It is an affordable alternative to Total Wine carrying your adult beverage essentials, snacks and more! I made a quick stop here after work heading home, in preparation for a Friendsgiving dinner happening tomorrow. Immediately upon entering I was greeted with a hello which I appreciated. Customer service has always been top notch with the Spec's Team I like how they work to create a positive shopping experience each time I've visited a location and this spot is no different. Shout out to them! This Spec's location on Holcombe is a bit smaller than the location nearest my home, and a little "rough around the edges" in regards to its looks inside and outside, but it's ok, they have a good selection of wines, liquors and more and that'sall anyone would ask for. I had in mind to get a bottle of wine and call it a day, but a coworker suggested I get their Pecan Pie made with Crown Royal. Though a little on the pricey side for a pie, at a little over $20, I went ahead and bought it especially with Spec's staff bragging about how good it was! P.S. They ran out of samples to try, so I told them I'd take them at their word. So, the "jury" is out until tomorrow (I'll update then). All in all, Spec's is a great place to shop for any occasion and their prices aren't too bad. It's worth checking out if you've never been! Cheers, and enjoy! Update: The pie was good! Rich! Pecan-y, and yes you do taste the CR (Crown Royal) in it, but is not overpowering. Good flavor. Good balance. Try it!

No location is built the same of course, but this West U / Med Center spot isn't going to win any awards anytime soon. The good news is it's never *too* busy, even during the holidays. Parking is tight but manageable. There are sales happening frequently, which is aided primarily through their app. Otherwise prices are fair. The not so good news is the selection is somewhat limited. The store isn't that big and has a result. Some niche spirits that I might be looking for are never in store. Service isn't much better, but they're often telling me I can find what I want at another store. They're not the warmest bunch, which is why I try to find what I need on my own. Keep the needs basic and one should walk out of here relatively unscathed.

Park your car in the large neighboring lot and begin your pilgrimage through the numerous aisles of liquor, beer, wine, grocery, prepared food, cigars, glassware, drinks and ice cream. For alcohol, aisles are well marked so it's easy to find what you are looking for. If not, the sales associates are all well trained and acquainted with where items are located. Everyone is very friendly and more than happy to show you around. You might not think to visit a liquor store for groceries but Spec's really does have it all. Their cheese selection is unmatched for the seasoned connoisseur or a curious taster. Just grabbing a snack? They have tons of chips, dips, and prepared selections. Run out of the baking soda for your homemade cookies recipe, they have this too. Mom and dad coming to visit tomorrow? Grab some fancy olives, seasoned nuts, and cured salami, sure to impress. Aspiring cocktail mixologist? You have come to the right place. Spec's not only has your drink contents but also the cups themselves, the dried fruit garnishes, bitters, salts, fresh lemons, limes, and oranges, ice cube forms, basically anything you could need to make the most unusual cocktail and fuel your creative spirit. Need unicorn tears bottled on the 8th day of August? Honestly, Spec's probably has this too, and it might be on aisle 17. Finally, checkout is a breeze. The store is almost always busy but they have multiple registers and never a wait. Use your debit card for a 5% discount and you're off! That is...until next time! Salud!

I experienced this side of the business during the early phase of the Covid pandemic back in 2020. At the time, during lockdown, going to a wine bar or wine shop just wasn't top of mind. However, I had researched a Cabernet Franc (red wine) called Nicolas Reau Enlèvement Demandé Anjou [Vintage year: 2017]. Reau is kind of a rebel working in the Loire Valley of France who is interested in producing organic, biodynamic wines that are essentially closer to nature and processed differently--more artisanal, so to speak. I read about this wine and wanted to find a bottle locally, which wasn't an easy task as I recall. This is where Vinology comes in. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but had to have a bottle of this excellent wine. Like many people, I preferred to stay indoors during the early part of the pandemic and was kind of nervous about going out. When I called Vinology, I expressed my dilemma, and the guy on the other end of the phone came up with a great solution. He offered to deliver the bottle of wine I purchased to my address. I actually met him at the edge of the garage entrance to where I live. This was great, exceptional above and beyond service. I will always treasure and remember Vinology and plan to support the business more in the future. Hats off to the folks who own and run this wine establishment.

My faves are the jasmine green tea (plain) with any variety of toppings, or the bursting dragonfruit with sparking soda. Unfortunately, this particular location has a few things that prevent me from giving it my usual 5 stars for Feng Cha locations: 1. The location is very understaffed. This is NOT the staff's fault. Whoever is making the schedules is putting only 1 person up at the front some days. That poor worker ends up having to take orders, make drinks, and handle frustrated customers. The wait time for your drinks here is much longer than some of the other locations around town. The workers themselves are friendly and nice though! Just stressed :( 2. They keep the AC high here! Even in the summer, I have to bundle up and usually end up bringing an extra jacket + a fleece blanket in order to stay warm. 3. Wifi is spotty. Some areas of the cafe (the booth in the corner is particularly troublesome) have very poor wifi. This has caused issues with me taking video calls or streaming lecture videos. I will say, it does get better if you use something like Cloudflare's WARP, but it still struggles. In short - delicious food and drinks. Actual facilities and staffing could be better.
