We are visiting Palermo for the first time and came across this restaurant last night, 5/8/17, for dinner. It was not very busy so we were happy to be able to get a seat right away.
It has a casual ambience and it seemed like a fun place to eat, however, it turned out to be a NIGHTMARE!! We were seated not far from the front door and kind of in a corner yet towards the center of the room. Being from California, and having been to Italy twice before, we are familiar with the language and can communicate okay but my stepfather does speak Italian so he has been able to help when needed. This has normally come in handy except for last night. The server who sat us was a guy, with a tattoo, who seemed to have an attitude right away. We asked questions about the menu and he seemed put out trying to explain what we were trying to find out. As we were waiting for our drinks, a large party came in and all of a sudden that server was nowhere to be seen.
Eventually, another male server, he had glasses and a beard came over to take our order. He was pleasant enough and didn't have an attitude. Once we had ordered, we realized that there were two young ladies just standing around, basically doing nothing but staring at us as we were waiting. It was quite uncomfortable and honestly, quite weird. You would figure they would have them actually working or waiting elsewhere as to not creep out their guests?
When our food came out, the server with the attitude brought out my stepfathers first and it was wrong but he was walking by to set it down, he drops some hot pieces of steak on my arm. It startled me so I jumped and said "ow" but he didn't even notice as my stepfather told him that the order was wrong and he seemed to develop even more of an attitude. Not one single person, including those two girls who were doing nothing, approached us to see if I was okay or if my jacket was ruined. I had tried to use water and a BLACK paper napkin to get get the grease stains out of my jacket then tried to ask someone if they had soda water.
No one seemed to know what I was talking about so I kept trying to use regular water and the black napkin (which left black streaks on the jacket). All of a sudden, some other server, a guy, shows up at our table, makes the scrubbing motion and says"No! NO!" and goes away. It was the weirdest thing and again, no one addressed the issue or apologized!
When we left, we were happy to get out of there and we made sure to take the card they gave us because we knew that I would be writing a Yelp Review! I would say that while the food is actually good, I would not waste my time going on there, EVER! It is so not fun to spend your second night in Palermo surrounded by bad vibes!! read more
