Stetson Shiver and Jonah Buchwalter and the whole team at Gilstrap roofing were wonderful. From the estimate which was fair, to the production days of re-roofing the house to the roofing crew who worked extremely efficient and hard. They did a very professional job of replacing the roof and 4 skylights and the clean up was excellent. They even had a gift bag and have a great warranty on the roof. Honest and thorough. I highly recommend Gilstrap roofing without reservation. read more

I have a LONG history with this company. And it will continue. They will assess your roof and make recommendations for best practices. They are not out to force a new roof on you. It is remarkable to have a construction company that has the customer's best interests at heart! They have roofed all three of the houses I've owned over the past 45 years. read more

I would not recommend going with this group. I chose them because I was recommended by Wes who had done great work for me before. It started with the initial appointment where I had moved several of my patient appointments around to accommodate and make things work. They showed up much earlier than expected without notice and I had to move my first patient again, fortunately the patient was understanding. The person had my address wrong but I corrected it and they came. No big deal. From then on it's been one thing after another. The tarp I had placed before was rolling up in one spot after the visit. I called that Saturday and left a voicemail. No response but I get it, it's the weekend. I called again later that week, was told they might have space Friday. I ask them to correct the address again as they are still working on the estimate. Initially I was told the estimate would be faster but I get it, a lot of moving parts. Did not hear back on the tarp. Meanwhile I am working on getting them to coordinate with insurance. Somehow the wrong address and my name spelled incorrectly are sent to State Farm. At this point I'm a little frustrated, but they correct it and send. I ask about the tarp again the next week. I'm told it will be $350-$750 to install even though I already have one. They show up the next morning at 7:55am and start ringing my doorbell without confirming whether or not I will owe or that they are coming. I'm exhausted as I work irregular hours. They state on the phone there will be no charge. After they are on the roof for an hour I receive a call stating it is not due to them pulling it back and they will have to charge. The part of concern is untouched. Honestly, combined with the poor communication and a general sense that they do not want to be bothered I would not recommend them. They have not attempted to schedule with me, gone over payment options or done anything to prevent further damage. It's hard enough doing everything on your own, juggling insurance companies and dealing with repairs to have to deal with this kind of service on top. I decided I am going to start over with someone else and call to let them know. She demonstrated no concerns, no requests for feedback on what could have been done better, nothing. If I had this kind of behavior at my job I would not have a job for long. It isn't easy this far along in the process to start over, but I see no reason to continue. I'm not sure how they have this many good reviews, but that was certainly not my experience. I would recommend looking elsewhere. Gilstrap markets itself on values held since 1935, but those values either seem to apply selectively or are no longer in practice. Many of their clients appear to own multiple properties -- if you are an average person with a single home and *ONLY* a smaller job, don't expect to be treated like a priority. read more

Totally professional company. Gilstrap Roofing was amazing in getting our new roof installed. From our salesman, JR DePina, the gentlemen who handled the punch list effort, Marcos and Jonah, everything was done in the highest manner possible. Remember a new roof removal and installation is a full-blown construction effort and you want a company that knows how to maneuver the landscape on such an effort. The follow-up during the entire job was great. I believe that you can trust your home to Gilstrap Roofing. Lastly, no idea why Yelp is showing my location as San Francisco, CA. I live in Easley, SC. read more

From the first phone call to the Certificate of Completion for my hail-damaged roof, Gilstrap Roofing consistently was professional, timely, and communicative. Responsive to my questions concerning the process, Erik Martin took the time to explain how it works and what I could expect. Gilstrap Roofing came when they said they were coming, and finished when they said they would -- they actually finished earlier than expected. Also, when I needed trim on the roof repainted, they came back quickly and squared it away with my homeowners insurance. I can say enough about the crew at Gilstrap - I will recommend them to anyone needing roof replacement/repair. read more

Called about vent pipe. They came out to give an estimate and would call back one week later nothing, my husband called back and was told they were working on it. We'll 3 months later no call. And this isn't the first time they have done this. Show up one time two years later for an estimate on my Mom's mobile home roof. How they get the stars they have I don't know. read more

A friend recommended Gilstrap Roofing, she said they were great to work with. She was right. From the first call to the completion of the job, they were amazing. JR is our salesman. He was professional, friendly and helpful. JR even came back while they were installing the roof to make sure everything was going as planned and that we were satisfied. Marcos Gonzalez the production manager. Can't say enough good things about Marcos. He really knows his job. He also was extremely friendly, professional and knowledgeable. He was on-site several times a day to insure everything was going as planned. He took pictures with a drone and kept us posted throughout the installation. Marcos repair crew came 1st and they were also great to work with. The roofers came on the 2nd and 3rd day. They all worked long hard hours. I can't say enough good things about this company. I think this crew was probably the best contractors my husband and I have worked with. Highly recommend. read more

Did a professional job except for one detail. Took awhile but they got it done. Thanks

Brian and JJ came out so quickly to provide us a quote for our roof. We had a long list of repairs after our buyers home inspection was performed and Gilstrap roofing made checking the roof off our list the easiest and smoothest of the repairs. They were very quick to respond (same day), professional and courteous. We had a few contractors come to quote the job and Gilstrap Roofing had the best price, not to mention they were the easiest to work with. Cannot recommend them enough and will definitely call them without question if we have more roofing needs in the future. read more

Over a year ago, wind damage caused our roof to suffer major leaks. After the insurance company accepted our claim, we had the daunting task of finding a respectable company to put on a new roof. After hearing Gilstrap Roofing advertised on the radio, I checked them out. Their experience and A+ BBB rating won me over. One of their reps came over, gave us an estimate, and days later they began work on our roof. We were very pleased with the entire process. I highly recommend their company. read more

This is the second time we've used Gilstrap, and the second time we'd recommend them to someone else. The first time, they came out to do a small patch job (in a difficult spot); when we still had some leakage after a rain a few weeks later, they came right back out and fixed it. This second time was for a larger area, and we've had no issues since. The guys are really nice and polite! The only thing was they were a little hard to get out here the second time - took a few phone calls. But we are so pleased with their work and their attitude, that it was worth it to us to use them despite the phone tag. :) read more

Called them on a Monday to request an assessment on hail damage to our roof. They told me someone would be out two days later. No one ever showed up. I called them back the following Monday and was told someone would get back to me later that day. Still waiting for that call. I guess they're too busy to consider a 15 to 20 thousand dollar roofing repair. read more

I work for both Sav-Way convenience stores and Landrum Rentals. Chase has done the roof on 6 of our locations and repaired several of them. We have done both shingles and metal roofing and both look great. Chase has always came in with competitive pricing and been prompt. He has even helped assist us with dealing with our insurance company. Chase is always willing to meet the owners high demands and we never have to shut down a location when they are working on a roof. As an added bonus, when you use Gilstrap Roofing you are supporting a locally family owned business. You can't go wrong with them! read more

My one star rating is because I did not get an chance to see their work product. I called Gilstrap roofing a few weeks ago and had a hard time getting anyone to call me back. Finally I found someone else to make a small repair while I waiting on the insurance adjuster to inspect the roof. After the claim was approved by insurance, I again called Gilstrap because the company seemed to have good ratings and I thought maybe the lack of communication a few weeks back was just a fluke. I called last week and I was told someone from scheduling would call me back. I waited. I called on Thursday 10/15. Knowing that there has been some bad weather in the area and that they may be busy, I gave it until Monday. Monday comes and goes and no one calls me back. On Tuesday 10/20 I call back and a lady apologized for the oversight and said someone would call me as soon as possible from scheduling. Well it's Thursday and no one has called back. So I have called another company because I am done begging Gilstrap Roofing to call me back. read more

Pleased so far with our recent roof replacement. Issues at first with getting the original estimate but was resolved promptly after contacting Brian directly. They worked with my insurance company to make to claim process as easy as possible. read more
