afternoon to assure me that the medication prescribed was appropriate and safe for me. Like I said, I've been going to him for years and always thought he was a great doctor but it's now confirmed. I've had BREAST biopsies that the doctor didn't take the time to call about. Sadly, he left me with a small scar (after promising that he would not need to cut deeply and that it would not scar) removing a small growth that could have continued to be frozen off (as it had been by other docs). I normally don't write reviews but wish I could give this place a zero. I found Dr. Dennis Gross online and use his products. He is well known for his product line and the visit was supposed to be a pleasant one. Instead it was a strange and disturbing experience. The office is well designed, has a great concept, looks clean and there is a little shop attached. Seems to be all about Dr. Gross. It was very busy and getting a little too crowded. Maybe it was just that one day or time of the day however the doctor was running very late. It is fair to say that can be frustrating for both the patients and the employees. Some of the patients did not look happy. I overheard the brunette receptionist being abrupt with someone on the phone, she kept rolling her eyes and slammed the phone afterwards. I waited for almost 45 minutes. Then her and her co-worker proceeded to gossip about a patient that came in and speaking about her to another patient that was checking out. I could not believe it, there goes your privacy. For a fancy office I expect mature behavior and better decorum. Dr. Gross is supposed to be one of the top doctors in New York and although he does appear to be very knowledgeable, he lacks social skills. Once I was finally seen, he apologized for being late. He kept looking at himself in the mirror, that was very strange. My visit with him and quick and rushed. The whole thing made me uncomfortable. I decided to have a consultation only and not come back. New York has so many options. Maybe take focus off of building your empire and get it together in the office. read more

Dr. Hillary Reich saved my skin! She's the first competent dermatologist I've had in decades that hasn't overprescribed me on countless topical medications and cremes. I think Dennis Gross' staff need to think more about treating patients than selling to them. I went to see Dr. Amy Perlmutter. I'M NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN. I have mild acne that started up recently. She right away suggested that i use the Beta Pads that are sold in the clinic. I told her i used them before and they don't work on me. She then retorted.. and i mean retorted back that they do work but you also have to buy other products they offer. I said that i don't want to use products that are not natural, and she then crosses her arms and says, 'WELL THEN I CAN'T HELP YOU.' I had to convince her that i was ok with prescriptions, but didnt want to buy unnatural over the counter products. She then goes on about how i should use a gentle cleanser 'untill we start you off on our other products'. wow. seriously? and then she says "i tend to see my patients once every month"... um yes of course, so you can milk us dry. apart from the fact that she sounds like a snotty hamptons 20 year old, she's obnoxious, and puts more of her effort of selling than actually treating. her prescriptions were preprinted (they actually only seem to give out a few specific prescriptions for acne - pre printed on a multiple choice sheet) - probably because they get commission from it. Her solution to acne? INJECTIONS. THAT'S ALL THEY DO. SO UNBELIEVABLY DISAPPOINTING! DON'T GO. read more
