Since my last review was over a decade ago, probably time for an update. I don't come to Ginnie as often as other area springs but it's worth a visit now and then--on weekday mornings ideally if you want to freedive, swim, and miss the crowds of the weekend. It's a good camping destination, too. For me, the main draw however is freediving and there's plenty here to see. You cannot and should not by any means enter caves as a freediver--it's forbidden and even for highly-experienced freedivers, dangerous. If we freedivers don't want to wear out our proverbial welcome, yes, we need to behave. Cave-certified SCUBA divers are the only ones to enter caves. I want to address some things which came up between my own observations and what I've read in other reviews here. For one, the food. This isn't a good place to get good food. If you want something nice, get it "in town" in High Springs or bring something to cook if camping. For that matter, bring your snacks and gear because expectedly things are a bit overpriced at the merch store here. If you don't what the place to be loud, busy, and long lines then don't come on weekends and holidays. It's that simple. This is a business and they'll let in as many people as they safely can let in. As far as loud music and uneven enforcement of rules, I think this just comes down to different employees acting their own way. Most summer help is students, they're not going to have the discernment and acumen of a veteran police officer in dealing with people. Most are nice, some are lax, some overzealous. About the bath houses and other facilities. I think things are in pretty good shape--on par with bath houses at campgrounds in the Ocala National Forest, in example. Nothing was horribly dirty any time I was there but folks--this is camping. Remember that. I don't see the need for tram or shuttle, either. Maybe for disabled or infirm folks but most of us can simply walk between springs and should. Overall I feel Ginnie is well-run for what it is, with your normal business caveats like they'll charge what they can get away with in their store which is exactly why you want to buy stuff at Walmart or whatever prior to coming here. It's a great place to camp and unique, beautiful, springs you'll remember your entire lifetime. read more

Ginnie springs is an amazing private property camping spot for trails, swimming in the springs and a great weekend camping. Highly recommend not coming on the holidays. You get this mix of ghetto hick thugs speeding through the park flashing whatever bs they think is cool. They are trying to crack down but the park is big and there's always someone has to ruin it for visitors. Great spot on week days. I'm going to start with saying that the behavior of staff at in Ginnie Spring is disgusting they work as an Organized organization (GANG) this situation started because my son and his girlfriend were walking towards the woman's bathroom and one of the staff was closing the door to clean the bathroom. My son grabbed the door to ask if his girlfriend can use the bathroom really quick because she had to use the bathroom really bad. So a staff member walked up really aggressively and stated to my son "you can't do that here" and called through his radio for over 10 staff members to show up and antagonize my son trying to fight him they were saying racial slurs and being so disrespectful! By this time my son starts walking towards our campsite and the entire staff keeps following the son and his girlfriend saying really nasty things to the point that girlfriend felt fear. ITS EXTREMELY DISGUSTING FOR A STAFF MEMBER TO LOOK MY SON DEAD IN HIS FACE TELLING HIM THIS IS HIS FAVORITE PART OF HIS JOB. So now they get to the site and staff is being belligerent and aggressive not caring that we were with an elder 78 woman that went into panic mode and a 1 year old, 6 year old and a 10 year old that also went on panic mode. I got there around 10 AM on a Saturday. Parking for a day visit was easy and there were plenty of open spaces when I left. It was busy but it did not feel overwhelming or overcrowded. There wasn't much interaction with staff so it's mostly other customers who make up the atmosphere of your visit. Overall I enjoyed my visit and would return. The water is cold and stays cold; it's not like the pool or beach where it eventually feels warm. It continues to feel cold but you just accept it the longer you're there lol. I rented a tube and life jacket. Life jackets are free but you have to "buy" them through their system (your total will be $0) like everything else. They track your rentals so you have to give your name when you return things to make sure you are not charged for keeping a rental. The downside of tubing is the long walk to the beginning and there's no simple way to stop if you want to stop early. The water wasn't flowing as much at one point which caused me to just stop in the middle. I recommend renting/bringing paddles even for tubing so you can better control your journey and make sure you tie yourself to the people that you are with. They have a changing stalls & a real bathroom (not just porta potties that you see in the parking lot), but it's down the hill after the big Ginnie Springs sign. read more

I want to share the very poor experience we had with the service at the Rentals store, From the beginning, the staff was unprofessional: they wouldn't look at us when we spoke to them, and on several occasions, they left us talking to ourselves. When they gave us the key to access the kayaks, they did not provide complete instructions. Because of this, when we arrived at the location, we couldn't use them and had to go back. When we returned to ask for help, they simply said, "we already gave you the keys," without making any effort to check the situation. What was most frustrating is that, after asking multiple times because we clearly did not have the key, they ignored us until we requested a refund. That was the only moment they actually paid attention. In the end, they realized the key was on the floor and had never been properly handed to us. We understand that there are situations where staff can be busy and it can be difficult to handle everything at once. However, at the time of our visit, the place was not particularly crowded, which made the lack of attention even umore frustrating. When we returned the equipment, we received the same level of poor service. They were supposed to provide a copy of the receipt for the kayak rental, but the employee handed us the paper while literally facing away from us, turned with her back toward us and speaking to one of her coworkers at the same time. This happened yesterday, on May 3 and unfortunately we ended up wasting a significant amount of time due to their lack of organization and basic customer service. We came to Ginnie Springs and had a great time. We had no issues with parking and renting the tubes. Finding the entrance to the spring took a little bit of a guessing game as we were not sure if we were heading to the camping grounds or the spring. Once in the spring, it was amazing. The water temperature was just perfect. The only thing is that the exit was a bit more complicated than I had anticipated due to the stream speed. I knew we couldn't miss the exit and I thought we were going to. The exit warning signs should have been clearer indicating on what side of the spring it would be so we could have better prepared for it. Nonetheless, the spring was relaxing. On the way back, it was easier to identify where to return the tube with the signs that indicated 'tube trail'. We had no issues returning the tube or leaving the establishment. What a beautiful experience and even more beautiful day. Lots of activities for the family from camping to swimming to just plain doing nothing. Each spring offer views for all to enjoy with plenty of picnic table seating. The most visited springs are Ginnie and devil's eye. You can stay all day if you plan properly and prepare we spent about four hours here and they went by pretty fast, just exploring nature. Love to see places like this still exist in its natural habitat and I would recommend for families couples or just a quick getaway trip in nature. read more

This is a review for the camping. For years, we have come with our fully contained camping van and parked at one of the lovely spots where we could easily launch our kayaks or paddle boards. The rules have recently changed where you're only allowed to have a camping van in the water and electric campsites, which are overgrown and full of bugs. So not only can you have no view of the water while you're camping, you have to lug your paddleboard a quarter mile just to put it in the water because you're not even allowed to have your camping van anywhere else on the property. They have made it so difficult to enjoy (along with raising prices) that we will not be back. read more

We came here on a Thursday afternoon March 28, 2023 It usually cost $15 per person but they said we could get a guest pass cuz we just wanted to look around. This place is beautiful. Three to four different Springs to hang out at. Lots and lots of camping sites mostly tent sites no electricity. Today there wasn't very much people but the lady who picks up the trash should it's going to be a madhouse on the weekend. This place is privately owned so it pretty much let as many people in as they want. I've always heard about Ginnie Springs. I'm glad I got to see it today and it's beauty nice and quiet and just a few people swimming around It was so beautiful. On the weekends it's $15 per person to get in or $25 a night per person if you want a camp. read more

I visited Ginnie Springs this past Saturday (4/5) to celebrate my 26th birthday, and it was such a great experience! It was a bit crowded, but nothing overwhelming. We arrived around 10:15 AM, and while the car line moved quickly, the line to check in was pretty long. I was a little disappointed that buying tickets online didn't help speed up the process, but once we got in, everything was smooth sailing. This was my first time tubing and it was so much fun--I'm already looking forward to going back! The spring water was absolutely beautiful and crystal clear, and the staff and other guests were super friendly and helpful. We grilled under one of the pavilions (we brought our own grill, which I would recommend if you can) and just had a great time relaxing and enjoying nature. It's first come first serve, staff are rude and don't answer questions and it's expensive. For the price you pay, it should be clean but the bathhouses are in disrepair and disgusting. We have a group of about 50 so we camp at lower beaver. This time, everyone got sick and it wasn't from the food, we didnt get into the river, just the spring. Loud Spanish music and the staff won't help but if you do something minor, they are all over you. People tube down the river and people just throw their garbage right into the river. The staff go around and pickup their garbage bags but won't clean the camping areas. There are more drugs there than on the Southside of town and it's supposed to be family friendly. People being rude, disrespectful and lewd. The staff sucks and this place needs to be sold off to someone that cares. $40.00 a night if you camp per person. read more

Ginnie Springs is a terrible place I would not recommend this to anyone. Should have 0 stars staff do not care about safety, customer service, or cleanliness. They make up whatever they want to charge you because as they made clear it's private property. They charged me $30 for camping when the sign said $20 I said I was not camping I just came to the spring. Staff do not explain or warn you that if you go the wrong way down the river you will be trapped over the rapids. A very kind Florida resource officer had to rescue me and bring me back to the spring. He drove me in and asked if a staff member could drive me to my car. They said no. The next day I came back to attempt to see the spring and since they had charged me for camping and said the pass would be good until 6:00 the next day. Staff were extremely rude and accused us of trespassing. I told them how disappointed I was in their service and how they should really care about their customers safety. I am three months pregnant and had the resource officer not come who knows what would have happened as it was getting dark. Staff just kept threatening you can pay or leave. They do not care. At the spring there was extremely loud music, drugs, and trash everywhere. read more

Had the opportunity to visit Ginnie Springs for four days of wonderful Cave diving. The location was fantastic. Everything diver would need. The set up locations were great. There are benches to put your tanks and assemble your gear. The stairs to get into. The springs were very sturdy with nonslip material on each stair. To top it off the restrooms were top-notch. It was great taking a warm shower after a long dive. I can't wait to go back. read more

We came to tube and camp, but that being said I would have give it 5 stars but the noise from the generators that run all day and night and the loud music is very annoying. Just wish the staff would make the rules that generators don't need to run all day, especially when nobody's even at their campsites. Still coming here every year... My wife and friend's campsite of choice. On our last camping trip the fee came out to $40 per adult per night. Yikes. They've made lots of renovations to the "welcome center". It's more organized although I miss the chaos, probably because I knew where to go to check-in quicker. Fill out the waiver in advance, download the map ahead of time, or just check out their website if you have never visited this place. Just to speed up the check-in. It was less crowded and security was heightened. Less party vibes. It could be because the weather forecast called for rain all week/weekend. Woke up at 3am and it was the quietest I've ever heard this place in the 10+ years we have been coming. Just nature and the sound of a couple vehicles that passed. No partying, music, or generators. Definitely weird. They're quite serious about the changes that are being made. Rarely use the bathhouses anymore since we have the necessity at our campsite now. I can say it hasn't been renovated over the years. Not sure how well it's kept stocked. Overall we had a good time, as usual. My wife, luckily, said we're going to scale back the amount of times we go now because the fee per night is very high. read more

Went with friends to tube and swim. Tube rental was $10, which is pretty standard, but once we got in the water an unpatched hole in the inside of the tube was exasperated and the tube quickly sank. I gave my friend my tube and swam for twenty minutes until the next exit, where we took the deflated tube back and were immediately charged $25 (double and a half the rental fee) even after explaining that it started leaking literally five minutes after getting in the water and we had done nothing to warrant a tear that size, and that it was already in bad shape with multiple patches from prior tears. We took our new tube and got back in the water to try to still get the most out of the trip before it rained. After completing the course, we went back up and tried to speak to a manager about it, since the fee seemed excessive and unfair. The manager basically told us it was our responsibility as soon as it was in our possession and that we were paying for a replacement tube. However, I find that hard to believe considering the multiple patches and the fact that they most likely charged another $25 whoever was responsible for the three other tears and still didn't replace it. Absurdly pricey for no reason and the manager treated us like we were stupid or trying to cheat them out of the replacement fee. read more

My favorite springs from all I have been! My goal is to always go to a new one, and every time I do in my mind I say: Ginnie Springs is still my favorite! I love going to spend the day, I love going to camp! When I am camping I always make sure I have make a reservation before I go, and when I go to spend the day I always make sure I arrive early. When I go camping I usually take some easy food to prepare on the Grill during lunch and dinner and some snacks for the day and morning! They have a great store there on the entrance, but I always make sure I take everything from home because I like to be prepare and enjoy my day exploring. The bathrooms are really good, the are where you can shower is really good! One my favorite things to do is grab a Float and enjoy the water! This is my FAVE spring in Florida!!! I've been twice and enjoyed both times tremendously! You can rent tubes, kayaks or SUP. You will meander up or down the Santa Fe River (depending on which you rent) and enjoy the gorgeous scenery. I absolutely love the contrast between the springs and the river. The river is eerily dark and you anchor out at each spring head. The water is so beautiful and clear! If you bring your snorkel gear, you can dive to the bottom to check ou the head springs. Every summer my friends and I go to Ginnie Springs for a day trip, and every time I have a blast. There are a handful of springs in the area, Ginnie is a rowdy atmosphere. There are families that go here, but in my opinion it's for party goers. Bring some drinks, snacks, fun floats, and a group of friends and float all day. Entry is $20 pp and totally worth it! If you float the full length of the course it's a good 45 mins- floating is so fun! A few tips- wear lots of sunscreen, pack bug spray & waterproof phone case and dont forget to drink some water. Also it's easier to fill out the waivers ahead of time because cell phone service is sparse at the springs. We hopped from spring to spring and then floated down the river to another spring. Bring food and plenty of drinks. We packed our rafts and snorkel gear. Don't forget an underwater camera! To whom it may concern, Our family visited Ginnie Springs on Friday 7.12.24 after traveling 742 miles from Fredericksburg, VA. After standing in line for about 45 mins, we ended up being helped by Corine, whose attitude and customer service left us both stunned and shocked. As we approached the register, both my wife and I wished her the day but she did not respond back. As we were visiting for the first time, I asked her if she could provide us guidance as to how the map and the pricing works but she pretended she never heard me. She asked if we were there camping for a day or more but we replied we were there only to enjoy the springs for a few hours. She said we are in the wrong place and this line was only for campers. She then proceeded to ask us if we had filled the waivers and asked what phone number were they under. As my wife initiated to respond with the number, Corine in a very demeaning manner, asked her to step away from the register in as she was standing too close to it. At that moment we decided we will not be giving our business to a place where employees treat customers as such and proceeded to walk away. We went outside and asked for the manager to make them aware about the treatment we received. This is where Dee Hillary came into the scene and turned the situation around for us. All we wanted to do was let her know the situation so management was aware of how we were treated by Corine but she persuaded us to stay back and enjoy the springs. Her friendly and empathetic demeanor quickly deescalated the situation. She not only gave us discount on our tickets but personally sat with us and explained the entire map of Ginnie springs. My family and I loved the experience at Ginnie Springs and all this we owe to the attitude and professionalism of Dee. She is the right person for the Operations Manger position. I would like to end by saying where people like Corine can ruin your day by being disrespectful and ignorant, there are also people like Dee who can change the outcome of the same situation by their positive attitude. read more

It was a madhouse here but I had mentally prepared for that. You pull in and go to this store which has no discernible lines to pay for whatever you'd like to do. We just wanted to swim so we paid $20 a piece and we're given a ticket to put on the car. The springs were beautiful but super cold! Also there were spots that were much deeper than they looked so be careful. There were loads of people and floats, some so big they seemed to take up half the springs (the float not the people). There were several groups barbecuing and having a good time. My biggest complaint was the amount of smoke (cigarette, cigar, other, you name it). There was also a fair bit of litter because people are awful. All in all though, a nice way to spend a hot day. read more

I had the worst experience at Ginnie Springs. Today was my son's 17th birthday. He was sooooo excited to go camping and show his 2 best friends his favorite place to camp. We drove 4.5 hours and when we arrived we were denied entrance to the park because his two friends parents weren't with us. I've been going to Ginnie for 8 years and never heard that rule. Although this was our first time bringing his friends. The family next to us with 4 kids all the same age, lied and said they were all related and were allowed entrance. I asked them outside if they were related and they laughed and said they weren't. They knew the trick to getting friends in without parents, you just lie. We then asked if we could purchase a day pass, because we were just going to get a hotel. They wouldn't let us come into the park at all. The manager wouldn't come out of the office to speak with me. My son was devastated and I was embarrassed and so sad for him. We spent 9 hours in the car after driving all the way back home. His special birthday was ruined. Ginnie Springs lost a loyal family's business. I'm so disappointed. They did refund the money I paid for the camping, minus $40 as a cancellation fee. Salt on the wound. read more

This place this awful. We drove five hours from Atlanta to enjoy an evening at the springs. We never got in. Website says they close at 5 pm, but they stop letting people in at 4 pm. Very confusing, rude staff, confusing rules. We weren't allowed to go back because of previous experiences with teens partying, and the staff was completely rude and not wanting to help us whatsoever. On top of all this, we had to pay 25 dollars just to explore the pools for an hour. Ridiculous pricing. Highly DO NOT recommend for anyone, even in the winter months. Oh man, I loved Ginnie Spring but I can tell you that I wouldn't love it if I had to spend a night there. So I had always wanted to check out Ginnie Spring probably as long as I've been a Florida resident and I finally made it happen. The process to get in can get confusing. If you don't have a pass you have to check in and then go back around to the entrance to get into get into the campground. It was $20 a person to enter the area for the day pass. Once you pay they give you a map of the area and you can go your own way. Find a place to park and then it's off to the water. If you have a tube you can float or you can swim wherever you feel safe. The water is cold. I mean, it was really cold but so clear. I was really blown away by how clear it was in areas. But I was more blown away by how cold it was. During my time there I really wished we had more time to float in the springs and really relax while we were there. It would have been even more enjoyable and I can totally see why people bring their friends and family here. Here is why I would never spend the night here. It looked like MTV's Spring Break there. People everywhere. Music blasting. People just coming out of the woodwork. People with carts flying down trailers blasting loud music. Kids partying. I can only imagine what this place is at during the evening, and thankfully I never will. It looked like a would be a complete sh*t show and I don't want to experience that. I'd come here any day of the week with friends to swim and spend time on the water, but once the sun begins to go down, I'm out of here. It's totally a place to come, especially as a Floridian. Privately owned park about 30 minutes north of Gainesville. It's connected to Santa Fe river. There are few (7 or 8) springs and different caves around. The water is very cold ( but with Florida's hot and humid weather it's not necessarily a bad thing). Water is also VERY clear. I can't believe that it took my 27 years to actually visit this gorgeous park. It's best to visit during the week, as this park is packed on weekends and holidays. You can bring your kayak or float or rent one on site. It takes about 1.30-2 hours to float the whole way. Keep in mind that you will have to walk this way back( about 30 minutes walk ) or you can decide to float just part of the river. You can also snorkel or dive at the many springs around. I know there is a local cafe/ restaurant but I cant say anything about it, as I didn't try it. We brought our own tubes and basically enjoyed it for few hours, then left. Next time I would love to camp here. There are many options to camp along the water. You need reservation, you want to camp here. Another great option is to rev ya cabin for the night( seems fun but not cheap). This is such beautiful park and I highly recommend to come here for few hours or over night. We are lucky to have it in central Florida! read more

Really awesome place, with some amazing crystal clear water to swim in. They have a couple spots you can get in and swim around in. I would recommend bringing goggles, because you can see all sorts of fish, turtles, and other things if you have some and dive down. There are crowds. And honestly, some pretty annoying and very loud people will be there. There are a lot of college kids nearby that will visit. I would really, really recommend camping here on a weeknight. If you camp, you can head into the water at any time. Most people are out by around 7 or 8. We were able to swim in the springs late at night and had it to ourselves for a bit. Same with earlier in the morning before the place opens to non-campers. I wouldn't bother going if you can't camp a night. The water is always the same temperature, and feels amazing on a hot Florida day. Tubing is fun, and pretty inexpensive. You can also bring your own. You just walk up a bit and then get in and very, very slowly float down. It's really cool to see the temperature and visibility difference right where the spring goes into the river. Come for a night and enjoy the hours the crowds aren't there. Otherwise, get ready for a big crowd. read more

meh. it's okay. lots of trash though they try to keep it clean. can get very very busy so recommend going early. you can scuba (with permits etc), swim, snorkel, tube and camp so lots of variety. water in some areas is clear, area to grill out. smelled weed, found glass on the ground (people walk barefoot, don't recommend). too populated and not kept clean enough in my opinion. it's a HUFE area. no life guard etc so go at your own risk. 2 adults with a car is a $40 day pass. you can bring food and drinks (dont bring glass in the river). would recommend bug spray and sunscreen and comfy light summer open toed shoes, there are some really beautiful areas in the spring though. read more

When we got there the employees were rude off the spot and because my son's friend was there we couldn't get in without the parent there. Then we called his dad and he came from work to stay with us for the weekend and we came back with his dad and we still got refused service and they were being racist and when we called them out on it we got kicked out. Do not go there, we have been going there for 6 years and have never had problems. The manager was also rude and needs customer service training. It's because of child trafficking so we offered to show photos of us the prior 6 years of all of us at Ginnie Springs, they advised we had 5 minutes to leave the property or they were calling the police. Embarrassing and so disappointing. We will not be going back, and we will tell everyone who will listen how badly we were treated. read more

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! I brought 7 people and we payed around 200$ (scam just to swim)! besides that when we were trying to return our tubes, we were ran up on by two workers in their golf carts. We were trying to hold the tubes on the roof of the car from inside so they wouldn't fly off. They weren't to happy about that, Immediately they were treating me like i was dumb. It escalated quickly, the worker in no way was professional. He was telling my boyfriend to "come do something" mind you this is some old head who thought he was hard. All i can say is your 200$ can be used on something so much more worth it. salt spring it's free and the people are nice. read more
