We found this place rather by accident. At a local art gallery the artist had a "diaroma" of sorts of this location, and when my buddy bought it we needed to complete the night by stopping by for a cocktail.
When we got there at 8p, super early of course by Barcelona standards, we found the place not yet open. After getting a couple of pictures and trying to figure out where we were going to go instead, the bartender threw up the gates and opened - perfect timing!
The place itself is what someone would have wanted their home bar to look like in the 1970s, and I mean that in a great way. The furnishings are very simple - stools everywhere, not a lot in the way of lounging. The music is the best jazz mix I've heard put together in quite a while. And the bottles are limited, but what they do have is spot on.
Keeping with the theme, they stir up their cocktails in fantastic cocktail pitchers, including their signature gimlet. My buddies started there, I went with a regular martini. Again - 1970s, but spot on perfect. Second round was all gimlets.
We did stop by here after dinner and got a feel for the crowd - boisterous, but friendly.
If you're looking for high end cocktails, go somewhere else. But if you're looking for a fantastic, down to earth bar with great cocktails, a nice vibe, and friendly staff, this is your place. read more
