Is there a zero? They matched a 2 year old dog from south Korea to an 85 year old lady that spends most of her time between dr appointments and bed. He started biting the first 3 days. Then, the said they would take him back but not the $$$. I get that if its been weeks, but this was 3 days and a bad match. Now we're a year down the road of trying to make it work. Shes in and out of the hospital. I had to take him and Gingers rescue refuses to take him back at all. I have to take him to the humane society where the will surely euthanize him. I adopted a bichon frise from Gingers Pet Rescue 7 years ago while walking past Sierra's Pet in Renton during a study break at Starbucks. I originally thought I was only going to look at the dogs but one of the volunteers offered to have me walk a dog. This cute little terrier mix was what I thought I wanted until I found out the dog was not as friendly & affectionate as I expected. The lady volunteer then handed 'Doogie' to me as a possible 'good fit.' He was very quiet, skinny, and was sadly laying in his crate. He was a bichon frise that had been completely matted and as a result, he was shaven down. Out of the crate, he was gentle, sweet and all smiles. "Sold," I said as I had no idea what I was getting into. 7 years later and I must say he was the greatest purchase ever. He was a 6 year old dog at purchase and I actually did not know what that really meant. Doogie passed away a few weeks ago and I felt a big void. I went back to Gingers Pet Rescue and the lady there mentioned how she was concerned about me bringing home Xavier, a lab retriever puppy (picked out by my cousin). I got my beautiful boy from this rescue. People are out there paying for designer dogs bred with unsafe practices (not all but many) for $3k to $5k or more! The fee here is less than half and sometimes even lower for saving a life and the money is used to save many more! My little man has brought so much joy into my life and the lives of those around me. I am only speaking to my own personal experience with Ginger's Pet Rescue and realize there is a wide variety of experiences already shared by other reviewers that range from highly successful to abysmal. Your experience with this pet rescue will depend on your expectations of the rescue experience. I only interacted with two staff at Ginger's Pet Rescue, Sian and Sherry. Both of them are highly responsive via text, phone, and email. While I am sure this organization, the people who work here, have big hearts and ambitions for rehoming dogs and cats, there is no system for doing so in a thoughtful way. Their goal is to rehome pets as quickly as possible, not to ensure the match between pet and family is successful so that the return-to-rescue rate is low. The website uses templated language and descriptors for dogs (same back story, same temperament) which is impossible. The dog that I adopted is from South Korea, had one health record from South Korea stating he was free of any diseases and up to date on vaccinations. The week I adopted him, he tested positive for heartworm on two tests through my regular veterinarian and is now undergoing treatment which I am paying out of pocket for because Ginger's Pet Rescue refuses to reimburse me even though they did not disclose this illness. I encourage Ginger's Pet Rescue to begin the practice of testing dogs one more time upon arrival to ensure they receive proper and timely treatment in the interest of the animals health and to ensure a happy transition into their forever home. read more

We rescued Bailey (formerly known as Beau) in March 2022. The entire process from start to finish was smooth. Sian Davies was very thorough and provided us step-by-step guidance through the adoption process. When we received Bailey, all of his vaccination records and wellness exam was ready for us, and the packet included lots of other things such as what to expect to see within the first 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months. Bailey is such a joy. He's grateful for this new life, and is thrilled by our daily walks in the park. He rolls on the grass as if he's in Heaven itself! After a few years of being on the fence, I finally saw the perfect dog on Gingers Pet Rescue. The adoption process was a little scary as it involved putting down a $500 non refundable deposit with nothing more than a few photos and a small video to go on, along with a 2 week wait for the dog to arrive from Korea. Placing a $500 gamble on a dog isn't for everyone, but the way I reasoned through it was: 1. Her breed matched my desire for a corgi and my wife's desire for a golden retriever. A dog like this just doesn't appear every day. 2. If I met her at a shelter first, she was going to be stressed out and I likely wouldn't know who she was until a few weeks after adoption. 3. If my environment wasn't suitable, someone else would be quick to adopt her. 4. The deposit was placed on a credit card, I could always do a chargeback if they didn't deliver the dog. I was able to collect the dog without a hitch, and have zero regrets. I see there are some reviews about the dogs not actually being imported from Korea, or simply being purchased from puppy mills. In my case, I saw a video with someone who sounds Korean playing with the dog, got a Korean veterinary record and have a dog that doesn't appear to understand a word of English (although she's learning new commands quickly). Based on that, I'm pretty confident that this dog wasn't local. Not that I'd care regardless, it just seems like a super weird thing to pick on. It's also worth keeping in mind that no two dogs are the same, and they'll all have a different set of problems to deal with. Whether you adopt from GPR or Seattle Humane, you're going to be running the same sort of risks. In my case, I can honestly say that GPR held up their end of the deal, and I'm now a happy owner with a happy dog. read more

Ginger's Pet Rescue was amazing to work with. My husband and I saw a picture of our sweet pup online and felt she was meant to be ours! An added bonus was the opportunity to rescue a dog internationally. At first, we were cautious because we'd heard sometimes listings showing dogs in other states or countries needing transport can be scams. However, I looked at the reviews online and noticed that everyone who had left positive reviews had actually received a dog from them and were happy with the new addition to their family. There were plenty of those positive reviews so I sent in our application. The day after we filled it out, I heard from Sherry with the rescue and she answered all of our questions. 19 days later, I got to go pick up Koda (originally named Rodina) in Seattle after she'd made her long journey from Taiwan. We made sure she didn't respond to the name Rodina before we changed it! Understandably so, she was very nervous at first and is still quite scared of certain noises, but she is settling in well and feeling more at home. While I know she has been through so much, she is the sweetest and most gentle pup and SO eager to learn. We have had her just under 24 hours and to say we are in love already is an understatement! **I cannot speak to how they treat their animals** I tried to volunteer for this organization and never received a response on how to volunteer, instead, I was added to their spam mailing list. When I responded to the email asking how I was added, I was immediately called by an irate person (who claimed to be the "CEO"), who proceed to tell me "she gets 1,000s of emails a week and doesn't have time to respond", but yet, she can call me on a Monday afternoon and yell at me and tell me they don't need more volunteers? I am saddened to write this. I adopted a dog but sadly it didn't work out. I adopted a dog who I fell in love with instantly. After I brought him home, my husband had an allergic reaction. It was devastating. This has never happened. I contacted the organization and they had to find him a new foster home. I tried to get my money back and they refused. I was and still am heartbroken. My husband and my dog could not attend the adoption event. My husband is very upset that we cannot get any of our money back. Their rates for adoption are EXTREMELY high. If it doesn't work out, they put the dog back up for adoption with the same high price. I would have been happy to give the rescue a donation but to keep almost $2000 when it didn't work out is a tough pill to swallow. They claim to out their animals interest first (which should be the case). But, they don't require all family or household members to be at the adoption. They don't do home checks or background checks. They are also very pushy. They don't allow waiting or holding periods so if you fall in love, better jump on it. So anything can happen. If you adopt from this rescue, just be cautious and make sure whoever you adopt will work out with your family. read more

Bit late but my fiance and I adopted Nimbus (formerly known as Kai) about a year ago. Sian was extremely responsive and the whole process was very quick. I still have Sian's number and send photos from time to time as updates. I adopted a Pomeranian named Phantom from South Korea through Gingers Pet Rescue. Obviously there's a lot of medical and transport costs involved, so it was a lot of money. However I was willing to spend the money and the website listing was upfront with the cost. Just be aware that there is a deposit if your application is approved. I was also adopting from out of state and I was very lucky that they allowed that unlike other places. I mainly talked with Sian who was great with communicating and getting back to me. During a previous adoption the shelter lied to me about breed, age, and health of the dog. But Sian and her team were very thorough about the health risks and getting the dog checked by a vet. She also immediately called me when the dog arrived from Korea and she realized that the age estimate she originally got was off. Naturally I understood that the rescue also is getting information secondhand from overseas, but I really appreciated how Sian immediately reached out to me when she realized the discrepancy to make sure I was still okay with the adoption. She even texted photos of Phantom when he first landed so I could see him beforehand. I definitely fell in love at first sight and am very happy that Phantom is settling into his new home. Ginger's pet rescue was amazing to me. I submitted my adoption application via email which was a pretty easy process. Sian called the same day, asked me a bunch of questions and then recommended Maggie(now known as hime). She gave me the foster dad's report of her and I instantly felt a connection. It was snowing in Seattle so I couldn't make it immediately to meet hime. Sian talked me through the deposit process and was always there for questions. I went and met hime three days later at the foster dad's place with James from the rescue. They answered all my questions and we promptly finished the formalities after i decided to adopt. I'm a first time dog owner so James came with me to the nearby Petco and helped me shop for first time stuff. Explained all the things that I needed to know which made an extra overwhelming process pretty nice. I also had a session with Nancy the trainer affiliated with the rescue and she brought me up to speed on how to train a dog, gave me a lot of resources. All in all it was a great experience. SCAM!!! They require a down payment through PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle only without letting you see the dog in person. Then they call back demanding even more money for microchip and medical. Still not letting you see the dog. Then when there's suspicion they threaten that there will be a $6,000.00 fine. All nonsense. No reputable business only takes funds through these apps. 6 month update! We adopted Archie from Ginger's in April of 2023, and he has been a joy! Obviously there were some hiccups along the way, as is with every dog that is rescued. Especially with the kinds of dogs that Ginger's rescues, you really don't know the history behind them. With a little patience and as they get accustomed to being either in America or just in a home, he has started to really feel comfortable around us. The environment these dogs are coming from is not an atypical environment that most rescue dogs come from, so it might take a little bit more time and effort on the adopters side than it may typically take, but it's well worth it. In our experience, Archie was definitely more skittish and nervous in his new environment than most of the other dogs I've been around. We had one scare where he escaped from the dog park enclosure, but luckily for us he didn't go too far. I think that's a pretty normal story being that these dogs aren't used to freedom as other dogs are. While the ID cards for the dogs are wonderful, not everything on them may be true so don't be surprised if some things about the dogs aren't entirely accurate. This isn't the fault of Gingers and Sian though, they do what they can to get these dogs over to America and find them forever homes. The resources they gave us when we adopted Archie, from the Apple AirTag that goes on his collar to the dog training recommendations, are wonderful! To end things, what Ginger's rescue and Sian do is a wonderful thing. They do what they can to save these dogs and it is admirable. Every dog is going to be different, and come with different needs and unknown histories. With a little effort, a little time, and a great amount of patience any dog adopted and rescued from here will make for a wonderful pet for you and your families. to Christine R Ahh yes you are the puppet that came with Sian to bang on doors the other day. I'm glad she is at least having you respond, rather than responding herself and talking about/praising herself in the third-person as she did on Google. I put in far more hours looking for the dog than Sian. Sian pissed the whole neighborhood off by knocking on doors after dark to hand out her flyers. Many of them told her, we already know the dog is missing. Paige told us. Some neighbors almost reported her, as she came by after dark banging on doors and waking up people's sleeping children. As well as knocking on doors with signs up that said "no soliciting." When she came by the second day in a row with the flyers, many people told her to leave. They were aware the dog was missing and her flyers were not helping the situation. And guess who ended up finding the dog? Me. Because I put it all over social media and found the dogs finder via the ring app. This woman did not receive a flyer from Sian. So I did the leg work, I found the dog. Sian wasted her time and did nothing productive except tell neighbors what they already knew, wake them and their children up at night, and cause drama. Also do you not know how diaper dogs work? They wear diapers indoors, and diaper is taken off while outdoors. Then diaper is put back on outdoors before bringing them in, which is exactly what I was doing when pickle dug his way out. If I were you I'd refrain from speaking on issues you are uninformed about. Regardless of how you guys want to defend yourselves, if people read these reviews, see how much drama surrounds you, and want to think twice before fostering with your organization- I've done my job. I have already had outreach from several others who used to foster with Gingers, and have since stopped and began working with another organization because of how difficult Sian is to deal with. There are so so many animals in need, and many organizations that treat their volunteers with dignity and respect. And yes, that includes tough or stressful times! It's is never ideal for a dog to go missing, but as a so called "leader" you need to know how to take the best approach to resolving the situation. She went about it terribly and was not at all productive. In fact, it was counterproductive. You have now made an entire community of people turned OFF to your organization. So for people like me who want to help animals but also not be treated like a second class citizen, consider fostering for another group. Best of luck to your organizations success and improving your interpersonal skills. I'll end on this- a quote from my sweet old neighbor who wouldn't hurt a fly and witnessed Sian screaming on my front porch: "if she wasn't a woman, I would have come over and punched her for the way she was talking to you." Horrible people here! We sent applications for so many dogs and never heard from them. Started getting emails about dogs that didn't fit or situation or life. We ended up having to get a puppy because rescues declined us for the most trivial reasons such as both of us having a job and the dog would be home alone for more than three hours. I asked them to stop sending emails and respectfully explained that we got a dog. In response they sent us emails with photos of euthanized dogs and called us murderers. My daughter and I were looking to volunteer with an animal rescue organization and came across Ginger's Pet Rescue. We first attended one of their adoption events last February at Sierra Fish and Pets in Renton and I was immediately impressed with the dedication and love the volunteers had for the dogs in their care. We ended up adopting our foster, a sweet little chihuahua mix, that they had rescued from a high kill shelter in California. The adoption process was straightforward although they do take the time to make sure that they are placing the dogs in loving homes. Afterward, they check to see how you and your new pet are adjusting. They also provide contact info of volunteers who are happy to answer any questions or concerns you have. Every time I have reached out, whether by email or phone, there was someone to help me almost immediately. Then you can meet a bunch of available dogs, and also speak with the organizers in person. They were all super friendly and helpful. When we found our dog at one of those adoption events, we hung out with him for an hour or so before deciding, then filled out the paperwork, spoke with an organizer, and took him home that day! They were super also helpful handling our concerns since he seemed to have a cough at the time. They give us medicine just in case it was kennel cough and checked in with us after a couple days to see how he was doing and ask if we had any questions or concerns. We adopted Moose from Ginger's Pet Rescue in early January. We filled out an application and within a few days we heard back. They do a great job of making sure you are the right fit for the dog. Using Ginger's Pet Rescue was very easy and straightforward. You can see that Ginger truly cares about what she does. Moose came all the way from Korea, so we met him at the airport. Our fur baby is a rescue from Mexico, one of the countries where Ginger's Pet Rescue saves the lives of dogs. We learned about Ginger's from a co-worker who had successfully adopted two dogs from them. Sian, who runs the rescue, was extremely helpful and responsive as we navigated the process. They take pet adoption seriously and work hard to make sure the dogs set are up for success with their new families. We attended an adoption event in Renton, held outside a pet store. It was very well staffed by caring volunteers who were familiar with all of the dogs. After we adopted our pet, a staff member accompanied us inside the store and helped us choose the correct supplies and food. My family is lucky enough to have adopted two pets thru Ginger. she rescues pets from all over the world, some from high kill shelters, some from puppy mills, some from countries that are going to use them for meat. I had such a great experience with these hardworking dog lovers. I fell in love with my little pup at first sight. I figured he would get snatched up before I could get a chance to adopt him. When they finally did get back to me and told me I had passed the basic requirements and could move forward I felt like I'd won the lottery. I picked him up the day he flew in all the way from Korea. He was happy and excited to meet me but soon he tuckered out n slept for quite awhile. I can't imagine the strain and stress these pups go through and am so grateful Gingers Pet Rescue provides them safe and loving care in the interim. I would avoid this rescue. It's not a rescue - it's a scam. They are quite literally selling dogs from backyard breeders. It's pretty obvious when you attend an event and they are willing to hand you a dog without any checking of references - yes, that very day. Not to mention the exorbitant prices they are charging for "rescue." We watched them give dogs part of pizza slices, allow aggressive dogs to nearly fight, and keep small dogs in crates for hours without walking them. It's atrocious. Weirdly I was told by one of the volunteers that "crate-training is cruel." Orilly? I'm astounded that this organization continues to place dogs when they lie about where they are from and health issues. Yes, MANY of these dogs have expensive and hidden health issues - Ginger isn't spending a dime on that, trust me. Read the reviews, consider the red flags, and take your dog-lovin' selves elsewhere. Your "adoption" fee is better given to places that actually care about the dogs they are placing. read more
