Disappointed and Discouraged by Care Denial…read more I wish my experience had been anything but disappointing. I scheduled an appointment seeking compassionate guidance for a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean). To my surprise--and dismay--Dr. Michael D. Kelly and his nurse practitioner denied me service without even reviewing my medical history. My last C-section was six years ago, yet instead of taking the time to listen, Dr. Kelly dismissed my request outright. As a patient, I expect at least a thoughtful conversation. Instead, I felt rushed, unheard, and judged--like I was being penalized for asserting what I believe to be a reasonable birth plan. The nurse practitioner's bedside manner only deepened my frustration; their off-putting demeanor made an already stressful moment feel untenable. At the very least, I hoped for professionalism and empathy. What I encountered felt the opposite. Seeking a respectful discussion about VBAC shouldn't result in denial of care--but here, it did. Once inside there is a nice lobby area with a reception counter. I was promptly greeted and registered. I was seeing the doctor within 15 minutes! This is amazing! Dr. Roche entered with great energy and rapport. He listed to my concerns and began assessing the issue. Some testing he did in office, others he gave me orders to do the next day. He also set the expectation of when he would follow up with me for results. I didn't feel rushed, or that he wasn't taking me seriously. It isn't a fancy office, but it's clean and neat, and only a small wait. This is a plus in my book! Note: The handicap ramp is to the right. A little distance from the door. I…read morewish I could transport him into a best in class office environment with: 1) Professional and attentive front desk staff - they are waaaaayyyy too casual and can't be bothered. 2) more automated processes - on-line appointment setting, etc. 3) a PORTAL where you can access your test results, send notes to the staff, etc. (they still mail out test results, sometimes...a lot of time you don't hear from them at all) 4) An email box that is monitored -- i have gone weeks/months without them answering the email The front desk staff leaves a lot to be desired. I think they are used to dealing with an older clientele with "old school" processes (phone calls and fax machines) and perhaps Dr. Esantsi is headed to retirement so it's not worth making the effort, but if he intends to work for the next 2-10 years, he really needs to change his staffing and get to a more state of the art office with more on-line capability. I think the reason they never answer the phone is because they are on the phone all day just setting up appointments. That can be done on-line with Calendly. It's frustrating because i really want to keep seeing this doctor but i dread ever having to set up an appointment or go there because their processes are stuck in the 1980s.

Additional Update 4/17/26: I had an echocardiogram scheduled today and arrived 10 minutes early…read more Despite that, I waited an additional 20 minutes past my appointment time. I also asked multiple times about the cost of the visit, and no one was able to provide a clear answer. At that point, I decided to leave, I'm not going to wait close to an hour for a practice that doesn't prioritize patient care or communication. To make matters worse, I am still waiting on my lab results. They confirmed the results were received on the 8th, yet I have not received any follow-up or evaluation. Overall, the experience felt disorganized, and I would recommend considering another provider. Previous Update: I previously left a review for New Wave Physicians Group and, unfortunately, I'm updating it again out of frustration. In my original review, I mentioned that my experiences with Dr. Carder and Dr. Troung were positive, they were both professional, attentive, and helpful during my visits. However, I also noted ongoing issues with the front office staff, and those problems have only gotten worse. It is extremely difficult to reach anyone by phone. Calls often go unanswered, and when someone does pick up, it feels like a rare occurrence. I've had to call repeatedly at different times of the day just to speak with someone, and on multiple occasions I've been placed on hold and then disconnected. More concerning is what happened after my most recent appointment with Dr. Carder. I went in for serious symptoms, had an EKG performed, and completed lab work. I specifically asked how I would receive my results and what the next steps would be regarding treatment or medication. I was told I would receive a phone call, but that never happened. After calling over 50 times, I finally reached someone who informed me that my results had been available for quite some time but had not even been reviewed. I also followed up on a sleep study that was discussed during my visit, only to find out it had not been submitted. The medications I was told would be prescribed were never sent to the pharmacy either. On top of all of this, I still don't have access to the patient portal. Despite multiple attempts to get assistance from the office staff, no one has been able to help me get it set up. These issues have been ongoing and are now affecting my ability to receive timely care. At this point, I feel like I've given this office more than enough chances and will likely be looking for a new provider.

The office manager Cheryl was great and made scheduling an appointment a breeze. The office waiting area was great and even had a play area for my 4 year old son, and Dr. Phan was great and I felt really listened to my concerns. My only complaint was that they were so busy I had to wait 30 minutes past my appointment time to see the doctor. Overall, though , great experience highly recommend!
