I allowed Dr. Harvey Jacobs to convince me that I needed foot surgery in 2002. I was 20 something…read moreand it was my first surgery. I had bunions on each foot and he suggested not only the bunionectomy but that my second toe (which was PERFECT) should be operated on also. He said that when we straightened the big toe it would make the second toe sit straight up so he would fuse that toe to make it stay straight. I didn't understand what this meant and clearly didn't have the good sense to ask more questions. What percentage chance of this happening, what will it look like after etc. He completes the surgeries back to back. The pain was unimaginable. After the left foot was completed I told him do NOT fuse the toe on the right foot, I will take my chances with the toe standing up. Two weeks after the second foot was completed I went to his office in terrible pain asking if this was normal. He went to examine my foot and I told him I was in a lot of pain but had taken my codeine. His response? "Don't worry, I've taken my codeine too". The examination revealed that his surgery was done improperly, toe was out of place and yet another surgery needed. This was the point that I limped away and had another podiatrist surgeon take over but it was too late. That doctor and several others I saw in the coming years advised me that they had NEVER seen an outcome that bad. They tsk tsk and shake their heads when they see how Dr. Harvey Jacobs mutilated my feet. The second toe which needed no treatment looks like it belongs on Frankenstein. I assumed the incision would not be on top of my toe based upon how he explained it but it was. This tragic unnecessary surgery changed the whole trajectory of my life. I was heading to business school months following the surgeries but because of Dr Jacob's incompetence my recovery time was excessively long which hindered my ability to participate in the school experience. I have to choose every shoe super carefully to cover my hideous scars and support the handicapped nature of my feet. Now I have to purchase shoes a size larger and let me tell you it is so much harder to find size 11´s than 10´s. I'm absolutely disgusted that this man is still in business after how he mishandled me, admitting to drug usage and ruining my only set of feet. All the kings horses and all the kings men have said I have a life sentence with these feet. They look horrible and I was trying to do something to improve myself and due to my choice of doctors I now have a lifelong handicap. Friends who have never seen me in open shoes look with horror and ask me in an alarmed voice "what happened!" Even though it was 20 years ago the mutilation still looks fresh. I wish there had been google reviews when I made this life altering decision to allow Dr. Jacobs to mutilate me. Hopefully this review can save someone else from making the mistake I made.

This past week, after having been to the ER after a accident and still having pain, it was Dr. Jacobs who asked me if he could take x-rays again, even though the ER had given me an all-clear on their films. He found - and I saw - the fracture. I am so grateful to him and I highly recommend him.

Hi- I'm new to foot/ankle injuries. Dr. Patel and Dr. Suh helped me understand my first injury; it…read morewas a grade 2 ankle injury sprain. They were very courteous. I was able to talk with each of them for about 5-10 minutes per appointment. They seemed to be in a rush. I went to them for a second opinion, and they answered my questions and confirmed my self diagnosis. :::Appointment Experience::: My appointments lasted for about 30-40 minutes. Most of the time was spent with nurses. They were courteous and knowledgeable enough to answer most of my health questions, but I did not like the fact they had no straightforward answers for my financial/cost inquiries. They kept providing services, saying "we'll need to do this...we'll need to do that...", and whenever I asked how much something would cost they would say, "we'll know after it comes back from the billing department first". After confirming my self diagnosis was accurate, I decided to cancel the 3rd, 4th, and 5th scheduled appointments and check-ups. :::Expenses::: Below, I list my expenses: 1. Appointments with Dr. Patel --- $206.00 (two appointments, Day 1 and Day 2, four days apart) 2. 3 X-ray Ankle views --- $110.00 3. 3 X-ray Foot views --- $110.00 (this was unnecessary because Dr. Patel said it was an ankle issue, but the nurse went ahead and did it anyway) 4. Casting Short Leg Walker --- $464.00 (unnecessary considering severity of the injury and it was only used for 4 days) 5. Appointment with Dr. Suh --- $135.00 (Day 2, repeated information provided by Dr. Patel on Day 1, no new information) 6. Walker Brace Aircast --- $215.00 (this is $60 sold on Amazon, the nurse said she did not know how much it would cost and she did not clarify that I had purchased it. She said "you'll need to wear it temporarily", and when I asked when I need to return it she said, "when you're done". :::Payment::: I have delayed my bill payment for over a year. I called the office/insurance company about 3-4 times to see what expenses I could remove. I was able to remove expense #3 in result, but nothing else. I'm making my payment now (a year later). About 19% of the total charges was covered by my insurance. In total I paid about $915.40 for my two appointments. :::Summary::: During my appointments, I felt the nurses and doctors did not communicate well with each other. Either that is the case, or they purposefully added inessential services to increase the amount of money they can charge, (from me and from my insurance company), which would be a shame. I wouldn't not recommend these Podiatrists, but I do encourage new patients to ask questions and be 100% sure what they will be paying for before accepting any service in the building. This will ensure patients will have a fair treatment as well as get a quality start in their recovery journey.

My husband was seriously ill, a dialysis patient and a diabetic. Dr. Henderson was well aware of this. The second time he came he also worked on a callus on my husband's toe, causing it to fall off completely leaving a very large open wound on the bottom of his foot. When brought to Dr Henderson's attention all he could say is he "didn't know how it happened". My husband then had to visit the hospital's wound center twice a week, have two surgeries to clean out the infection and suffer significant pain. I cannot explain in this forum how much damage Dr Henderson's negligence caused my husband. I contacted a malpractice attorney, explain the entire situation to him and asked if he thought I had a case. After listening to everything I had to say the lawyer said he absolutely believes Dr. Henderson's negligence contributed to the death of my husband at age 56. He also told me it would be a very long and painful process to prove this in court. After speaking with my son's we decided not to take the case to court and relive the pain over and over. I believe it is my duty to tell anyone who was considering going to Dr. Henderson that not only did he contribute to the early death of my husband, but that when he goes on home visits he uses the same metal tools over and over only cleaning them with rubbing alcohol between setting different patience.

I got a second opinion from another very accomplished orthopedic surgeon who had an MRI done and the second surgeon said was NO reason for me to wear a brace. Dr. Shah billed my insurance more than seven hundred dollars for the ankle brace and required me to pay the coinsurance ON TOP of what my insurance covered. I was told he needed to "break even" on the brace, even though I asked him to waive the coinsurance as a compromise given that I did not need it. Lesson learned: ask how much something is before you accept it at any doctor's office I didn't get the orthodics, which would have been roughly $1000 OUT OF POCKET had I ordered them Also his regular office staff (not billing) is wildly unhelpful and unknowledgable. If you call on certain days they flat out won't help you and tell you to call back another day. In case it was unclear, I will never go back and would not recommend him.
