It is an affordable alternative to Total Wine carrying your adult beverage essentials, snacks and more! I made a quick stop here after work heading home, in preparation for a Friendsgiving dinner happening tomorrow. Immediately upon entering I was greeted with a hello which I appreciated. Customer service has always been top notch with the Spec's Team I like how they work to create a positive shopping experience each time I've visited a location and this spot is no different. Shout out to them! This Spec's location on Holcombe is a bit smaller than the location nearest my home, and a little "rough around the edges" in regards to its looks inside and outside, but it's ok, they have a good selection of wines, liquors and more and that'sall anyone would ask for. I had in mind to get a bottle of wine and call it a day, but a coworker suggested I get their Pecan Pie made with Crown Royal. Though a little on the pricey side for a pie, at a little over $20, I went ahead and bought it especially with Spec's staff bragging about how good it was! P.S. They ran out of samples to try, so I told them I'd take them at their word. So, the "jury" is out until tomorrow (I'll update then). All in all, Spec's is a great place to shop for any occasion and their prices aren't too bad. It's worth checking out if you've never been! Cheers, and enjoy! Update: The pie was good! Rich! Pecan-y, and yes you do taste the CR (Crown Royal) in it, but is not overpowering. Good flavor. Good balance. Try it!

Of course, they never put the Blanton's on the shelves in this location, so I wasn't surprised when a female manager of the location immediately took the cases off the floor and moved them back to what appeared to be an office. What did surprise me is that when I asked if I could buy a bottle, I was told no, "because there's a list" and only certain people get to buy the Blanton's. Well, I have a Spec's number and I've spent a ton of money at the chain over the last decade. I'd imagine I'm the kind of returning customer you'd "allow" to buy a bottle of Blanton's. Apparently not. Bought my wine and left. From now on I'll drive the extra five minutes down the road to Total Wine or give my money to a local mom and pop shop. I know Spec's is big and couldn't care less about one customer's bad experience. Maybe that's part of the problem.

I experienced this side of the business during the early phase of the Covid pandemic back in 2020. At the time, during lockdown, going to a wine bar or wine shop just wasn't top of mind. However, I had researched a Cabernet Franc (red wine) called Nicolas Reau Enlèvement Demandé Anjou [Vintage year: 2017]. Reau is kind of a rebel working in the Loire Valley of France who is interested in producing organic, biodynamic wines that are essentially closer to nature and processed differently--more artisanal, so to speak. I read about this wine and wanted to find a bottle locally, which wasn't an easy task as I recall. This is where Vinology comes in. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but had to have a bottle of this excellent wine. Like many people, I preferred to stay indoors during the early part of the pandemic and was kind of nervous about going out. When I called Vinology, I expressed my dilemma, and the guy on the other end of the phone came up with a great solution. He offered to deliver the bottle of wine I purchased to my address. I actually met him at the edge of the garage entrance to where I live. This was great, exceptional above and beyond service. I will always treasure and remember Vinology and plan to support the business more in the future. Hats off to the folks who own and run this wine establishment.

My faves are the jasmine green tea (plain) with any variety of toppings, or the bursting dragonfruit with sparking soda. Unfortunately, this particular location has a few things that prevent me from giving it my usual 5 stars for Feng Cha locations: 1. The location is very understaffed. This is NOT the staff's fault. Whoever is making the schedules is putting only 1 person up at the front some days. That poor worker ends up having to take orders, make drinks, and handle frustrated customers. The wait time for your drinks here is much longer than some of the other locations around town. The workers themselves are friendly and nice though! Just stressed :( 2. They keep the AC high here! Even in the summer, I have to bundle up and usually end up bringing an extra jacket + a fleece blanket in order to stay warm. 3. Wifi is spotty. Some areas of the cafe (the booth in the corner is particularly troublesome) have very poor wifi. This has caused issues with me taking video calls or streaming lecture videos. I will say, it does get better if you use something like Cloudflare's WARP, but it still struggles. In short - delicious food and drinks. Actual facilities and staffing could be better.
