This is my favorite place to eat in the county. Always a good experience. A little dark but the food makes up for it. Try the crab cakes.

Old school Italian restaurant that really could use some updates. The waitress was very green and I would not be surprised if we were her first table ever. She took 10 minutes to bring our drinks and we only ordered water and ice tea. She couldn't remember who ordered what. There were four of us. She brought the salads out and nearly dumped them on the floor. Smallest salad I've ever had. Again, she couldn't remember who ordered what. I asked for a drink refill and she said "Do what". Our food came out (do I need to say, she couldn't recall who ordered what?) and was actually very good. No offer of more bread. We finally get the bill and the waitress grabs two of our drinks and runs off. Both glasses were half full. Very strange behavior. More training would certainly help this young waitress. I made a reservation for this restaurant as soon as the books opened (January 2nd) for valentine's day. I had heard so many amazing things about this place. That the food was amazing, the ambience was great, friendly waitstaff. First of all, we came in 30 minutes early for our 7pm reservation. We went inside and asked if they had our table ready, which they didn't (which is perfectly fine understanding it is valentine's day and it is quite early for our reservation). Our waiter said she would come and find us when our table was ready. With nowhere to sit inside, we waited outside on a bench. About 15 minutes before 7 it started pouring rain. The outside deck is covered, but it was so windy and raining so hard it was blowing on us too. We waited for a while hoping she would come and find us for our table. Nothing. 7pm rolls around and we go inside to check up on it. She finally leads us to our table and it's wet (indoor table). She has to wipe it down and then gives us our menus. Our waiter seemed scared of us?? She rarely came to check on us, only when necessary. Staff was walking around so quickly they were brushing us as they walked by, and even blew out the candle on our table. The lights were flickering all night long. The table next to us were asked to leave since they "needed more tables". Salad came out, 50% of it was onions. Also the smallest salad i'd ever seen. And then my meal came out. about 5 minutes before my boyfriend's meal did. i included a photo of it. i ordered the garlic and shrimp stuffed ravioli in alfredo sauce. Tell me why there was FIVE raviolis. FIVE!!!! That's 10 bites of food minimum. And it didn't even taste that good!!! And that 10 bites of food was $25?? Are we being so for real right now???? I came to that restaurant expecting to have leftovers for the next day and instead left hungry. read more

Giovanni's has been our go-to for many years for special occasions. We celebrated our 39th anniversary there yesterday and were terribly disappointed. The service was good but we were seated next to a party of 20 with kids running everywhere. Impossible to even attempt a conversation over our meal. The spaghetti was bland and almost tasteless. The restaurant was extremely cold with the air conditioning running full blast like a deep freeze. Not sure, after many years, whether we will return in the future. read more

We came in late Wednesday night to celebrate our anniversary and we had Ashley as our server. She was great! We felt terrible for coming around closing time but we never felt rushed or like she didn't want to be there. I worked in the service industry for 8 years and I myself hated when people did that. So thank you Ashely for being so graceful! It was our first time there too, so it was an amazing first impression! 10/10 read more

This restaurant has been a staple in the area for many years. I have only been there a few times now and all three times it's because one of my good friends growing up loves to eat there and when we make the time to meet up for dinner this is his go to place. we met up with another friend and had dinner there again recently. The restaurant is always busy and when you have a large party recommendation is to call ahead and make a reservation we did that and got seated on the patio. They had a huge party inside, and I think that slowed the service down this particular evening, as we waited a while to be waited on and for refills on drinks, we did order an appetizer of mozzarella cheese. It's lightly breaded and I assume deep fried square of cheese that you cut and dip into the marinara. It was good. I don't eat pasta much these days and as far as I can tell everything on the menu came with pasta even the what was described on the menu as ribeye steak that I ordered, the steak was very thin and just OK as far as flavor. I did try a bite of the pasta but I didn't like it. Let's just say the fellowship was much better than the food. I would probably go back and try something different next time because I know the food I've had them before I've really enjoyed, but I can't give anything more than three stars for this particular trip because of the service and the food was just mediocre at best. read more

They're is a lot I like about this place. The outdoor seating in the back was Beautiful and Romantic. Surprisedly We were the only ones back there on a nice day. The Calamari was bland and could have used seasoning. I ordered the lobster Ravioli Special. It was Delicious with chucks of real Lobster. For $28 for 5 Ravioli's it better be. The hubby really liked his Shrimp Alfredo. The pasta seemed fresh and not over-cooked like most places. They should have brought our meals out together but they were a few minutes apart. Moved to this area 3 years ago and have been told several times that this place is all that. We finally made it and I have to say, it is all that! High end Italian food! This place never disappoints. They have a very large menu with a lot of seafood options. Portions are huge. The staff are always so kind and familiar with the menu. Food comes out quick. The restaurant itself is a bit dated and small but don't let that keep you from coming to eat. Always impressed and satisfied when I leave. We had another excellent experience here last night. I am so glad they are back to doing incredible food at reasonable prices. Our waitress provided just right service. It is always hard to choose with so many delicious options but we went with the Jersey Turnpike pizza and it was a gooey, crispy delicious flavor bomb. Also shared the Capo Campanchana as an app and it was filled with shrimp, crab and avocado. Their blue cheese dressing is the best. You really can't go wrong here. I also love that you can get a half carafe (= 4 small glasses) of their house Chardonnay (quite good) for 12.50. Unheard of and a welcome treat. read more

Don't eat at Giovanni's. My wife and I have dined there at least 40 times since it originally opened and it was our favorite place to dine in Brazoria County. Unfortunately, it changed hands. Initially, you would have no clue as they did not miss a beat in reproducing the same quality, presentation and ambiance. At our most recent visit, we had an out of body experience. The bread had changed from amazing to nasty, as did the soup, appetizer artichoke hearts and every entree ordered. Normally, I would write it off to a new cook, but this amount of change was clearly not a one time issue. The only conclusion that I can make is that their profit margin was squeezed and rather than upping prices, they changed quantities and quality ingredients. I use to love this place, but was very disappointed tonight. Haven't been in a long while and was excited about going there for dinner, but it isn't the same. I will say the bread is still amazing! The calamari was not like I remember. It was overcooked-very chewy and really small pieces. My spicy lasagna came out and it was good, but not even warm. The cheese wasn't melted at all and I had to use a knife to cut it! So disappointing. My boyfriend's filet was not cooked medium, it was raw in the center and then his lobster tail was over cooked so badly that the meat was stuck to it and wouldn't come out. Overall, it was just sad because we use to love this place. Needless to say, after spending over $100 for our meal that was less than....we won't be going back. read more
